    Howdy Brother Travis- you’re quite a fabricator. I’m not much when it comes to working with metal. I cannot weld a lick. So thankful for my brother who is a welder. He takes care of little brother lol. Hope you get the electric part figured out. I ain’t much with electrical either. Come to think of it, I’m kinda limited lol. Hope y’all are doing well. Take care and God bless

      Those types of speed controls are for very small low draw motors. Variable voltage devices with a very limited speed control range. Even a small ATV winch will draw far too many amps and burn them out. The winch motor is also limited in its duty cycle. Not for continuous operation. A smooth feed rate will also be an issue due to the planetary drive on the winch as the slack or compounded play ln the gear train loads and unloads. Variable speed motors and drives are expensive regardless of ac or DC. Learned my lesson from the same process sir.

      And your controller will work the variable speed then and get limited switches on each side of your mill to shut it off at the end of the track! I'm working on mine too , I'm also putting a safety kill switch on it for emergency shut down , good luck I hope I've helped I'm learning a lot too! Lol. Take care my brother Robert Alabama

      @roberttidmore647 i didnt put limit switches on it. I had to add another battery for the 24V wheelchair system. Fabbed a bracket to hold both motors b/c the computer wont run unless both motors were plugged in.

    I did a power feed on my homebuilt mill using the speed controller like yours. The switch lasted about a week and I had the same issues. Sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't. Replace the cheap switch and no problems now

      What did you replace it with? Im looking at Woodmizers speed control...

    Just subscribed! Thanks for the video and your honesty. I built a feed drive like yours and bought several speed controls that didn’t work also. Just a long handle return to center off toggle switch will make the feed go both ways, I installed a reversing solenoid and ran smaller wires to secure maximum voltage to the winch motor. That said I haven’t found a controller for speed, did you ever get something to work? I’ve been looking at some trolling motor five speed switches but really would like a infinite controller? Need help in Arkansas. Thanks

      Thanks for the support. I havent found a speed control yet. Im looking at woodmizers but i neet to call and male sure it will work. I found another one but its super expensive.

    I was going to use one of those cheap switches, guy who builds my mill sent me a link to the switches he uses but they are over $200

      Well if it will control the speed id be happy with the price. Ive found the woodmizer speed control for 60 or $70 i think. Been awhile since i looked. Im not sure if theirs needs to plug into a circut board or not though. I will be getting something figured out soon.... as soon as the snow melts lol. Thanks for stoppin by. STAY SAFE!!

      A/C will be easy. A dimmer switch should do it. Thanks for stoppin by.

    Might trying different size sprockets

    • @307j.o.a.t9
      @307j.o.a.t9  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I might. Its a tough thing to change sprockets but could work. The biggest thing is the speed controller. They keep going out when the mill is off and no power to it. STAY SAFE!!
