    Villa gem rookie selling for that much pissed me off. I think it's a good long-term hold but also find it a little expensive for the current market. Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt me later if the next one I find ends up selling for much more.

    The very first Soccer card/sticker I ever bought was the MBappe sticker rookie. I now since dont buy anything modern but if I was the Mbappe true rookie would be the #1 over all numbered or any other card made for him for sure. Especially given the price of it vs the other not rookies. I just dont value manufactured rarity as much as others.

    Picked up the 78 Maradona in this auction. I thought the colour and registration were really good on this PSA 1 compared to some others I’ve seen

    Picked up a couple the Djalma Santos (including the rookie) which was on my "Top 50 Most Wanted" list... big price on the Rummenigge, but it is a super tough one.... especially in "never stuck" condition

      Huge win on the Djalma's, crazy to see that come to auction and glad it found a good home. Will be interesting to see how many/few Rummenigges that sale brings out.

    Personally I’m cool with rookie stickers but not with rookie sticker and some random dude, this really takes the value off IMO. I would much prefer his 2017 Topps CL one over this one

      Respect the take, for some reason I love the dual stickers even if they have someone random, but I'm probably in the minority on that.

    Seems like Trebles and Kabooms in recent weeks have gone up as a whole. Curious what or who is influencing that? I’ve heard from a podcaster-dealer that Kabooms are hot in American football these days as well. I never really believe in the “the current versions are bad, so later ones appreciate” but maybe there really is something to that.

      No “ONE” is helping the trebles - I won this one, Mbappe on an American auction - this PWCC auction is as close to fair as it gets, 👌

    For the Messi Mega Cracks Barca rookies, are you seeing any sort of premium for the Catalans?

    • @UsmntSoccerCards
      @UsmntSoccerCards  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Generally speaking, not really. Maybe a 10-15% premium in some situations, but in others they seem fairly even. Most of the ones I have are campio's, since they're so similar in price I'd rather have them.

    This hobby is strange. We had the modern soccer card gold rush, the ultra modern soccer card boom and bust, the repack wars...and next (read NOW) it's people buying stickers for players that retired before they were born and only learned their names from a TH-cam video about soccer cards because of lack of POP COUNT as the sole basis. They were never meant to be worth anything, they were supposed to be glued into an album. I'll guarantee any of the most valuable stickers with pop counts under 50, have 10-20-50x sitting around some German, or Italian, or Spanish grandparents house just waiting to be found and graded at some point when they realize the value.
    Nobody can just figure out what they personally like, and just collect that.

    Didn't know Rummenigger had a rookie from 75-76. A PSA 10 of that card must be worth $50k plus.

    • @UsmntSoccerCards

      Crazy to think a 70's sticker is that rare from Germany, still a pop 1 of 1 in any grade..

      @LionelPerez1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UsmntSoccerCards Shocked only one has been graded. It's only a regular Bergmann card. Should be able to find a few. I really want that Lothar Matthaus Americana Munchen Bundesliga Finale card from 79-80. Tough to get.

    Not sure why you continue to take jabs at popular sets like treble and 2017 chrome. You like to point out shilling or price increases that seem out of whack to you even though many, many cards from other years and sets get shilled and re-run. If you look at price history across all sports you will see major sales price increases. The same thing happened with Lebron cards in key sets. Go look at that history. So what if a card once sold for x and now sells for y. If there's consistent demand for the cards then who cares?

    • @johnbowlus
      @johnbowlus 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair points. I do think certain sets and players are hotter than others in recent months. Moreover, Treble and 17 TC do have that rarity security with the serial numbers. At same time, a lot of people have gotten burned chasing those sets. Caveat emptor!

    • @UsmntSoccerCards
      @UsmntSoccerCards  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Treble simply because I believe it was a pump (and possible dump) + Treble people loving complaining in my comments so I like to poke the bear. 2017 chrome solely because I don't see the love in other years nearly to the degree you see 2017. In other sports how often can you think of a "1st year" modern set that actually carries a 10x premium over the following year.
      I'll make a video covering the 1st year thing lately this week.
      If people want to collect the sets then by all means, if someone wants to take jabs at the sets, they should be able to also right? It's good to have an opposing voice from time to time.

    • @ricardomondragon7320
      @ricardomondragon7320 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope, if it took me 30 plus purchases from Asian and European countries to get these trebles - I’d say that is as rare (in ultra modern) as it gets, half my consolidated trebles do not come from this continent - lots of google translate and random IG people helped me out, no other set has that aspect of discovery built in it

    • @klevene1
      @klevene1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@UsmntSoccerCardslater chrome sets added more parallels and their designs are inferior to 2017. I think 2018 has some love because the design is decent. You act like people have no logic in their buying but there are plenty of informed collectors in the soccer space. Post 2020 sets got over printed so of course there's less enthusiasm than earlier years.

      @@ricardomondragon7320 Tons of rare cards in modern soccer. Rarity is nothing special at this point. It's the norm.
