Seems like you would want the external recorder's output turned up and the camera's down to take as much of the camera's pre-amp out of the equation as possible but in my limited tests that doesn't work. Do you really gain much regarding a better recording this way or is it more about the convenience of getting synched audio? Great video, btw.
very informative video, thanks can you help me with the information on Sennheiser G3 mic setting for Nikon DSLR I get lot of hissy background noise/ will the use of USB adapter help to reduce this background voice?
+Vikas Sharma That's a good question. No a USB adapter won't help you in this case. You will need a device to increase the mic gain before it goes into the camera so you can lower the volume on your Nikon. This will drop the noise floor (hiss) on the camera. I will soon upload a video about using a Zoom recorder to do this job. +Curtis Judd has put together a video on a number of popular adapters that may help. Thanks for asking. Help please. I use a 1/4 inch adapter for my 3.5 mm headphone, but it doesn't sound stereo anymore, it only sounds on the left part, the right part is silent.
Some times if your 3.5mm or the 1/4 in section is not plugged in all the way the sound will only be one side. The other more likely thing is it is broken inside. Sorry.
I don't use any of those adapters. I always carry my trusty soldering iron, some cables and a few connectors. And i have a small case with 25 cm cables (my own adapters), covering most need for stage....It seems the better choice, right?
Great presentation- very helpful
Thanks Ron, I appreciate the feedback.

Yes, using adaptors is always a temporary fix. Great to hear you have a mobile kit for stage setup. Thanks for adding your comment.
Dear Sir
Do Sony 71d music system mic port provide phantom power to condenser mic ?
Poor grammer. Not the "amount" of adapters. It's the "number" of adapters.
Thanks Paul for the correction. Good point.
It is spelled _grammar._
