It's called Czardas. It was originally a violin piece that quite a few famous tubists have popularized for tuba. Check out Oystein Baadsavik's version.
dont know why he played this on a marching contra it would have sounded much cleaner on a concert tuba the tone on the contra is kind of crappy at the faster parts he is absolutly incredible though i wish i was that good
Matthew Fasic He did this for a competition while he was marching for the blue devils. I'm sure if he had the opportunity he would have used a concert tuba. But he's on tour and only had his contra available for his competition.
He uses his concert tuba in later videos. System Blue sponsors Individual and Ensemble competitions, I think there might night have been enough room for him to take a concert tuba or he may not have reserved the room quick enough cause he has one in the next year.
It annoys me that people always try to send you in the direction of oystein badsvik (sorry if I butchered the spelling), granted he is a phenomenal player, he's not the only tuba player that can play this. There's les neish for example or Simon Howell how about the originator of the tuba veriation of czardas, john fletcher!!! There are so many amazing versions of this piece. And to say that he played it wrong is the equivalent of correcting someone's opinion. Czardas is a very free moving piece. There is no correct way of playing it, it's all down to interpretation. I believe that the piece is described with the words Molto Rubato. That's my little rant over😅.
garrett smith Don't bring a Sousaphone. You want your audition to sound as best as it possibly can, and quite frankly a Sousaphone will never sound as good as a bell front tuba or a concert tuba.
A contrabass bugle's sound is more focused and directional as the marcher has the ability to angle the bell up to press box and such more easily and practically than a sousaphone. The obvious difference is their shape of course but beyond that they are simply two different types of marching tubas. One is more traditional and classic, that being the sousaphone, and one is more practical and useful, the contra.

never knew the tuba could be so pretty
My band director use to say a band without a tuba is like having a steak dinner buy just having the potatoes and not estting the steak
Czardas favorite tuba solo, you guys should also listen to Øystein Baadsvik play this.
+slavic0807 Baadsvik kills this solo!

Damian Wayne it's the tuba mating call

I've got a Bach 18 mouthpiece, but the one he's using seems absolutely Huge.

I had a question when auditioning for tuba do you have to have a contra to audition with or can you audition with a sousaphone
At audition camps you receive a contra for the weekend. Another option is to bring a concert tuba, but do not bring a Sousa.
Lol ok

Chris Broaddus yea using a sousa would basically make it impossible to make it
Triple tongue or just double?
Sounds like triple
Hi Blue. I want that parts. I´M from Colombia. Can you give me this solo?
What model marching tuba is that?
Lik Chern Lee This is probably a Jupiter Quantum BBb marching tuba (contra)

Johnrock99 hi

carkorot I liked baadsvik playing it more
No one can give any criticism these days...
@@SafetyTheDuck I would say giving good criticism, or being able to provide an example of doing better
what is the main difference between this type of tuba and a sousaphone
this type of tuba sounds good
+BlueRhino23 is that it
+twicetheKing basically
A Sousa is more blunt while a contrabass ( the soloist tuba) is modified for marching.

Does anyone know the name of this solo or where I could get the music
Crunchy Oreo it's called "Czardas" by Vittorio Monti

1:25 that's joke?It sounds like whatever notes he know
He can play it better on a better horn. It is already at a really high level for a contra.
When you only a freshmen 😭
Sounds much better on euphonium. Go check out David child’s video
Lindberg did it best
