1:48 is a moment that should be getting significantly more attention. Down 6 - 2, the Mariners rip yet another line drive into the outfield with a runner in scoring position. Another run and a 7 - 2 score looked imminent. The rout was on. It looked like SEA came to play and simply overwhelmed the Astros. They gave them more than they could handle. Then Alvarez - a player with a bizarre and grossly inaccurate reputation as being merely a DH - scoops up the ball as the runner is already past 3rd and is 1/3 of the way home and throws an absolute lazer from 300ft away, saving the run, ending the inning, and stopping the bleeding. Next inning Gurriel pops one into the crawford boxes and the slow methodical comeback begins. Without that throw from Alvarez there would have been no comeback, no sweep, and who knows how the rest of the series would have unfolded.

Alvarez and Pena are getting a bunch of credit, that they obviously deserve, but let's not forget how much of a difference it's made having a healthy Bregman. They have to pitch to Alvarez a lot more now that Bregman is healthy and he's been a weapon on defense again.

    • @aquila519

A SWING AND A MISS! Got him to chase……pitch was almost right down the middle. That’s not a chase. When u chase it’s a pitch OUT OF THE STRIKE ZONE. Why are professionals so bad at their jobs? Constantly. It doesn’t help expanding and reinvigorating the sport, which is what baseball is trying to do. When the TV broadcast sounds like guys who have never seen a baseball game it’s a problem. It’s not helping that’s for sure

Have they ever even made it to an ALCS? Never mind the World Series, have they even made it to a CS?? What a disgrace. What do those fans have to be excited about. They’ve literally never won anything ever. How are their fans and f that team still to this day? I don’t understand how losing teams that NEVER win can last in this industry. It’s bizarre. It shouldn’t work. People shouldn’t support losing. Would change the game positively if people would boycott horribleness
