Those first 8 holes has to go down as the greatest stretch of one v one competition in Ryder Cup history.
On that day, these two were the very best in the world at golf. Both were absolutely on fire.

Maybe the greatest singles match in Ryder Cup history. There have been others that shot lower scores but none can match the energy that these two golfers had in this match. Both played incredible golf.

I come back to watch this every now and then just based on how Reed REALLY entertained the fans. He got INTO IT. Rory couldn’t help himself either! They both got to let loose. It was awesome.

I feel like this match really sparked a new found rivalry for this generation of the Ryder Cup. Specifically the 7th and 8th holes. Say what you want about P Reed, but he was absolutely electric in this match and Rory solidified himself as a real Ryder Cup beast. Guys like Rahm and JT learned from this match and bring the same energy every year now.

6:40 for anyone watching, notice how quick these players routines are... Especially in a pressure packed situation. He stands over the ball for just a few seconds. Takes two looks at the hole and immediately pulls the trigger. Putting should be instinctual, reactionary. Just like a quarterback throwing a lob to his receiver, no time to think how hard to throw, just doing based on experience and feel. It's how good putting should be. These small details go over 99% of golfers heads because they think more time = more success when often times it means the opposite. You don't need to stand over the ball for 15+ seconds...Visualize it, feel it and go. Most players could learn a thing by this mindset.
Fantastic stuff, two of the best in the business giving it everything and having a blast doing it. Hopefully this match gets run back in 2023
