I remember walking into my local card shop and buying 90-91 packs like Skybox and Hoops (not worth much at all) and I still remember seeing those 86 fleer packs and not buying them bc they were “expensive” and I was only 9-10 years old. It was prob like $25 per pack.. man I wish I bought a whole box!

Great job Matt! What I love about these lists is that there's no shame even being #50 all-time. Appreciate all the time and effort you put into your videos, well done!
Great video as always brother and I have watched and saved every one of them! More power to you and you're a positive person for the hobby of sports card collecting!!
I’m lucky enough to own almost half of the cards featured, though none in the grades on the video. It’s cool to see about 4 or 5 sets make up the bulk of these. Those vintage sets are 🔥🔥
Believe it or not but I have been setting on a lot of these rookie cards for over 40 years and I am having such a hard time on getting rid of any of them! I consider myself a true collector of the worlds #1 hobby! I treat plain common cards with dignity and put them in penny sleeves and then top loaders! That's called truly a good card collector!!!
Now that PSA (which graded all? the cards on this list) is also recognizing and grading the 80's Star Co. basketball cards wouldn't that remove the RC designation of players who appear in the 1986 Fleer set if they made their debut in earlier Star cards, especially Jordan?
To bad 1986 Fleer aren't true rookie cards for most of these players as they have star cards which where NBA LICENSED and actually from the Rookie seasons.🤷♂️
I got a great deal getting the Rodman PSA 10 for $1500. I couldn't believe it. I thought the seller was going to cancel the sale 😅 but thank goodness they honored it
It's a combination of most recent sales and the average sale. So, if we have an outlier sale of $50,000 in one month but the average sale is between $15,000 - $30,000 and the most recent sale is $25,000 then I will use the $25,000 value. However, is the PSA 10 population is just 1 and the sale was huge then I will go ahead and use that 1 sale because no other sales have taken place. Keep in mind how volatile the sports card market is. Just because a card sold for $5,000 last month doesn't mean it will this month. Timing is crucial. I hope this helps!
I really like your work Matt, please never stop, please keep it up, also with your wife the best work. I wrote from small Eu country Hungary, It's next to Ukraina.

I wasn't even collecting sports cards in 1986. I was collecting garbage pail kids😢. I started collecting around 90-91. Anyway. Since Jordan rookie in 1986. It's seems every 10 years a rare player comes around where some of their rookie cards are worth hundreds and thousands of dollars like Kobe Bryant. Then you got LeBron in 2003 who has cards worth thousands of dollars. Then after that I think you got guys like Luka who has some rookie cards worth hundreds of dollars. Probably thousands too. Then you got Wemby who looks to be the next best thing. I got one of his rookies so I'm hoping his card goes for a few hundred in a couple years😊

Correct. Michael Jordan was drafted in 1984, but there were no sets printed by major card manufacturers like Topps or Fleer in that year. As a result, Jordan’s 1986 Fleer card is often regarded as his official rookie card since it was part of the first widely distributed and officially licensed set featuring him. This is one reason why the 1986 Fleer set is renowned for containing many basketball 'rookie cards.' However, it’s important to note the exception of the 1984 Star cards, which, while they do feature Jordan and were released earlier, are not always recognized by some collectors due to their limited distribution and lack of brand awareness.
Missing a bunch of sales my man, the Jordan still sells for around 200k and hit 800k a few years back. You used other sales for the same time period, so why not on the Jordan?
I use the most recent sales. Cards with low pop numbers don’t sell as often as high pop cards like the Jordan. Gotta stay up to date with the market. Cheers!
I'm confused about the Rick Barry one. That's not his rookie card. He was drafted by the warriors. Why would a card like that be worth that much? He barely played for NY. That a mistake or something?
Many basketball players' rookie cards do not feature them in their actual rookie year, as basketball cards were not in high demand between the 1950s and 1970s. Therefore, collectors consider their first available card as their official rookie card. For example, Michael Jordan was drafted in 1984, but since no Fleer or Topps sets were released that year, his 1986 Fleer card is considered his rookie card. Similarly, Rick Barry's rookie card is from 1971, as no Fleer or Topps sets were available in 1965, and Barry was not in the 1968 or '69, or '70 sets. I hope this information is helpful!
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR your response confirms you haven't. I've been collecting since 88. Do you know what a type 2 is? Look into it...might understand why your response needs research.
Many collectors collect Star cards. I have a 1984 BGS 8.0 Jordan RC and his 1986-87 Fleer 3rd year card. PSA grades Star cards so if they recognize them you should too.
