Notice to everyone from an old school guy about reliability, big radiator with dual fans and a good heating system with a big fan drawing lots of air that allows you cool the engine internally when the outside air reaches 120 degrees Fahrenheit. You turn on that heater fan in an emergency when in stuck and go traffic. Do this with a slippery slick coolant additive with it and your golden 👍. This process saved my life in the southwest deserts of the U.S.

3 time PT vet here. You nailed it. Power Tour is about having fun your way with your ride. It isn't about pleasing all the crybabies on the Facebook page. Yes, it gets HOT. Yes at times it can be stressful. Yes, there are long lines and traffic, Yes, the vendors that are gracious enough to give out free trinkets and doo-dads do run out and not everyone who wants one will get one. The cool things you get to see and the amazing people you get to meet along the way is worth it. I've met some people who are now life long friends on power tour. My first long hauls were in 2018 & 2019 and they were a blast! This year's route re-visits some places from both of those tours. I'm hoping I can come back and do it again in June.

Slightly dismantle the thing is great advice, I saw Derrick do that with some wires. Thieves want to do stuff fast and won't diagnose a non starting car, they'll just move to the easier "low hanging fruit" as you say.

I had 1970 Buick GS they ran hot in stop and go traffic when new. Could not run ac in town. Would spark knock, boilover, boil fuel in the carb, vaperlock & quit. 1 1/2 to 2 hrs later you might get it to start. Oh the good ol days! Loved the car on road trips. Hated it in town & stop & go traffic.

People worry too dang much and talk themselves out of a good time. I took my old HotRod slant6 Dodge D100 on a trip back home to Texas from where I live in Virginia in 2021, dropped a valve in Nashville and had 5 days of what some people would call misery before I got to Texas and swapped the motor at my buddies shop(Hey Don!). It was still the best trip I've had in years. Met cool people, worked on my junk(which I like to do), ate alot of BBQ and Tacos and drove home a week late with a brandnew 40,000 mile used motor in my truck. Don't be a chicken. Take some tools, your creditcard, and go have an adventure

I can see a future where power tour actually gets to a point that it’s completely sold out and you’ll need a pre sold pass to enter. It’s a huge thing and that’s not all bad. When that happens other events will spring up to take up overflow and they’ll likely be successful too. The more drag and drive events there are, the more opportunities for people to enjoy them.

Atlanta is a big challenge. It's high ambient temp, humid, and the traffic on the superslabs runs 90mph or is a parking lot with wrecks. If you even have a small issue with cooling, Hotlanta will punish you on day 1. Great advice, man. Lean into the fun. No one should let the cranks get them down.

Cooling is one area you should not skimp on. Nothing comes close to Copper. Aluminum is 136 and copper is 231. Classic cars spend a lot of time idling in parades or at car shows or in community trips. Copper radiators are the only choice.

Good stuff. Having been a part of some events back in the day that tried what you built, yeah, you nailed it. Get the thing out there and put some miles on it and see what it does. Fix any major issues and then go for it. There will be people that will help if you don't have what you need. You can't plan for every failure, but plan for the weird stuff and if something common breaks, hit the local parts store for a new one. It's a weird balance on that one that you kinda have to get a feel for. Even during non-power tour times, if I see a 60 something Ford, or a rusty square body Chevy along the road, I'm probably gonna stop to help. Either it's someone young without experience or an idiot like me out there in that thing, so they could probably use a friendly hand to make it go again, or at least a ride to some place warm.

Looks like the wife and I are going to bow out this year. We contemplated taking her camaro...but it a hell of a long way from being finished and I don't want to use the old truck again this year ( I think its unlucky to use the same vehicle every year). The only thing that we would have done different is take a little more time to stop and smell the roses so to speak..( what can I say I'm goal oriented..haha ). I was hoping they would move it north some this year. I don't think I could have done it without AC to be honest...after walking around in Alabama I was toast.

I had a blast last year. Seeing all the cars/trucks along the way and meeting the people was way more fun than sitting at a track all day, IMHO. I DO however hope they have a better equipped staff this year. We waited in line for 4 hrs in Memphis, jut to pick up credentials. The staff at Nashville Superspeedway acted as though they had never been to a car show before, lol. We were lucky we got there early! The double line trying to get in was insane all afternoon!!

Great video Guys! Thank you for sharing the knowledge with us all, it is a big help! I am also glad you guys have given the nod to the '56 wagon this year! With the history of the car, where it came from, the motor swaps, etc. It deserves a shot to rise up out of the ashes and make this trip! It has always been an underdog of your fleet and I think it will really shine on this trip! I also hope they don't stop in Memphis this year as Memphis was horrible if you had a Hellcat on the tour. Best wishes on this trip and the wagon is really looking good! Take care!

I’m satisfied the thieves are in the groups also and reading every comment lol. I’ve done 3 long hauls and most of the time I book my room the day of as I’m leaving the show.
