I still can't forget the last passage of play on the last day of the 5th test at the Kia Oval. It was around 5pm local time, the aussies were 264-3 and were cruising for the famous victory as Smith & Head were well set with 95 runs' partnership. But then Moeen triggered the mayhem, he coaxed Head to slip. Next over, Woakes scalped Smith. Moeen took his turn in the following over and Marsh messed up the sharp delivery to the keeper. Once again, Woakes claimed his turn in the very next over by alluring Starc to slip cordon. After a lull of several overs, Moeen returned with yet another lethal delivery on which the aussie captain was caught by the english captain. Now, only two final nails needed in the coffin and the magician Broad did the needful after touching on the two bails by his fingers.

How lovely it would have been if Cummins was there to hit the winning runs in the final test like the first and win the series outright. The collapese on the final day with 120 to get with 7 wickets remaining was disappointing. So close yet so far. It was quite clear how tired and almost exhausted they were half way through the final test. Far too easy for us to criticize watching it from home. At least Australia puts up a great fight and threatens to win series in England. Whereas when England is so highly hopeless I don't even keep updated of the score when they tour Australia. Was hoping for a good series in 2021 specially after Archer in 2019 but they lost 4.9-0 lmfao. And now they roar like a lion for drawing a home series although morally they think they won 4-1 or something. If Australia can do a whitewash in 2025 to bazball, that would be so morally satisfying.
Also Australia didn't have their first choice team available for 3 of the tests as well as having played the Test Championship Final prior to these - nothing whatsoever for them to be ashamed of about this tour.
Barring the last match, I think Australia were on the verge of winning the third match too, where Chris and Mark batted well and England went on to win the match.

Australia have never won a series here in UK since 2001 where we had our worst cricketing generation. We'll never forget how Ponting ran like a coward ahead of 5th Test in Sydney . Straussy humbled and embarrassed him brutally 🤣🤣

I watched every session of every Test of this Ashes and the OP is right, some of Cummins captaincy in this series was terrible. At times he had no plan B and just gave runs away for full sessions at a time. Regardless of his captaincy subsequently, in this series it was more about what England were doing with Bazball and Cummins handled it poorly.
