    I test drove this one from REC as well and I think it's a solid gents offering. The tuned detent system worked well for me and I found the fit and finish to be quite good. I used it for all of my EDC needs for a week and it handled it all with no issues. I personally hated all the overbuilt folders that ZT built their reputation on.

    My favorite ZT is the 0462. I don't usually prefer the Persian style knives, but it's a high quality piece that is fun to mess with. And the design of it has grown on me. I don't care for Speedsafe, but I'm open to almost any design shape these days. For the 0707, I'd prefer a traditional detent if it meant the blade dropped closed smoothly. Feel of the action rates highly on my scale.

    Worth the $ will come down to the individual but I think the TDS will change the way some people feel about frame lock knives...myself included!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it JT!!

      That's true. I've never had a big issue with framelocks, so I didnt see the TDS as a big deal. Thanks for your input buddy! Also, did that package make it to you yet?

    I've had this about six months,I like it,it gets plenty of pocket time.I did have to adjust the clip to my liking,but I always do that,because I prefer no tension,(or grip)at all on my clips.It's very slicey,very good penitration,dood steel,snappy action,solid lockup,VERY light.That double dentent works pretty well,but you still have to be careful to not put to much pressure on the handle when you deploy,but it's not bad-Ive got two 0462s,one deploys great,no matter how you hold it,the other,you HAVE TO have your fingers on the clip,and totally of that locbar to deploy

    Really wish zt would go back to the old big beefy folders. I mean this one is cool long lean and very light for the size but just not what I think of when I think of zt. Great review 👍

      @@JTsKnifeLife They adjusted the detent ball and pocket, I believe. Prior deployment was stiff, possibly due to rough machining and non-rounding of edges. My Bareknuckle also has uneven blade grind and pocket clip alignment LOL. Aluminum handle feels amazing though

    I was super hyped for this knife. Looked like a nice formal wear carry (I mean come on, 0707...double 0 seven). From the day I got it, one thing was for sure.
    I hate it.
    The clip is terrible. The tension can be adjusted, sure, but it's so small that getting it out of pocket is annoying.
    I get the TDS. With smaller frame locks, it's super easy to have your finger in a bad spot and cause an issue with deployment. This, however, isn't a smaller frame lock. It's thin, but it's long enough that the additional pressure would be away from the detent. Would it take some getting used to? Probably. But modern ZTs are known for having good actions, and the action on the 0707 barely raises to the level of bad.
    The 0707 was my introduction to buyer's remorse in the knife world. Live and learn.

    I miss the old ZT, the one I recently got is garbage compared to the quality that went into the 0220 era.

  • @Cypeq
    @Cypeq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well I don't know about this one, you have 2 detents which is flat 2x friction when it comes to surface area. So it doesn't dropshut becase friction is force and that force needs to be twice as high and blade is much lighter then other ones in ZT range. So you might have 1/2 or 2/3 the blade weights and twice the force required to drop it down. Add to that some people don't enjoy blade being able to hammer down freely on their finger so it might be a good thing? for some. Biggest flaw of this knife, it's freakin' expensive.
    I watched a lot of knife reviews and having cuts or bandages on the thumb is somewhat common... doesn't take much to figure it out who likes to figit with drop shutting knives.

    Zt has always fallen into a weird spot for me. Frame locks are my least favorite locks, and I feel like thats almost all they ever offer. On top of that, I've never cared for big heavy over built tank knives. Now that they have started moving away from the huge knives, I dont cared enough about "premium materials" to make the price jump from kershaw to ZT. In the rare cases I've really liked a design they have done, I can remember the model number long enough to bother looking it up lol

    I like the tanks. I think the idea especially on a knife so slim being able to open even if finger is on the lockbar is a good idea. With those CF flaws and other items definitely wouldn't get that knife. Thanks for sharing .

    Yeah...when I started collecting I bought a number of ZT's....still have them and love them!
    ...but there is not and has not been anything that has caught my eye for close to 2 years now.....during that time the knife world exploded and it seems that Zero Tolerance contracted...There are just soooooo many incredible knives out there and for me..ZT has just kind of dropped out. • @thomaslanders6244
    @thomaslanders6244 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s a great looking knife. I’m surprised the CF has issues. Having drop shut action is not always a sign of quality..The overbuilt ZT folders seemed nice but too heavy to carry and cut like an ax. I only kept the 0393, 0801Ti, 0640..Those all carry OK but not great slicers. Probably should have kept the 0562 but I hate flippers, the less, the better.
    There’s a lot of competition now. My MD WE FF Crux, Buc, Dao and Kizer T1 are close to ZT quality and less money. But, too many titanium frame locks have poor lock geometry and not just ZT. I’m done with them.

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just staying with ZT the 0562CF, 0606 and 0609 are all in that same price range and better knives, I think. A Spydiechef is about 10 bucks cheaper than this, so that's what I'd do.

    • @Cypeq
      @Cypeq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      well neither of these knives is even vaguely similar to this one. Most of them 2x the weight. 0562CF scratches at 3x the weight. It's apples to oranges when it comes to me. And materials prettymuch the same in ZT range

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cypeq So you're saying you prefer the 0707? As for my comparisons, yeah man, the 0707 is pretty unique in regards to it's weight. Hard to find something comparable in design for that price.

    • @Cypeq
      @Cypeq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JTsKnifeLife personally yes, kind of? I'm actually looking for a knife in this category a slender 3.5-4 in blade. With your vast experience do you thin this one lives up to ZT name for build quality? (well ignoring imperfect CF on yours)

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cypeq Yeah, it lives up to their quality, but it's just a different style from traditional ZTs so it's hard to compare. But for the slimness and weight it is pretty sturdy once you get used to it.

  • @Nordraw

    It 's an issue with any frame lock knife if you are left handed. That detent is a great idea in my book. Drop shut is not a big issue in reality. I agree this knife is not on my list to buy.

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm left handed and for the most part, my hand just naturally learns how to hold a knife in order to deploy it. I've rarely had any issues. That said, it's a smart idea that I'm sure some people will really appreciate.
