you’re very respectful of our culture. Eating with your hands 🤌🏾 is part of the seasoning..you just gained a new sub
Welcome to the family!
I love the fact that your videos are normally not too long so i end up watching the whole content. And i love the fact that y'all are enjoying staying in Nairobi. Karibu Kenya.
We’re glad you enjoy our content
now, just mix EVERYTHING together the next time to get the 'full Kenyan bite'... bitterness of the greens mixes with sweetness of the sauce, fish& ugali = PERFECT!
Great idea, thanks for watching!
Use hands 100%.
I hope to visit sometime this year and will hopefully try this out. Thanks!
You should, it was very delicious!
Great vlog! The food looks delicious!
I shared one of your videos with a Kenyan youtuber, Eva*ns from Kenya, and he posted it on his channel. His channel is about waking up African and helping the diaspora move back to Africa
By the way, bitter foods are very good for you.
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
NOTHING for FOREIGNERS in kenya.
Baby was enjoying that… Y’all seem to have enjoyed it too. Great content 👍🏾
We definitely did!
I love these videos of African Americans enjoying Africa: the north, south east and west Africa!!
I feel like every AA in USA needs to visit Africa at least once in their lifetime, ❤
We agree
Absolutely, Thanks for watching!
Glad to see you back to the continent and trying another country instead of throwing in the towel. I moved around different countries growing up too and it’s the best experience no matter the challenges. Ugali and samaki and chapati is 👌🏿🔥. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE
What was the last country you visited?
Wow! Love the way you are "communicating" with your food like a Kenyan; with your 👐s.
Baby is having a mzuri sana time. Please feel at home, and stay😊
Eating with your hands is the best!
I was roaming around the streets of youtube then I bumped into you! I feel like you're going to be my best channel here. Welcome to Kenya! We have different cultures thus very many local foods; Glad you've already tried out fish, but trust me you'll be hooked were you to try it out next to lake Victoria... Fish, omena and wiu, and you get wiser while at it! Coast food is another one worth trying... Long story short walk around, and please stay with us...
Did you say buttery….lol, that’s the best description I have heard about samaki…. I had to make sure you were talking about Tilapia. This baby will never enjoy MacD and the other processed foods fed to the American public.
Absolutely😂😂😂, thanks for watching!
Enjoying traditional food , beautiful change keep you connected to our first image .
Wonderful video! The food looks amazing.
It was amazing!
The baby's smile says it all. Karibuni sana Kenya. The city is chill.
Asante sana
Great Stuff. Did you know that Mark Zuckerburg sat in the very same chair and ate the same fish as he watched Space X blow up his bilion dollar satelitte. He remained cool the whole time. Hakuna Matata. You are in a great area. There are a lot of wonderful local and international restaurants owned by some really nice folks, all within a few minutes drive.
Wow thanks for informing us!
That restaurant is good and that is why I recommended it for you.
Thank you
I really miss that food. I especially miss the bitterness of the sukuma wiki. Anyway, it's fun watching you two. There's a politeness from both of you that's very endearing. I wonder how you would find mukimo and githeri (this is the traditional food of central Kenya where I'm from). 😀
We’re glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Nice vlog. Those are traditional vegetables that are bitter though with good medicinal value.
Absolutely, thanks for watching!
You are eating the ugali with your hands as you should ❤️❤️my Gs...
Welcome to Kenya
Thank you
For eating Kenyan meal a like is a must and subscription for mama oliech
Thank you
One thing about Kenyans is that we love fresh foods without spices
Absolutely, and the food is delicious that way!
I beg to differ my friend. We love our food spiced.
Apo kwa "without spices".... Aishhhh😮
@martha kamau most majority of Kenyans don't eaty spicy food and that's a fact...almost all our restaurants don't use spices and you know it
@@marthakamau1417 ni ukweli unaeza imagine kueka pili pili kwa ugali na omena

Can taste bitter but again this is an acquired taste!
Has a whole bunch of health benefits being a crusiferous vegetable. Good for those suffering from insulin resistance/fatty liver as Sikuma Wiki is rich in Colin
Thanks for watching
Omgoodness! You went to mama Olieche's eating place? I have not been there for years and years. I am surprised it still exists. Wow! Dope. That is a local eat out. Nice. I hope you enjoyed yourselves. Don't forget to treat yourselves to 5 star restaurants too and spend some money and ice cream places as well. Enjoy
It was a very good restaurant. We enjoyed it
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE hard you saying about getting fat after eating fish or maybe even Kenyan food. It is very unlikely you will get fat eating Kenyan food especially if they still cook without too much grease and just enough seasoning not overly too much so the taste of the meats can still be felt. I saw your little one loved chapati and some fish too. I am just back to add to this comments and watch mama Oliech's eating place again. I should probably visit that place when I come home this October God willing. Will put it in my to do list cause like I said, it's been a minute since I was last at Mama Oliech's. Thanks again for the videos. They bring back good memories of my motherland.
When you can use the bone to pick your teeth at the end, that’s a good meal🤣 The baby looks happy and content as well! Love the restaurant review!
Thanks for watching
The bitter greens, medicine right there. Medicine as food/food as medicine; very healthy
Absolutely
Hope you try nyama choma soon.
Hopefully we will, very soon!
Nice video. Can’t wait to see more of Kenya. After visiting Tanzania for a while I always wondered how Kenya was. Thanks for sharing. Also, please try to continue to keep us informed with the real deal about your visit. What I have found is TH-camr’s making all these nice videos but they leave out those “real life” situations like (Black outs, no water because somebody in the neighborhood stole it). Stuff like that. Cause all those videos I saw about Tanzania before going left out that stuff. Even in our “Consultations” they did not mention it and you don’t know to ask because you don’t know what to ask. If you keep it real as you can folks will appreciate your materials better. Side note: I know some things you just can’t post because Africa doesn’t play about that. I am talking about those things that are a bit uncomfortable to a person who has not traveled as much.
We agree and we will continue to tell the truth about our experiences.
In Kenya you can just record as you do in America.. just don't film government offices and no Kenya doesn't have blackouts even in rural areas.. but just like anywhere else during major grid maintenance and repairs and of which you get notified a day before it happens
Fish is a traditional staple for groups around lakes in the continent . For instance the Lebou group in Senegal fish eating populations and also the Wolof . In Kenya Lake Turkana , Lake Victoria Nilotic groups and the Coastal Bantu groups like Wa-Chakwa in Shimoni are historical fishers/fish eaters and have spread the diet among most groups in Kenya .
Mama Oliech restaurant is related to the Luo groups around Lake Victoria . Similar to the same group as Obama father . The region would have similar restaurants like Senegal .The Luo were historical river lake Nilotes with with fishing occupations, fish as staple and cattle as wealth similar to other Nilotic groups like Maasai in Kenya,Tanzania or Kalenjin in Kenya) . Historically the Luo also practiced small scale subsistence farming along Nile . The Luo are diasporic(at least 20 million spread out through conquest with skilled warriors like Owiny, intermarriage and assimilation,in the past large families, polygamy) and their migration dispersed along the Nile Southwards from Sudan/Lower Egypt ending in Kenya and Tanganyika the source of the Nile.
Kenya Luo proper(Kenya Nationalist Tom Mboya, VP Oginga Odinga ,OBAMA ,LUPITA NYONGO ),Luo-Suba .Tanzania Luo proper, Luo-Suba,Luo-Wasweta,Luo-Mukisero(assimilations with bantu groups e.g suba, kuria, kisii, luhya in Kenya,TZ) . Uganda Luo-Langi(President Milton Obote, Gen David Oyite Ojok, Gen Smith Acak Opon, zanzibar liberator John Okello , united Tanganyika+Zanzibar=Tanzania), Luo-Acholi(Presidents Gen Tito Okello and Army Commander Gen Bazillio Olara Okello,Airforce Director,Maj Alfred Otto,Airforce pilots Cpt Harry Oluoch,Cpt Eric Odwar etc .
LRA rebels in Uganda against Yoweri Museveni JOSEPH KONY , Alice Auma Lakwena ,Dominic Ongwen, David Otti, Okot Odhiambo,Raska Lukwiya,Nixman Oryanga,Ceaser Achellum,Bunia Ocan,Actress SHEILA ATIM-"WOMAN KING"),Luo-Padhola, Luo Alur, Luo-Kumam, Luo-Jonam,Luo-babito,Luo-jopaluo . North East Congo Luo Alur . Eastern Central Africa Republic and South East Chad Luo-Alur , Luo-Acholi , Luo-Langi . Sudan and Lower Egypt Luo-Shilluk, Luo-Anuak, Luo-Pari, Luo-Thuri, Luo-Balanda, Luo-Jor Chul . South West Ethiopia Gambella and Eritrea Luo-Anuak Areas occupied by the Luo-groups in the continent will typically provide fishing delicacies . In Ethiopia also the Dassanach like the Luo provide case studies for fishing civilizations .
In Kenya you are allowed to film the good, the bad and the ugly. You will find soo many not so good Videos about Kenya.. Be warned though The Kenya online defense force will come for you😂😂
I love the way you were feeding fish to the baby. My mom did the same thing when we were little
Thanks for watching!
Wasup, was nice to see you enjoyed the local food at Mama Oliech.
Next try out Big Fish on Church Road, you'll thank me later, make sure you take the coconutfish.
I got a question, do you sell your merchandise? I love your hat and ts.
Yummy @Mama Oliech 😋
Try Amaica Restaurant on Peponi Road (Westlands) catering for mostly western Kenya dishes, The Carnivore Restaurant for anything meat (domestic and game meat), Fogo Gaucho for Brazilian themed meat grills with Kenyan twist.
Thanks for the recommendation
The greens help with cleansing the pallet.
Man yr face tells a story about that fish. No more words for it. Enjoy am salivating here Lol
You and me both!
Well done... you're doing it like us brother... digging it so well... congratulations 😂
Thanks for watching😂
@@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE you're welcome 👍

Love watching your videos. Enjoy having good time here in Kenya.
Thanks for watching!
Wishing you beautiful family a nice vacation in Kinya 🇰🇪
Love 4rom +255 🇹🇿
Thank you
The bitter greens could be managu or saghet leaves. Those are the common bitter leaves we cook in Kenya.
Yea maybe
If there's one thing Kenya will offer you is increased viewership and subscribers. Across Africa, internet access is very high in Kenya and most Kenyans are online unlike some other African Countries. Also, unlike Tanzanians, most Kenyans consume English based content unlike Tanzanians who prefer Kiswahili based content. Your TH-cam viewership algorithms will justify my claim. All the best....
We agree, thanks for Watching!
You're love for the colonial language is obvious....and one more thing don't speak for the rest of us kenyans making us look like some colonised people.....nyinyi ndio mnafanya tunaonekana ni kama hatuna Mila na tamaduni zetu

Hadh Ngege Ba!
Wow thanks for sharing!
Gosh, I'm enjoying your content.
Can't wait to be home in October.
Thanks for watching
A brave couple daring to travel with the little one in tow. You blend in so well. Africa should consider giving our African American brothers and sisters automatic citizenship in any country of their choice.
Thanks for watching
The problem with seasonings is that it's like cheating. The main meal isn't good so confuse the taste with a ton of additives.
Thanks for watching!
That's True !! Spices distort the original authentic taste of foods.
i disaagreeSwahilii food is my favourite cuisine in kenya n theyseasonn their food. They have thebest-tastingg food in this country for a reason Like thingslike chicken i genuinely hate unseasoned chicken spices make food taste amazing
You need to do this on Lake Victoria.
The food 😂😂😂😂I miss home don't forget pilau ❤❤❤
You should try eating pilau rice
Try also Nyama choma with Mokimo
Hopefully we will very soon!
Please don't try the second option. No shade but please don't try it. You can try nyama choma alone without the mokimo though. It's really good.
Lol ok
@@edwardmwangi3314 what’s wrong with Mukimo? It’s wonderful, especially with nyama choma. Let people try foods for themselves without you poisoning the idea even before they’ve had a chance to try it and have an opinion. SMH!
Nice one fam👍
Thank you!
Nice bro ..shout out from Seattle!
Thanks for watching
The greens is either managu..its indigenous vegetable
Am watching all your videos tonight 😂😂.
We appreciate that.
I live in Atlanta, Georgia and I do alata Africa studies. I promote the Continent but mostly on my Facebook page. I watch all your videos and am a subscriber and I love them all, especially the one when you were in downtown Nairobi, Kenya with the fellas, the good foods and the live, colorful buses! I like the way ya'll end the videos by saying Shalom, but ya'll spend most of ya'll time in East Africa and they speak Swahili there, not Hebrew. I could be wrong, but Shalom is a Jewish or Hebrew word. This is only a personal, personal and personal opinion, but it's like you leave Africa hanging saying that. I would be thrilled if you said a Swahili word that means the same thing . . . Amani. And I'm sure, that being mostly in East Africa, you know at least a little bit of Swahili. (And Zulu in South Africa). Anyway, keep up the goodness. Amani ndani. Amani nje. (Peace in. Peace out.) L
Never met a kid who does not love, love chapati. I see your little one loves it too.
For sure.
That food tastes better eaten without folks and spoons! Now I am starving here in Minnesota! Take me home, please!

Not everything is good for you is slathered in cornstarch and cornsyrap. Speaking from an American perspective here.
