What a fantastic interview. And I think Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is truly his signature piece. He plays it like no-one else and it fits his life message so well. Parkening-What a gift to guitarists everywhere! And the stories in this interview are solid gold.

All true brother, he is a gift of a human being, and as far as Jesu goes, that is one hard piece the way he plays it. I play it in standard tuning in the key of G but it didn't sound anywhere as good as his, so I tried playing it his way. Its been a few years, Im still working on it haha.

I love the way Christopher told his life stories about learning music rather than learning how to play the guitar. Most teachers lost the main objective of learning the musicality aspect than focus on the guitar techniques. Or at least to strike the balance between good fingering and music interpretation aspect. He got the clear message all the time, to play musically by having the right fingering of music piece. Excellent can be obtained through hard work, however, success of an artist/ guitarist can be base on luck, timing, your mentor/ had great teachers and hard work too.

Well, it was a relief to hear about how rough those two pieces were for him, I worked like crazy on those and gave up on both! lol still love them though....

Obrigado Marcelo, é raro ouvir as perguntas certas com respostas claras vinda de um brilhante músico. GuitarCoop está de parabéns pela iniciativa.

Mr. Kayath is a great interviewer. Even when he interrupts Mr. Parkening, he was able to get away with it because his was a relevant questions.

is there anything about his right hand strokes? I've heard he has managed to invent(or redefine) different kinds of strokes to produce various tones. please leave a comment if there is a source about it. thnx
