Great review as usual. First thing I though when I saw it was "ZT Bareknuckle". It ticks a lot of boxes for me. The only thing that could beat it for me would be an 0770 without the assist. =) Keep up the good work!
Good job on the quick review/overview!! I just saw this knife for the first time in an email from ZT and immediately went to TH-cam to see if anyone had a video on it and as soon as I opened the app this video was one of the first recommended videos. Didn't even have to search. Awesome.

Very nice, the slim profile and full size blade ‘n’ handle is exactly what I favor! The kershaw comparisons really helped me out a lot getting a idea for how this 0707 is. Happy father’s day!

DLT Trading has always delivered the next morning when I pay for overnight shipping, as long as I order before 3 or 4:00 that day. I’m in Wyoming and I believe they are in or around Green Bay. Impressive!!!
Double detent was probably the worst way to fix the issue of pressing on the lock bar while opening. Adding unnecessary friction to a knife. Bolster frame is the best way to solve this. If I get my hands on one, I will remove the second detent and add a detent hole on the blade for the lockbar detent.
There are days where I wish I could afford things like this. But, at the same time I know I would absolutely beet the crap out of it. I think that the only ZT I would probably ever buy will probably be a 562 of some kind later on down the road if they are still available when I can afford one. It's probably the one ZT that I wouldn't be afraid to use purely because it was designed to be used and "well loved". That being said, I did just buy a Kizer Activ Bantam on sale at Blade HQ for 100$. I absolutely love the thing but I refuse to use it for anything they I would probably do in a work environment. That's what the Leatherman Surge and the 20$ Gerber Walmart knife are for. 😁 (Sorry for the rant)
I had just grabbed the 0462 then heard they were dropping a new knife and after watching your review I’m glad I went the way I did . For the same price I get a bigger knife and much better drop shut action and the same steel . The double detent ruining the drop makes it not as appealing to me
The follwoing review applies to the knife I received (and returned..) maybe other samples are not affected. I ordered this knife as an EDC item for office environment. I love the design: elegant and lightweight. But it turns out that ZT went from overbuild to underbuilt. The lockbar, once engaged, can be pushed further in all the way. Also when I press down on the lockbar, it moves. So when you get a little firm grip on the knife you can feel movement in the lockbar. This really feels odd.
At first glance I thought Sinkevic or Anton Malyshev design...😅 But this is the first ZT in a looong time, I would consider buying. Thanks for the first impressions SD !
If you still have the FF Exec, that would be an interesting comparison. Similar price points, and both are in that sort of unusual category of 3.5" gentleman's knife.

I’m looking for a replacement for my crkt ceo, with higher build quality, nicer handle material blade ect, any ideas? It needs to fit in a pen pocket and I’d prefer it to b a flipper.
Looks pretty cool. Perhaps it is my hand size and shape, but very thin frame locks just drive me crazy. The dual detent concept is intriguing if it mitigates some of the lock bar sensitivity.
Man.. this in a 3” would be a dream. I like large knives but I can only carry 3” or less at school. Eww.. just saw the “not a drop shutty knife.” I like ZT because of their heavy blades which makes the drop shuttyness so good. This detail hurts.

Sorry to jump in, but since it's the Internet I will governo my 2 cents... I own then both as well and despite the similar dimensions, premium materials and general pocket profile, they behave as very different knives 940-1 runs on washers and has a thicker blade and tip, action is very smooth, axis lock is fun and fidgety and the blue spacers ad a distinct style. No factory deep carry clip, though... The 0707 runs on kvt bearings, is lightining fast, deploys with a sound of authority, not as fidgety but certainly more slicy and pointy - and comes with a nice deep carry clip. My advice is: if you prefer a "stouter" blade and/or like to fidget with your knife, go with the 940-1. If you prefer a more discret carry and/or like a more slicy/pointy blade, pick up the 0707. I can say I'm pretty happy with both and rotate them from time to time - ZT sees more office time and Benchmade more leasure time!
This could be a great dress up carry, but flippers can scare people. Without thumb drive for slow rolling it would be nice to know how easy this knife is to open two handed. The Bareknuckle is super easy to pull open but it has a taller blade.
zt said on their instagram the 250 dollar price tag is only the introductory price, its normal msrp is 310. so for right now its not too bad for the price but man if you miss that boat forget it
@@SliceyDicey hopeful but seeing the direction their knives have been trending more upward in price sitting at around that 300 mark i wouldn't doubt it. They have also done the low starting price crap before
I got to say I'm just not into what is ZT has been putting out lately. Really can't explain it but it's like all their blades have a swedge like look. Not to mention the ridiculous price. But all-in-all I like some of their older stuff. Maybe they'll put one out that I like at some point. I am a fan of ZT just not some of their late designs.
Why 3-1/2 inches? Here in Colorado anything over 3-1/2 is illegal to carry concealed, so it depends what ruler the cop uses on a knife like this, the method with which he decides to measure, and how he decides to hold the ruler. I can't carry so many nice knives like this one.... but I keep buying them. Guess I'll add it to the list.
@@Stahlwerk88 Rulers and tape measures are actually not made to exact tolerances, so depending on the one that's used on a knife that's exactly 3-1/2 inches it could go either way or as Nick Shabazz says: "depends on how much the cop likes you". Also, many TH-camrs talk about knife blade lengths being made to measure at just under legal limits; namely the common and well known standards of 2-1/2, 3, and 3-1/2 inches and I agree with them. Seems like an easy goal to achieve regardless of the state you live in.
Bryan. I wondered if you might help me. I bought a ferrum forge exec on eBay. When it got here the blade just fell open. It doesn’t lock. The guy lies and says it’s in working condition when sent. If I can’t get return . What can I do to fix this?
Good review. Personally, the 0990 is as slim and long as I’d like to go with a ZT. The 0707 looks aggressive in the office and the 0990 is far more interesting.
So I wasted my money on one of these. This knife is the only frame lock I've ever had difficulty opening due to pressure on the lock bar... the thing this stupid detente system is designed to prevent. If I press as hard as I can on the lock bar on my Sebenza, it doesn't affect the opening at all--even using my other hand to apply pressure. But the ZT0707 fails to open fully even with slight pressure, and since the handle is so thin, there's always some kind of pressure on the lock bar. It's also the only knife I can't tune for opening/closing, again due to this stupid detente system. The action out of the box is horrible. Worse than a $17 Kershaw. The bearings are not smooth. The clip is tiny, digs into my palm, and cannot be adjusted. You need two T8s to unscrew the pivot pin. I got the Quiet Carry Waypoint on this channel's suggestion, and that is my favorite knife. That will stay in my pocket, even while sleeping. The ZT will stay in a box in my closet.
The death of drop shut knives couldn't come sooner. It is a rediculous feature that people who just want to mess around flicking knives infront of their computer or for their instagram feeds want to have. The EDC scene has been great for the knife lovers, but a curse as well, with companies focused on man jewelry instead of tools much of the time. Never in a practical experience of using my folders have I wanted to need a one handed opening knife drop shut so easily especially when in awkward positions or using the blade in the real world when you are trying to pay attention to the task, not the blade slicing you on its way down.

They should make a zt version of the bareknuckle with titanium, 20cv, and maybe a slightly bigger blade and size overall

My guess would be that Oregon isn’t part of Colorado. Incidentally rulers are the same length in both states.

Reminds me of the real steel metamorph. If it was a front flipper then it would be very similar.
