Keanu Reeves became a meme with "Whoa!" but he takes his acting very seriously. If he were to play a neurosurgeon in a film, he would get a full-on PhD in neurosurgery before speaking his first line from the script. His firearm skills surpass anyone I've ever seen while serving in the military. He's also one of the nicest, most humble and most genuine guys you could ever meet. I had the privilege of meeting him twice, three years apart. He remembered my name. Off-topic but same thing with Tom Hanks. I met him in an airport in 1998, on my way to join the US Army. He approached me at a hotel in 2002, shook my hand and asked me how I was doing since my enlistment.
It's too bad he never got to play Spike in Cowboy Bebop, not many other actors can come close to him for "Knows a hundred ways to kill or main you but is chill as fuck".
The thing about the military is that firefights don't typically happen (at least for a government army) except in last resort after 1,000's of treaties and war laws are considered or the combatants leave that nation's force with no other choice. It's mostly because if one squad from an organized military starts firing without all those laws being considered, an all-out war could just erupt from that one problem. A private citizen can dedicate their whole lives to firearms and be better shots than SEAL snipers, simply because they can practice more, and there are less laws on private citizens using firearms than soldiers. I got a lot of respect for soldiers, of any country really. They are all on the same boat-- serving their nation that barely cares about them, really treating them as they are expendable. I serve my country and community in law enforcement. May not be as big as the military, but in some times, it can be just as dangerous. Just wearing a uniform and badge these days is all it takes for people to try and hunt law enforcement down like wild game, regardless of if that personnel even did anything to that person or not.
Look, I love Keanu, but you're trying kind of hard here. Explain to me his performance in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Try your very hardest to defend that terrible performance.
And the HO-HO-HO line refers to a scene in Die Hard where John McClaine ties one of the bad guys and writes "Now I have a machine gun Ho-HO-HO" on his shirt !
Just got back from after work drinks (work was heavy) but this my good sir, was exactly what I needed now I'm back home, thank you very much, it will take more than audio issues to not enjoy your content
Rambo's emotional breakdown at the end of First Blood is probably the best acting I've ever seen Stallone do. I mean, sure there's better acting to be had, but I feel like Sly was at least making an honest effort in that scene.
There's also the fact that First Blood was _nothing_ like the movies that followed it. First Blood was a very real movie about an emotionally unstable war veteran. The sequels were all just action movie schlock.
"Jerkweed". In DH1, John is told by Hans that he'll "take [sparing the SWAT officers] under advisement", after which John throws the C4 down the elevator shaft to kill Han's henchmen, saying "Take this under advisement, jerkweed!" "Set it off, like Nakatomi!" Hans was the one to detonate the roof in DH1. During that scene, John was trying to get the hostages to go back inside since he knew what Hans was going to do, at which point he's fired at by the FBI agents. "Bubbe!" This is a reference to DH1's Ellis, who tries to get on Hans's good side, by saying "Hans...Bubbe! I am your white knight!". "Suicide girls" All of the switchboard operators in JW are women. "Steve Urkle's neighbor" Reginald Veljohnson plays as Sgt. Al Powell in DH1 and DH2. "Tell 'em!" RIP to Richard Crenna, aka Col. Troutman. Stallone himself said that the moment Crenna died, Troutman died. "I'm thinking I'm back!" JW1 reference, when Wick finally commits to coming out of retirement.
John Bubbe is actually how John is referred to in the Original Die Hard by one of the hostages before he gets killed!! The Christmas reference is that the first two Die Hard's occur at Christmas time and are referred to as Christmas Movies Both Sly Stallone and Bruce Willis were in the Expendables Movies
Fun fact: The John Wick movies got the "Bogeyman" name wrong. It's supposed to be Babay/Babai (also called Babayka), which is the name for the night spirit that is the Bogeyman. Baba Yaga is an old ferocious witch lady that lives in a hut that moves around on chicken legs.
I think that the “set it off like the top of Nakatomi” also refers to the fact that the terrorists blew up the tower’s roof when the feds came by helicopter
The whole smaller action stars thing started with Willis in Die Hard, as well as a bit more human reactions to pain and what he was going through. Vengeance was the last interesting one but after that they just became the same basic overblown spectacle they were originally supposed to be a response to.
Don't forget! With John Wick laughing with a "Ho Ho Ho" and John McClane's gun being taped up with a "Seasons Greetings" sticker, this is obviously a Christmas Movie (TM). Which is why they got it out only 3 weeks after the previous video, had to get it out for the holidays :D.
Kudos to you!! You caught almost everything there was to catch. John Wick’s “I’m gonna need a Dinner Reservation for two” line has flown past every reactor I’ve watched so far, but no one has gotten as many references as you. 💁🏻♀️👏👏
@@mainlyjm It is, it really is, and so far, I think I've seen like 3 out of 15 reactions that caught it. Seen a couple that looked just downright confused by it.
There's several references in this many don't catch. The bubbie is a line from dh1 when Ellis tries to butter up Hans. The detonators line when he stole them from Hans which makes it a double. Then you have lines like you're talking here
I don't think they are so much missing the dinner reservation line so much as simply not commenting on it because it's so obvious. He definitely missed "John, bubbie" reference completely, kind of disappointing.
Exactly. I haven't seen any reactors catch that yet. Most of McClain's lines come from lines in the film. Even the detonators he steals from Hans' team which ruins half their plan
I'm English,so I might only have made this connection because Argyll is an English style of shoe , so the "kick their a** with bare feet"punchline straight after the Argyll comment just kind of felt they were connected., But it shows whoever writes these people's lyrics by is knowledgeable about other places in the world
The thing with Keanu Reeves is he’s less physically intimidating than the other 2 but In the case of John Wick and a few other characters, he’s intimidating because of the things he can do.
The Saturday Morning Cartoon references the fact that they made a Rambo cartoon called Rambo: The Force of Freedom shortly after the 2nd movie was released. It was basically a GI Joe ripoff.
“Simon Says” is from the third Die Hard movie where McClain and Sam Jackson’s character were forced to run around NYC by Simon Gruber, Hans’s brother. Ironically both brothers were supposed to be German but were played by very British actors
The "Lighten up, Wick" bar also has a visual layer of depth. He lights up a Zippo style lighter, that is known for having a wick, when he says that line.
No he said it to Hans while selling out John. "Hans, Bubbe, I'm your white knight" th-cam.com/video/Q1jPTY9uxc8/w-d-xo.html The bubbe was also an adlib.
When Wick said “Ho ho ho” at the end of a bar for McClane it was a reference to how the Die Hard movies are “Infamously and Allegedly” Christmas Movies.
Its a battle so the hardest bars should win which means McClane wins for me. Wick does have a really cool flow though, and Rambo is just there to get people to laugh.
Maaaan, for me what ended this battle was when John Wick did that smooth-ass cryptocurrency bar. I don't usually judge a battle on smooth, but fuck that was good lol. Zac Sherwin always brings the heat
Surprised they didn’t include John Matrix from Commando. Arnold has enough one liners from that movie that they could’ve made some decent bars. I can only assume that the character was too much like Rambo, though.
The constant references to John Wick as Baba Yaga in the films irritated me no end because in Slavic mythology Baba Yaga is a witch, and definitely not a man.
“Nothing is over! Nothing! You just don’t turn it off!” is a quote from the first Rambo movie when talking about how the Vietnam War isn’t really over for him due to his PTSD. Also, in the original book, Rambo is killed by the cops in the end after mortally wounding the sheriff, who actually feels respect for Rambo before expiring

Consider reacting to the Behind the Scenes video for this battle of the John's. It's on their ERB2 channel. The amount of work and preparation that goes into these is amazing.
Okay, about Baba Yaga. She's not an assassin in slavic myths. She's a complicated figure but totally is not related with assassins and stuff. She's like an old witch living in a hut with chicken legs, doing her evil witch stuff, eating children, trolling bogatyrs (slavic folk superheroes). So, this was so cringe moment in the cinema, when I watched John Wick. The whole room laughed when they heard Baba Yaga nickname of John Wick. Same with Jordani Jovanovich, a child of Belarus. Too cringe. Too funny.
Rambo got silly, but the first one was deeper than might appear at first glance. The movie was an indictment of how the nation was treating Vietnam vets.
"I craft rhymes with pencils" is also continuing the wiener/shaft innuendo (given the etymology of pencil). Now that he's called them that, he's talking about how he uses them, as if they're just a tool to him.
That isn't a contradiction, he's acknowledging red stands for communism but has no love for them. I also don't think Sylvester is a bad actor, it's more so that he can only do one type of role, he's the same person in basically all of his movies.
Funny thing nobody commented on is that in this video the headband appears to be black. :P [Looking close, maybe it's like super dark maroon? Dunno. But it looks black, maybe due to dark lighting...]
Stallone in first blood during his breakdown in front of Trautman is a better acted scene than any Willis or Reeves have ever put to screen. For the first moments of the movie it's just that a movie, then by the end, when he's surrounded and nowhere to go and the last vestige of his scarred life is staring him in the face he breaks down and cries. And gives one of the most emotionally resonant monologues in film history and what earned the films place in preservation. Capturing on screen what it felt like to be a soldier returning home to a country actively working against you. Hating you for the simple act of loving a country and trying to defend its freedoms. Stallone may not be AL Pacino or Denzel Washington, but he can act, and when he feels passionately about the material he brings it. Hell his Rambo in MK11 is fantastic, when he narrates his ending. He was written like first blood rambo. Stallone is a 🐐
There is a Sylvester Stallone movie that I absolutely love but nobody has heard of called Oscar. It's a comedy with Tim Curry and Marissa Tomei and a bunch of other awesome actors. Stallone does a surprisingly good job with the comedy, and keeping up with the much better actors.
Wick cut off his finger to reverse his excommunicado status within the assassins. I believe it's an Easter egg to the "Assassins Creed" games where originally the middle finger needed to be cut off in order to prove your loyalty to the assassins and use the hidden dagger.
Great reaction, You really nailed the bars🙌🙌! Sylvester is not so bad he actually fits perfect to his roles, just like Arnold and Bruce. But it is all subjective so big respect💪😎
Man, McClane just rocked this one, he was the only guy in the battle who was sending real shots to both sides. The others were totally on the back foot defensive and trying to self promote.
Little bit off on the 'only need one clip' bar. As applies to John Wick, he only needed one go at it to chop the finger off, the object used wasn't a clip. As applies to John McClane, he's saying clip instead of magazine which is infuriating to gun nuts because there IS a difference.
sadly in the case of Rambo and Die Hard, both franchises were pushed past their prime by Hollywood, because Hollywood these days has a habit of milking a franchise completely dry and then abandoning it forever, that's the only way that i can explain why franchises go on longer than they should.
Gotta say, this is the first time I ever heard Keannu being called a good actor without a hint of irony. Great guy? Sure. Fit for his roles? Yeah, absolutely. Amazing movies, John Wick. But watch Dracula with him if you want to see cringe worthy level of acting ability. He's not a thespian. Just a charismatic, awesome guy to watch. So yeah, kind of like Sly. Bruce Willis is probably better than both of them, but could be put in a similar category.
They work really hard on these battles, and it's always clever. Great to see Zach again. I loved Peter's Rambo. As far as the bars go- McLane won, hands down.
The tune below is the "Sailor's Hornpipe". It is also sung to "The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" with the fourth line shortened to "Do your balls hang low?" Ting-a-ling, God damn, find a woman if you can. If you can't find a woman, find a clean old man. If you're ever in Gibraltar, take a flying fuck at Walter. I was yesterday years old when I found out Rambo’s first name was John. I legit just assumed it was a Prince/Cher type of situation. I kinda wish I could un-know it, because John Rambo sounds like Rambo’s much less cool dad 😂 I think McClain won 🖤
You missed the double on cryptocurrency, one being the category of online currency that Bitcoin pioneered (digitally encrypted, hence crypto-), and the other being the tomb->crypt connection, crypt-o-currency. And being a "hitcoin", the currency of the assassin's ring triples down on it.
I have seen all the Die Hard & Rambo movies, but I haven't gotten around to watching any of the John Wick movies yet... so I love that you explain most all the dis's to best of your understanding for anyone that hasn't seen the material so they can better understand why & how those lines are dissing towards the other 2 guys! :)
When john mcclane said john (boobie) he was referring to a acter in the first movie that tried to get him to give up by saying they were friend and he say something like ... come on john boobie ... something like that lol in the movie and got shot by hons because he couldn't get john mcclane to surrender
I just realized that I am so used to Bruce Willis being bald that I forgot he even had hair in Die Hard and for a second thought the ERBH guy wasn't willing to go bald for the costume.
John McClane had the hardest bars, John Wick had the smoothest flow and John Rambo was there.
Overall I think John won.

Funny thing nobody commented on is that in this video the headband appears to be black. :P
[Looking close, maybe it's like super dark maroon? Dunno. But it looks black, maybe due to dark lighting...]
“Bubbe” was what the first man to be killed in the Nakatomi attack said to the terrorists.
atleast someone is ACTUALLY REACTING instead of just nodding 1up Lboyd
Stallone is a 🐐
U are the best at the discrption. Thx for the in-depth
Just thought I'd point out, I think the 'dog pound' line was referencing the method used to end Wicks dog.
John Shaft was the name of the main character in the movie Shaft.
Man, McClane just rocked this one, he was the only guy in the battle who was sending real shots to both sides. The others were totally on the back foot defensive and trying to self promote.
"Looks like a screwdriver but it's not" -- A chisel?
I liked the "hurt-you-oh-so-bad virtuoso ho ho ho " line
John Shaft was also a reference to Shaft.
You know people say he's a bad mother
"I'm thinking I'm back"" was a line in the first John Wick movie.
Your content is getting me through my cancer treatments.
Thanks dude I did an amazing job explaining the lyrics appreciate it 😁
They work really hard on these battles, and it's always clever. Great to see Zach again. I loved Peter's Rambo. As far as the bars go- McLane won, hands down.
Woah I just realized I think this is the first video I've seen you not wearing headphones (the intro) hahahah I never thought about it
19:53 Stallone was actually okay in Oscar (the movie from 1991)
The tune below is the "Sailor's Hornpipe". It is also sung to "The Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" with the fourth line shortened to "Do your balls hang low?"
Ting-a-ling, God damn, find a woman if you can.
If you can't find a woman, find a clean old man.
If you're ever in Gibraltar, take a flying fuck at Walter.
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Can you throw 'em o'er your shoulder like a Continental soldier?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Do they make a lusty clamor when you hit them with a hammer?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Can you bounce 'em off the wall like an Indian rubber ball?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Do they have a hollow sound when you drag 'em on the ground?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Do they have a mellow tingle when you hit 'em with a shingle?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Do they have a salty taste when you wrap 'em 'round your waist?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
Do your balls hang low? Do they swing to and fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot? Can you tie 'em in a bow?
Do they chime like a gong when you pull upon your dong?
Can you do the double shuffle when your balls hang low?
I think Zach Sherwin (Wick) won because its been 5 years since he was in an ERB production
People forget how good Stallone's performance was in First Blood, which is a very different type of movie than the Rambo films that followed.
Crypt - Grave. Crypt-ocurrency
The Bubbe reference was from the Cocaine snorting salesman from the 1st Die Hard.
Forced to be? No.
SG girls modelling? No. It's porn.
The switchboard girls who put the hits out in the Wick movies.
John Shaft is also the main character of the 1971 movie Shaft and it’s sequels
They made Rambo so much less serious, it’s so funny, but they did him wrong 😂
I was yesterday years old when I found out Rambo’s first name was John. I legit just assumed it was a Prince/Cher type of situation. I kinda wish I could un-know it, because John Rambo sounds like Rambo’s much less cool dad 😂
I think McClain won 🖤
ERB's newest rap battle of the different John's featuring Epiclloyd, Zach Sherwin, and NicePeter as John McClane, John Wick, and John Rambo
Both Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis were both in The Expendables together so John Wicks bar was to attack them.
On top of the fact that Keanu recently did an interview subtly mocking NFTs.
Although your audio was sub par and i know thata not your fault it didnt bother me at all still a great video from you like always
is it bad that even with the audio issues i can still understand him better than rambo...
You didn't catch John wicks bar after he kills, to get rid of a body he calls for dinner reservations as a clean up
"Hans... Bubbe... I'm your white knight" ~ Harry Ellis, Die Hard.
That "ooh" line kills me, every time.
What's hilarious is that the actual guy who plays his character is bald
