When the Presso came out I knew it was game on. I can't believe that BG-1 kept a curve and didn't straighten out. Holly smokes that is insaine. That is also bizzare that a flat head was interested in such a small morsel. You need to file that video under the "folks you won't believe this" category.
U nailed it first in all comments. WHY would a flathead this size expend energy eating this? Even if this was real food, it has almost zero calories and energy… not worth pursuit
Perfect example of why I love ultralight fishing! Thanks for the video and for all the effort and education you put out on this style of fishing. I think now I need to go get me some BG-1 heads!
i get several comments from people who didnt mind watching the whole thing, but when i analyze the performance of my videos, the longer the video the harder it is to get good views. But this catch is important for me and i wanted to have the full video for my own memories.
I fish the White River in Arkansas, not long ago hooked something I could not move. Have caught a few +10lb drum in that area, and a Walleye at 31.5". All of those have been heavy and strong, but not crazy fights. The fish I hooked bit on a Texas rigged Biffle Bug, and with a MH rod and 14lb line I could not steer it. Was using a Conquest 100HG and the reel did well, but this fish was unmovable. Didn't get more than 10-15 yards from the boat, but continually dug down until I finally got snagged on stumps or something in the current.
Wow! What a testament to the quality of your BG-1 jig heads. I am glad you did not stop the footage, there would have been skeptics on that catch! I have caught 2 lb smallmouth bass on the BG-1 no problem, but beast of a flathead like that? Great video Victor! Although I know how bad that hurts, the "I am cramping now" took the video to a whole new lever for me! Be safe Victor and as always, tight lines and good luck my friend.
Incredible catch Mr Victorious, that must have felt better than a shark that people catch on their extra heavy action rods. Most people will never know the feling until they hook something of that magnitude on their ulra light themselves . 💪👍👏
@@ifishcatfish Ultralight is relaxing to watch. I’ve seen a billion catfish videos. I still love catfishing, I just want better action on lighter tackle. I’m looking to suspend 4 light tackle rigs(2000 series reels on medium to light rods with 20lb braid and 40lb mono leaders) and drag 2 same rigs out back. I may retain medium heavy rigs on planer boards.
2 hours one way... I used to drive 3 hours one way to Lake Clinton in IL regularly. In the winter that was the only open water around me.. It was 6 hours driving and 6 hours fishing.
@@ifishcatfish when you were in Chicago area did you listen to Chris Plante on the radio? I know he’s on there… He broadcasts out of DC and is really great, you’d like him. God bless, buddy, glad you’re doing so well.
i appreciate the comment. Its hard to get people to stick to a video for more than 5 minutes, but this is a catch to remember and i just wanted the full video.
Temper! That is the exact term. They will snap when u reach the threshold, but they never deform under that threshold, and the very tip of the hook, in front of the barb, is the hardest i have seen in my life. No other hook, not even daiwa gekkabijin Black, has such resilient tip. You can snag on a rock and somehow when u test the tip against your skin, it is still straight!
Victor, what's your favorite knot for tying on bg1 with 2lb test? I was using 3 or 4 and breaking off left and right on stuff that shouldn't break any line
what line do u have? Check how it breaks by hand.. I use Uni knot for everything, but Uni knot is not the strongest or anything... this is just what i have been using since a child. Make sure your line is not bad. Also i usually fish with 3 lb leader on top of my 2 lb main line
thats the best line in the world. There is something else going on. It doesnt even make sense to me. Just make sure you are tying your knot correctly! You can use WHATEVER knot you like,, but tie it correctly. All knots are strong enough. I tell people to use the knot which they can tie the best
Victor, greetings from Deutschland. Thoroughly entertaining video. You were in pain, and I was in stitches 😂. BG-1 going above & beyond! Any action on the V. C2000S?
What happened, Gary? Email me? The c2000s caught some nice bass but not in a day where i made video. And i have to admit when the bite was good i preferred to fosh with the 1000w corto over 2000w yamaga blanks…
yes, but because i landed it. But you don't see the videos where i lose 20 mins chasing a gar and he just breaks the line. If i am on a good crappie bite, i don't want to lose 30 mins chasing a carp or drum or catfish

Absolute monster, what a great catch. That BG-1 is a true winner there my friend!
Wow, what a catch Victor. Your BG-1 works well under the harshest of circumstances. Great video.

great comment - i appreciate it!
Man, those hooks are really something!
Well done.
What an unbelievable catch! I need Daiwa Presso rods now! 🎣
UNBELIEVABLE ❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
BRAVO
Outstanding. So glad you didn’t cut the video. It was definitely worth the wait.

wow,,,, thanks for sharing
Big fish on ultra lite, God you have to love that stuff. It will make for a great memory. Also the adding about cramping up, is a nice touch too. 😁
I think i will remember that catch for many years, yes. That's why i wanted the whole video

there comes a point where my jigs will snap at the round bend. But until u reach that level they will stand right there and will never deform.
The Presso is still in one piece and the BG-1 delivered without snapping the hook. Heck of a kitty kitty!
this presso, with this reel, WITH THIS LINE (never changed it) landed a 40" musky, some 5 or 6 years ago. I refuse to put new line on this reel : )
Victor, that flathead catfish had acquired stealth skin to be invisible to your sonar.
like Sukhoi-57 !

That’s why I’m downsizing my equipment 👍🏼
you are secretly watching ultralight videos instead of catfish videos...

these dams all look the same, but no, this is a different spot. He's a little further south, in Alabama..

No need to apologize for not cutting the video it keeps us in the boat with you I swear I feel like I'm right there with the rod in my hand LOL
you are a good sport Victor
Nice Flathead Victor

thank you sir
Nice catch 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
That was awesome great video man I really want to get some jigheads soon they seem amazing
there is only 54 packs available of the black color, as of me typing it. Probably gone tomorrow. But the unpainted should be around for a while.

: )
The size of that thing on a small hook and did I see that right? 6lb line!
6 lb is heavy line :). But the jig is… go buy some and u will see :)
That spot looks like money everyday of the year🎣. Do you ever target the sauger and walleye there Vic?
No. But if they are here i would catch them anyway. Sometimes i get ine here and there
