    it is a great car. We have the 1.0 boosterjet and the turbo on it combined with the low weight can blast the thing down the street, far faster than the 0-60 would make you believe. It has value in spades over pretty much all its competition from what I can see. I would probably say the screen on radio looks a bit naff but the cluster for the driver is easily better / more neutral than the latest likes in a C or E class Mercedes. Puts a smile on my face or rather is just so easy to drive in the city. And I say this as somebody also with an M3 ! It is a great car that has so much value compared to others because a lot of people don't really know Suzuki and so don't bother to consider it

    ive driven this car for 3 weeks now as a rental and i must say the interior is not at all cheap it is, i would say robust, easy to clean and it doesnt scuff up easily so there is a huge difference between cheap quality and simplistic robust materials.

      If the “plastic” interior is solidly screwed together and doesn’t creak then its all good. Also, I don’t spend time stroking the dashboard.

    I have a 2015 Vitare DDiS Allgrip since 2017, it has been a very reliable and comfortable motor. Excellent in snow and off road environments and very frugal on fuel. Anyone scratching the plastic interior of their car needs to see a shrink!! FFS

    The captur is a bloated Clio (as in bigger but almost less room) and the juke looks like it has elephantiasis too. The Vit on the other hand looks like a mini Range Rover. What's the matter with you people?

    Always wondered about the 'cheap scratchy plastic' comments reviewers always mention...who the f@#k caresses and rubs the dash and side panels??? I wouldn't even know what my current car is like, and I have had it for 6 years. I guess for some it is a big deal.

    • @ossa60
      @ossa60 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +ronaldov09 I also thought about that but, you know what? I'm not going to sit on the plastics and I'm not driving with my hands on them so it just doesn't matter. I bought one yesterday and will be getting it in two weeks. yeeeeaaa!!!jajaja

      @ossa60 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      well,m I've owned quite a lot of cars with those plastics and unless it's a real bad car made with very bad materials and plastics then you MIGHT be right but it is a fact that rubber, plastics and steel made in japan is just the best and almost flawless. You can't say the same of any other in the car industry so don't worry about that cause it really isn't an issue.

    • @ossa60
      @ossa60 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** yes, you're right. And when they crack and need to replace it you'll regret buying a car with those plastics...like it happed to me with a merc 280c.

    I agree with the boot door closing issue until I decided to close and apply a slight pressure to the base of the door. I closes with a click almost as if it were meant to use with an automatic tailgate. Definitely something worth looking into in terms of modifications.

    Thanks for this, a very fair review. Here in the United States, we can't get new Suzukis anymore, as they pulled out of the country a few years back. I myself drive a 1996 Suzuki Sidekick (for you, Vitara) JLX Sport. I love it, and I have it modified for offroading, but it is a GREAT trip vehicle because it rides so well compared to other offroaders! I wish they were still over here in the US!

    I love Vitara gen-1 and gen-3 (which is bigger than the latest here).
    This 2015 Vitara loses its appeal to attract off-roader warrior, but it manages to get better grip on the road which is a very good evolution jump. Nowadays SUV is getting better to drive in the city and on the corners. It is a big leap indeed. But speaking of the sales, doesn't Vitara eat a portion of its sibling S-Cross? Canibalism in Suzuki body?

    it's a bit odd to say that if you fully spec the suzuki, it's similar in price to a base-spec Yeti or Qasqai. Maybe so, but spec will be very different. an equivalent spec yeti or Qasqai will be a lot more money.
    and what's the obsession with soft-touch plastics these days? I'd have thought the harder easy cleaning hard plastics would suit a baby suv perfectly.

    Suzuki is an honest brand. It doesn't flatter you with soft touch plastics to deceive you with unreliable mechanicals underneath like ford and vw. They invest the savings from plastics to give you light weight high tensile steel and robust mechanicals. No wonder suzuki does so well in reliability surveys. In 2018 what car? reliability survey Suzuki was placed 1st. Vw, ford, audi, mazda , the soft plastic specialists , were way down on the list

    • @mattrussell250
      @mattrussell250 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sat in one of these a few days ago and the interior is just awful. It's light years behind any modern equivalent in just about every way. To even compare it to a Qashqai or Yeti is laughable. This is a budget alternative which is placed slightly above the Dacia Duster - nothing more. People will buy it because it'll be reliable - but there's no other reason to choose a Vitara over any of it's rivals.

    • @IamAlexSashas
      @IamAlexSashas 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Russell Any other comments besides the interior?

    • @fundiver198
      @fundiver198 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Russell I agree. Sizewise this is quite similar to the new Fiat 500X. But it is almost 200 kg ligther, and, if you compare the petrol models, more fuel efficient. Plus it comes with japanese simplicity and reliability.
      But its really hard to argue, that this is in any way as exiting or feel as upmarket as the 500X. So yeah it is the budget choise for those, who are mostly just looking for a compact, reliable and reasonably priced family mover.
      And nothing wrong with that actually. Not having a turbo on the engine for instance also mean, that there is no turbo to go wrong and cause an expensive repair somewhere down the road.
      And unlike Dacia, which you mention, at least they have not skimped on crash safety. And probably also not on NHV insulation to the same degree, as Dacia does.

    How does Suzuki keep in business? Im not against Suzuki and some of their cars over the years are not bad. But always cheap build materials and also cheaper price but you dont see them in the streets of europe more than your Nissans, Toyotas or Hondas of same model range. You really dont. I know there are bikes, Suzuki makes lot of motorcycles and all but their cars are so cheaply made, all of them, apart from maybe some japan only models and that one thing they did Kizashi or smth but those are not found much in europe either.

    • @gwrful
      @gwrful 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MS Suzukis are cheap but very reliable. And are very popular in Asia, which is more important than Europe.

    • @C64C
      @C64C 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MS "Cheap build materials" is just something that reporters seem to love to mention, even if it's not true. Plastic is plastic and Suzuki's choices aren't so different. I bought a new Swift four years ago. It also was supposed to have "cheap-looking dashboard". What a lie! The dashboard is way better looking than most of the dashboards at the time in any normal car! For example, Corolla had very cheap looking dashboard couple of years earlier (and I'm a Toyota fan, so it's hard for me to say).
      What also keeps Suzuki "in business" is unbelievable reliability in these days when even Toyota has had some problems. Swift, for example, was the MOST reliable car in my country's inspection statistics. Almost zero percent problems at first inspection (at three years age, later annually), the worst models having over 40% fails.
      For me it's just fine if Suzukis are more rare. Where I live you see maybe couple of Suzukis in a week and thousands of Toyotas in the same time, but so what! Being a former (and also a present) Toyota owner I'm just glad that Suzuki is not a mass car everywhere.

    • @michiel75
      @michiel75 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      MS I bought my first Suzuki 1,5 year ago, after serveral Toyota's, Daihatsu's and a Subaru and I am happy with it. I considered a Toyota, Mazda but fell for the value for money of the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross. I can say that it amazed me with its excellent seats, practical interieur, lots of equipment and willing and very economical drivetrain (1.6 petrol with CVT). I would rather buy a Suzuki again then opting for an other brand.

      My Suzuki Grand Vitara is in its 15th year and 250,000 kms including a lot of extreme off-roading. Still going strong, does everything well, cheap to maintain, a great car. Dreading eventually having to change it for a modern box full of useless technology that will just go wrong or become out of date.

    Disappointed with the review as it is misleading:
    Diesel version is not faster than petrol. The top speed is same acceleration is same for 2wd models and petrol is faster for 4wd. The reviewer failed to address the real differences and advantages/disadvantages of diesel and petrol models.
    It is misleading to say that prices are comparable, comparing the top-line 4x4 Vitara with the lowest spec Yeti and Qashqai. Need to compare like for like - £19,500-£21,000 for a top-spec Vitara 4x4, £28,000 for Qashqai 4x4, £24,300 for Yeti 4x4.
    The exterior look of the car is very subjective. I personally find the rear of Vitara quite proportionate and looking OK.
    The rear lock failure is a shame for the dealer who allowed this car to leave the dealership. Has nothing to do with the actual quality of the lock I’d think.
    The plastic inside indeed looks (and is) cheap, which is not good.

      Has it ever occurred to you that a vehicle must be able to cover many different purposes? So today its carrying 1 person, tomorrow its dad and his 3 children, tomorrow its mum and the shopping. On the weekend its the green waste to the tip, etc.

      +TRPG pilot Has it ever occurred to you these vehicles are rarely necessary and are an unwarranted extravagance and a blight on society?

    • @TRPGpilot
      @TRPGpilot 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you even read what I just wrote? Rarely necessary by YOUR judgement? So because you have no use for something and don't need it does that mean others who have different circumstances are to be conscripted by YOUR idea of what YOU think is necessary or not?

    You should not compare a Japanese car to a French one. Just check out how much French cars worth when they get about 5-6 years old, and how much Suzukis worth when they are 8-10 years old. It's because the market prices them by reliability. We have a 9 years old Suzuki Splash 1.2 petrol. No one ever touched the engine, it is a chain cam (like the 1.6 petrol Vitara) and will last forever. We only spend on oil and filter changes yearly. And one more thing Nissan does not advertise; they use the same French engines like Renault and Dacia, because Nissan is owned by Renault for a few years now. They even sell the Dacia Duster called Nissan Terrano in the Far East where Dacia is not known. It is a joke.

    Are we sure that Suzuki didn't launch the wrong car? Did they accidently send a forgotten file from 1999 to the factory? That's what this car seems like?

    People bought Vitara as it was rugged and decent off-road. Why buy one now? It's just another wafer-thin, soul-less tin box.

    I'm amazed that a manufacturer would allow a car out of the factory with a lock like that on the rear.

    the Dacia Duster is twice the car for less money, it also looks better too. Suzuki make crap cars.
    Their original LJ series of Jeeps were really something, unpretentious and functional.
    Their modern cars are nondescript and bland, like they were designed by accountants.

      only a few problems with a Dacia, they don't tell you want the deprecation value is when you come to sell it, its nearly as bad as a MG, Suzuki make crap cars, clearly you don't know what you talking about, ...about statement tells you only you need to know what you know about cars, Suzuki are currently rank number 2 behind Honda as the most reliable cars on the road, they are ranked as 1st in terms of repair costs, but you sing the praises of a Romanian manufacture, with quality French build know how lol (guaranteed to fall apart after three years) with Italian electronics, you fill your boots sunbeam
