- This comparison video compares the newly updated Superstars seen in WWE 2K23 against their previous models from WWE 2K22.
While all of the Superstars seen in the video feature new attires and titantrons, judging by the comparison, the majority of the Superstars models appear to be very similar to the models featured in WWE 2K22.
Of the entrances featured in the video, all of the Superstars feature the same entrance animation from last year, with the only visible changes being camera changes for Seth Rollins and Kurt Angle.

It's mostly copy and paste they didn't wanna make this game feel like a WWE game made in 2023 this game is more like A special edition Update/DLC of WWE2K22 am disappointed like it's as if 2K never have enough time to make a perfectly brand new WWE game.

TH-cam needs to do something about these telegrams accounts. It’s stupid and the worst part is young ppl who watch these TH-camrs probably think it’s the real person. I know this is the real smack talks but I commented and a telegram smack talks commented on it.

I don't see much difference except a more greenish tone.
I like long-haired Edge better. Hopefully we'll be able to edit the hairstyles of default superstars. Hoping against hope.

For Edge I think he will have a showcase match against Cena since he has some wins over him so I think we will get long haired Edge too.

Looks about the same to me for the most part.
I don’t see many differences at all, but I’m going to hold out on any opinions on either side until I’ve seen enough gameplay. I want to see QoL improvements primarily.
Lighting is significantly improved, facial animation and body muscle physics (which is kinna nuts). Ray tracing also helps. It’s not a giantic jump but definitely an improvement
graphics are not everything. if the graphics are good, but the gameplay is bad, then good graphics are useless.

Character models might not show much but there are visual improvements elsewhere like when you ignite tables on fire it looks really good compared to last year.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that in 2023 they still have belt clipping issues. It’s inexcusable at this point. They’re not even trying

I prefer lighting from 22. They look naturally colored and not too tanned and stale
I think ‘22 was very over saturated. ‘23 seems to have a more natural color palette reminiscent of 2k15. The lighting is also much better as you can actually see the spotlights shining on and off the superstars. When ‘22 first released, the graphics were quite jarring to me as it was the first WWE game where I noticed the superstars’ face textures and realized some of them were off. The new lighting seems to fix or atleast mitigate this issue. The stuttering camera pane issue during entrances seems to have been fixed as well. I think the biggest improvement to me though is the skin textures. 2k22 uses very high resolution skin textures and while they look detailed they aren’t accurate to what we see on TV. We don’t see their bodies as high resolution textures we see skin. The live broadcast footage isn’t detailed or post processed enough to show every blemish on a superstar’s body. So while the resolution of the body textures are lower, it’s far more accurate to TV. ‘23 isn’t a massive overhaul like ‘22 was, but it’s sure as hell an improvement nonetheless.

@@tadies it’s why games like svr 11 and wwe 12 hold up so well today. You don’t need the highest resolution textures for the game to look life like. There’s clearly a limit on how detailed the textures can be for the game to look lifelike. I think lighting, color, 3d models, body and hair physics, etc. cater a lot more to a realistic depiction of WWE TV than texture resolution. I just hope the crashing issues in 2k22 are fixed in 23. I also hope we get advanced entrances back and the body customization in cas. Another change id like to see is an increase on the layer limit in cas mode. 60 is very limiting. 120 or even 90 would be a huge improvement.

The only difference is, the floors are shiny and some of the wrestlers have more texture on their face and body.
And the lighting which is the biggest thing

The color contrast is way better. In 2k22 some superstars skin looked weird

I love that Seth's entrance in 2k23 has the crowd singing his theme, but the crowd is off sync. The pyro looks the some in same entrances as well.

The biggest differences are the contrast and lightning, the graphics look a bit more natural/realistic in 2K23 while in 2K22 they appear to be more exagerrated and colourful (this is probably down to personal prefrence for most people) due to the fact that the contrast is noticeably higher and the colours are not as washed out.
Otherwise it's just mostly small things like the reflections on entrance stages and improved pyro effects.
There is a huge improvement in the lighting!
2K23 is lookin nice, but my only gripes so far are the copy & paste entrances, as well as some of the attires. Seth not having the blonde streaks in his hair, Bobby not coming with a pedestal, while posing. The small bits really. But at the end of the day, I'm always here for the creation suite. Very eager to see if the CAW models will really live up to the actual models.
Looks exactly the same, if not 22 looks more better but 23 is more life like somewhere in there
that'll be 70 bucks for some slightly polished graphics and new attires

Honestly the thing that stands out the most to me is the reflections of the stage on the floor.

It's pretty much the same. Arena lighting has changed a bit, so you get slightly different lighting effects on their skin. And the apparent Ray Traced reflections on the stage floor. But I knew already there wasn't going to be some major change in graphics. 2K22 was such a massive leap forward over anything we've seen before that I figured they were going to stick with it at least until 2K25 (which means, when we're back here looking at comparisons in 2K24, don't be shocked if it looks the same again). I just hope we're not in a loop of them not updating entrances for a few years now.
Thats ridiculous though. Those character models were built for last gen, ps4/xbox one. They need to give us something for the new gen , ps5 owners. We need realistic skin texure models and hair that doesn't look like paper flopping around.
Coming from 2K19 I'm soooo hoping that the gameplay is even improved from 22. It's such a small area of the game in a sense, but the Ray Tracing helps so much. Here's hoping the gameplay holds up well too!
I’m hoping universe mode will just feel organic. In wwe 12 the ai would interfere and initiate cutscenes on their own even without rivalries. We need that as an option in universe. Didn’t happen enough in 22.
Skin tone seems to be a bit better in 22 than in 23.. I feel they look like a MATTE skin color on 23?

The graphics i’m sure won’t differ much from 22. I’m more excited about the new features and tweaks they’ve done. I really like the attention to small details past games have overlooked

The best improvement is the flame pyro for SFR entrance.

Some of the lighting looks better in 2k23 (Seth Rollins entrance for example) but the more of these I see, the more I think the 2k22 models look better in general - or is that just me?

I think anyone with a decent display can see that 22 is sharper and higher res here. Look at the outline of the bodies and also the hair on Drew's chest, there is a difference.

The lighting might not be a big change to many but trust me it adds a new life to the game and you'll only realise that when you play the game
Definitely notice the hair and skin tones look better. Lighting is better than ever.
Interesting that they added Xavier's buster sword tattoo but not his king Kai symbol or his tri force, even though you could easily put in a generic circle/winged triangle shape look like what they did to the sword
If you guys don’t know most of these companies downscale in updates so the release of the new game will “look improved” Same graphics for a few years now
The lighting has improved a bit but graphics seem mostly the same, except that they seem to have put a filter, also the audience graphics seems a bit off.
2k23 edge looks more like a created character

Edge's model look fantastic, It looked phenomenal in WWE 2k22 but now with his short hair cut. It was probably very easy for them to make his character model look good this year.
So Cenas entrance is still gonna be off sink to his music when he throws up the 👌🏽👌🏽
One of these iterations, I'd really love to see some effort into fixing how long hair falls, how clothes just clip through both the wrestler and the ring. Everything else already looks real enough, those are the only real things that take me out of it anymore. Long hair and costume pieces that drape or hang still feel bad.
Well, obviously the most improved thing is the lighting and reflections which do improve it a ton but honestly at this point as far as graphics its the little things like those that matter to me anyways.

22 is sharper (higher res) as you can see on the outline of Bobby's body, and the hair is softer on Drew's chest in the 23 version.
Bobby Lashley starts out in a platform at the top of the ramp now which is not shown for 2k23. Also, Drew Mcintyre does not spike the sword anymore. Rather, he raises it in the air while the flames raise behind him.

Even though there aren't much difference, I will say though, some look much more polished and some look little bit worse than WWE 2k22. Brock lesnar looks pretty much the same.
Im willing to overlook reused entrances as long as the creation suite itself is better than 22

2023 looks better like a realistic TV broadcast while 22 looks like a clean video game.i prefer 23
not a HUGE difference, but you can absolutely tell that something is lesser about 23. i don't know if it's anti-aliasing or something, but the 22 side looked superior in all cases when it was 23 vs 22. it just looked more detailed and crisp when you looked at certain parts of the body, while 23 had a slight muddied look to it.
A good example of it is 2:04 if you focus on Edge's body.
Maybe it's just lighting but i feel like 22 is superior, though not by a large margin.
The games look exactly the same so hopefully they made a good amount of updates to the game🔥
How is nobody talking about the dullness of 2k23? Plus there looks like some kind of smoke filter over everything. 2k22 looks vivid and is pleasing to look at. 2k23 makes me feel like I'm going blind. Other then that its fine.

1. Edge looks weird a darker skin tone might help
2. Rob Van Dam is a copy and paste from one of the dlc in 2k22 minus the attire they didn't fix the eyebrows either
3. Kurt Angle doesn't even look him understand if they couldn't get a scan of Kurt but they could of done better
4. John Cena has out dated tintantrons
5. Brock Lesnar looks like plastic for some reason could be the lighting
6. They could've changed Rollins entrance up (just saying)

WWE Games are one of those games where I would be absolutely ok with them stepping the graphics down if it improves performance, gameplay and features.
I loved Here Comes the Pain. I'd be so down for a remake of that.

The differences are very small but it shows that they cared enough to do touch ups in-between games they couldve kept all of it the same

Kurt Angle is missing his wig that goes under the headgear 😂 the point of him wearing the headgear was to keep the wig on his head to hide that he was bald at the time, so it doesn't make much sense.

alright i'll be honest, my immediate reaction when i saw bobby was that the 23 version looks noticeably worse, but the more i watch the more realistic 23 looks lighting wise. As in in 22 the models look really good, but they sort of pop from the rest of the arena, like a slightly highlighted playdough, while in 23 the more naturally absorb ambient light from the trons and entrance rig. like yeah if you get a backshot of drew on an episode of smackdown, his back isn't all white and shiny. it's dark with a blue tint like in 23

The last gen is holding it back. They're developing it in a way so that both gens get similar gameplay and visuals. They're not like the PS2 - PS3 - PS4 WWE games. Differences used to be DRASTIC on different gens.

Idk they should make the fighters film 2 to 3 different entrances. Kinda sucks it seems like they recycle the animation and put new clothes on them. Have them do an intense one, a super energetic one or one where they interact with the crowd and we just get a random entrance every time.
I barely see a difference in most characters. I’m mad they didn’t try do anything new or improved with Brock. The best model for lesnar still do this day, is shut ya mouth 21 years ago
I was hoping we would get a lot of new entrances…. Not feeling like that’s gonna be a thing cause Cena should have been at least a little different…
