  • The SAM splint is a foam splint that is very versatile and can be used in many different applications. Simply mold the SAM splint to the patient and then bend the edges up to give the splint rigidity. These can be used to stabilize joints and long bones and can even be used to make an improvised C-Collar in a pinch.

    I love the look of these things, seems way more versatile and effective than just looking around to find a couple sticks to splint with.

      Yes, it’s a great option for splinting. And it’s super lightweight so it’s pretty easy to stick in your kit.

    I wonder what happens if we don’t have that specific splint or we don’t have a board at the moment?

      You can get creative with a magazine rolled up or anything else you can find. Worst case scenario just hold it in place and minimize movement as best as possible until you can get to the ER.
