    In this video, we distinguish between an unheated yellow sapphire with aggressively beryllium treated yellow sapphire under the microscope. Both have natural crystal inclusions which really helps in telling us if the sapphires have been treated or not.

    Hi! Greetings from Poland and 2 sister's who are gemstone lovers. Many thanx for this video!:) Just 1 question this microscope has magnification 40x or more? Any specific light conditions must be applied? looking also for difference between untreated vs heated ( without berrilium)sapphires? What specific paterns ones should look for to understand which one is natural and which one is heated only ( no berrilium diffused) could you be so kind and let us know or maybe post new video? Many thanx

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Napoli,
      Our microscope magnification goes up to 100x magnification, though most inclusions can be seen from 10x onwards.
      The light conditions I recommend to check gems are under the dark-field setting which allows you to see inside the gemstone and their inclusions. The inclusions will provide you clues if the gemstone is treated or untreated.
      Regarding what to check for unheated and heated, we have posted some videos in the past for rubies and blue sapphires. The same principles apply to yellow sapphires as they are all from the same corundum family.
      I recommend for extensive microscope videos with different treatments to check this video: th-cam.com/video/ornjTJv9pl8/w-d-xo.html

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the stone is scratching easily, there is a higher chance of being fake than real.
      As sapphires have a hardness value of 9 (in Mohs Scale), then most substances cannot scratch it easily (only another sapphire or diamond can scratch it).

    Good morning sir. Beryllium diffusion treatment and surface diffusion treatment is same .or any difference between them. Beryllium diffusion treatment yellow sapphire price per carat howmuch cost?

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are not the same. For surface diffusion the chemical used is usually Titanium and is usually for blue sapphires.
      Price per carat depends on the quality of yellow sapphire. For this sapphire in the video cost is around US$15 per carat. The stone is only around 0.40 carats so total cost is around US$7 to $8.

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Navin,
      Based on gemology having some inclusion in natural gemstones does provide us some clues if the stone is natural or not (without sophisticated lab equipment). Also makes me feel more comfortable that the stone is natural and not some man made synthetic.
      Now base on Vedic astrology, I do agree that the stone should be absolutely clean. Now does that mean if the stone has to be eye clean or microscope clean I'm not sure as in olden times there weren't any microscope or gem loupes. :)
      Anyways, I did write an article about this which you can read here: www.buygemstone.info/2014/02/06/how-to-buy-an-astrological-gemstone-based-on-vedic-indian-astrology-in-bangkok-thailand/

    Great sir...i just wanted to know that is there any percent astrological benefit of a heated treated yellow sapphire as they come in affordable cost. But I am really worrying about its astrological benefits, because that's the sole reason I want to buy a yellow sapphire.

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would definitely recommend a 'natural' stone over heated sapphire for astrological purposes as the gemstone's original property is what effects the wearer.
      For more information I do recommend our blog post in this topic which I have provided the link here: www.buygemstone.info/2014/02/06/how-to-buy-an-astrological-gemstone-based-on-vedic-indian-astrology-in-bangkok-thailand/

    i do not believe in astrology connected to stones too much but, lets say i did.
    can you please explain , as scientifically as you can , why it is a problem with beryllium treated stones if your only stated reason is that it USED to not be yellow ?
    i mean,, if your only scientific reason are color, being in a previous state of purple or green or whatever, and it now is yellow,, and that if you can prove its the same yellow color as untreated yellow sapphire, , ,, what exactly is your reason ?

    • @ThaiNativeGems
      @ThaiNativeGems  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree what you have stated. If you don't believe in 'astrological' properties then beryllium treated yellow sapphire is perfectly fine. In fact the color is stable and you don't have to worry about it fading, etc.,
      However, you do have to take into account that these stones are not 'rare' and therefore you should not pay as much as a 'natural' yellow sapphire. In fact they are substantially cheaper.
      Scientifically, natural yellow sapphires get their color from trace element "Iron" and not "Beryllium."
      I have no issues with beryllium treated sapphires. The only issue I have is the sellers who selling these as a 'natural' yellow sapphire and asking them in similar price range even though they don't fit this category.
      Also the reason why I stated astrological reasoning in this video because a lot consumers in India do buy yellow sapphires for 'astrological' purposes and don't know what beryllium treated sapphires are and they do buy for this particular purpose. They believe yellow sapphire represents 'Jupiter' in their charts and believe buying these stones will make their luck or destiny change.
      Personally I don't believe in this either but again I am not judging anyone and just trying to educate people what the difference in treatments, and natural stones are.
      Thanks for your comments and thoughts.
      Best Regards,
      Tarun Gupta, GIA GG

    • @QuadDerrick

      @@ThaiNativeGems In the video (5:26) you say that due to the fact that it used to have another color , that is an issue for astrology purposes.
      it sorta do very much sounded like, it was the color that was the issue.
      you sound and act like a gentleman, i am sorry for attacking you Mr. Gupta.
      i have this detective living inside me, he have a need to explore and detect everything , even when its not a good outcome , he just MUST ask ALL the questions. sometimes we reach out and destroy things in our quest for exploring we are sorry.
      "They believe yellow sapphire represents 'Jupiter' in their charts and believe buying these stones will make their luck or destiny change. "
      im thinking, if astrology people want to use yellow beryllium treated sapphires for luck, or or destiny, you should have a scientific reason behind it when you say they can not. or else it become questionable and i want to ask if you are selling gems for a living....
      it is like keeping someone away from true love cause you want a dollar
