Full coverage of the final in the women's 100m hurdles event as Australia's Sally Pearson wins the gold medal with the USA's Dawn Harper and Kellie Wells winning silver and bronze at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

its quite amazing how after years of training it comes down to what you do in 13 seconds
I know! I always wonder what if someone was having an off day or feeling a bit under the weather etc like 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Kowhai Harakeke Sport is mixed with luck and yeah bad things do happen in the wrong times.
Her form was flawless from start to finish, a hurdling machine. And Dawn Harper, an heroic effort.
I LOVE YOU...
@@kowhaiharakeke8881 are you maori
Absolutely love how happy the 3 medalist were . Great sportsmanship ladies
+Esti Luke And now one is injured and the other didn't qualify :( Both of them will be missing in Rio
+Jalen Jonas who is injured and who didn't qualify? That is soooo sad! :(
yessss im australian!! GO SALLY
me 2
I didn't see Harper congratulating Pearson, the bronze medalist had some great sportsmanship
Oh my God I almost cried because Sally looked really nervous and then the results came up and she just started screaming of happiness and ahhhh
Ton frère et ta soeur descendent t,ils
C
I did cry. Im a 31 year old man.
I love how happy WELLS is even though she got third. It's such a huge achievement to get to the Olympics let alone win a medal and I think some athletes forget that
Not if you are from India. We celebrate all these moments that you mentioned.
Exactly even our players perform well and not qualify for medals we appreciate ✌️
If I was competing in the Olympics, I'd be super happy to get a medal at all, to be the 2nd or 3rd best of all the people competing in that event and getting recognised for that is an amazing accomplishment, some people forget that.
Bronze medalist are usually more happy than silver medalist. Silver medallist are usually bummed cause they feel they could've won the gold.
A great race. How about the great show of sportsmanship by Kellie Wells and Dawn Harper!
Do bad they hate on Lolo Jones who finished a respectable 4th
+Richard Johnson Referring to the initial comment by Barbara Maier.
9175rock ok last time. ? Because they're jealous of the attention she gets. It's not her fault.
+Richard Johnson Im talking about the fact that ppl are expected to show good sportmanship. Idk what your digging at but ok.
+Richard Johnson Still dont know what your saying but IF thats the case then absolutely Harper and Wells show great sportsmanship.
sally pearson has some of the best looking abs i have ever seen. And she can run fast
Hurdlers need to have strong abs. It's part of what helps them get their legs up and over the hurdles fast. Try lifting your legs up when you've pulled an abdominal muscle and you'll see how necessary they are.
Foster's
I have seen better. All these athletes have some amazing abs
almost as good as shirvo's bouncy package
Pearson`s hand was the FIRST !!! She is a champion!
Sally has now retired, thank you for some of the most riveting moments in sport Sally, an all time champion.
Agreed. It is a thrilling race.
The best race I have ever seen....
Rivalry start in 2008 Olympic.
Harper gold, selly silver.....
But won by selly in 2012 Olympic.
Selly gold and Harper silver....
Incredible...
Love from India❤❤❤
How many hurdle races do you see where not a single hurdle so much as bobbled the entire race? Amazing race by all the women!
Sally Pearson, Dawn Harper & Kellie Wells 3 absolute stars!! so confident yet humble at the same time!
Harper. Humble? Never bothered to congratulate the winner...
@@tajaun3467 Not once in that 10+ minute video did Harper approach Pearson. Wells gave her an enthusiastic congratulatory hug... Harper nowhere to be seen, in fact her whole post-race performance looked forced & fake. So no, not blind... You?
Her shout was so Australian.
i love how harper is so happy for pearson!
I think she was also happy she set a PB in the race.
@Alchemica Blackwood my gosh you are so busy spreading hate in this comment section. What are you doing with your life??
@Alchemica Blackwood what are American black girls like
I'm very keen on hearing what negative stereotypes you have. I love how race immediately determines someone's characters. So so very smart.
@Alchemica Blackwood so u said all american black women disgusting attitude, ignorant, no self respect? Is that how u view ur people of american? So u assuming no one black women in America nice attitude?
She's not. Its so fake. 5:25.she's pretty much mocking, trolling her.
One of the best and cleanest hurdle races you'll ever see. Pearson and Harper were flawless. But Sally's start was the difference.
In truth I think Sally is one of the absolute best performers I have ever seen. I do not believe I have ever seen anyone who so flawlessly clears a hurdle like she does. If you took a snap of her crossing the hurdle, you could virtually super impose it over each other hurdle, and you would find her in exactly the same place. As she exits each hurdle she is mothing but smoothness, and it is my belief that this is what gets her the win most of the time.
the nervous smiles before the race though. I can tell some are quivering in their bones; I can only imagine the feelings before a race like that. Wow
the smell of the athletes toilets during event time is a clue to how their stomachs are acting
Wow...the top two finishers matched and set a new Olympic record. That was some race. Incredibly fast!
Don't trust those old old Soviet type records
yes agree, sally was 1st to jump the 1st hurdle i believe. only just, then the gap got bigger , sally has retired now, she was aiming for the next Olympics, but her ankle has major issues now, she was training not that long ago this year
Don't forget to check Sally Pearson's comments on this fantastic race! :) th-cam.com/video/ckSXLrXQ9Yc/w-d-xo.html
I always come back here for:
Sally's scream
Dawn's Smiles
Kellie's screams.
Really nice to see.💚
~ a Nigerian fan.
Sally collapsing with joy and exhaustion is how I want to live my life. My queen, Aussie icon, true champ.
Sally Pearson represented my favorite country on earth and she made it.I love everything about Australia
so proud!!! what a accomplishment for Australia woooooooo!!!
Sally competing with all those ladies from the US. Good for her!
THAT SCREAM!!! So triumphant!! We absolutely love you Sally. You are a hero to us. Your determination is spectacular and utterly inspirational.
One of the most exciting races I've ever seen.
Amazing race, I am so happy for Sally Pearson. She really looked amazed and full of joy.
LoL! Harper refused to fall down at the end.
What is your point here? She also didn't bother to congratulate the winner!
Great race!! I'm a proud Australian and the sportsmanship was 1st class from these amazing athletes.
4:50 don't just chuck her flag on the track like that.... Just walk to her and put it in her hand.
That was I was thinking so I was checking comments to see if anyone else noticed.
It’s from a group of aussies in the stands. They can’t go on the track. There’s photographers in front of them.
Congrats to one of my favorite countries... "Australia".
You deserve it.
As an Australians thank you
What country are you from? I'm Australian
such a superb final. I can't imagine running the way harper did and still finishing second.. the field was that fast!!
OMG IM CRYING 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 The exhilaration when she was revealed as the winner 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Sally wins and cements her greatness
Fantastic run, what an athlete Sally is she looked like a machine when she was running
yes in the mechanical robotic zone, just like JO flo, no wobbles, loose arms, extended leg front kicks , with short back extensions, perfect style for her movements , fantastic viewing these runners
Can't be a better sport than Dawn Harper. Class.
Sally WON,Brilliant but Dawn did so well.Congrats.,Sally.....so deserved Big Up to You
the sexiest sport on earth! Pearson was phenomenal in this race and Harper was equal to the task. Harpers reaction and sportsmanship was the best I have seen from any athlete. Rio will be even more dynamic!
no pearson in rio tho... shame
How its sexiest?
smh
Creep
@@michelle_elizabeth6181 Humourless.
4:11 that feeling you get when you are one of the best in the world is totally irreplaceable.
When she start crying and screaming.. I really want to hug her.. All the hard work payed of.. And he deserve a hug..
:-)
Congratulation
Can you imagine that moment when you dream has came true? All her life she trained for that one moment. What a joy.
Can’t believe Olympics support Aussies Thx so much
I consider myself a pretty big sports fan; AFL, EPL, NBA, NFL, Tennis, MLB, Cricket, Athletics, MMA.... And this is one of the gutsiest wins I have ever seen by an Aussie in any arena.. clutch AF. Love Sally!
she's amazing, just glides over those hurdles
In the slow motion (6:12 to 6:30) compare the facial expressions on Sally Pearson and the rest. Sally's is calm and concentrated, the rest are in total pain and striving. Just shows how much command Sally had over her entire performance. Total focus.
Why you gotta spoil the winner in the title & thumbnail -_-
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI.
Yea
VictorYong36 AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI back at you
This was an incredible race. Incredible Champions all of them.
Thanks for the great memories Sally 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Down harper you make everyone loves you ...❤️from srilanka
Well done to Sally and what an amazing achievement! Not just a first place medal but also an olympic record!
Perfect performance under great pressure, Sally shows what hard work and commitment is all about.
Wonderfully competitive and wonderful spirit between the competitors. Wish that sort of steel and spirit was across all sports.
Yay Australia 🇦🇺 I’m from there nice to see aus finally won a race that isn’t only Australia
Sally still has the best technique and hurdling I've ever seen... Just superb.
Even after Tokyo the Gold and silver medal winners would have did it again with them times. Just goes to show how stacked this field was.
Sally Pearson is such an amazing hurdler, a shame it is that she cannot attend Rio 2016..
Why not?
She tore her hamstring during training.
+Georjah Allen damn i was looking forward to her and Brianna Rollins again
Good that u replied to that statement and clarified the confusion yourself.otherwise I thought she got disqualified on the charges of doping etc
+sbdgrwnmrw she tore her hamstring during training before Olympics.
yes indeed its sad but its ok we have another Aussie representing us.
All the best to runners
Even as an Aussie Sally fan, can't help being impressed by Dawn Harper. Always doing her best and so joyous and respectful even if she loses.
I will miss the olympics this year.Great race.
Sally Pearson smashed them!!!! Go Australia
Sally Pearson was a very talented hurdler and was a great ambassador for Australia. Indeed she was.
sally was amazing... good speed and technique.....
go sally pearson your my hero
Sally is just the cutest thing you can't help but just feel her joy when she saw her name come up on that screen. Good for you Sally you deserved it so so much. All hail the hurdle queen! But definitely not to forget about Dawn and Kellie who also turned out stellar performances. My goodness I just love the olympics.
Great to re-watch!
what a scream on realisation of the gold!!!! absolute legend!!!
An Australian hero, a champion on and off the track. Silver medalist at the same event in the previous Olympicz. Sally was the favorite, the world champion and with her silver medal success at Beijing Australia was following her all the way to the London. She was unbeatable leading into the Olympics and carried huge weight of expectation. Australia rarely has track and field athletes who are finalists., so when a talent pushes onto and reaches the elite level we follow them all the way...we knew noone was faster than Sally, noone knows how uf that fact alone will get her the gold - but it did...you can barely watch, your heart is racing and your praying she achieves her goal and the whole nation knows that anything other than gold would be dissappointing for Sally..Her determination to succeed is not just for herself, its not to feed her own ego, she is really running for the people of Australia and every accolade that came her way she remained humble and true to herself. A lifetime of training and an expectation equal to what Cathy would of felt in Sydney 2000..it was the lifetime of practice that got her the gold.. It wasnt Sallys best race, best races are the ones run on aecond nature allowing your body to give an extrat burst cause theres no thought its all flowing and you then get that burst.. it is obvious the weight of expectation from well wishes alone was becoming draining. Fo us on what she trained everyday for slowed her but also got her the gold. Free flowing comes down to this one moment they are thelifetime of practice for that one moment. Sally won silver at the previous Olympics which was a great achievement ereAustralia loves their sportsm had the
+Tresor ME so so so true, said it beautifully......
the happiness is so lovely to see
Sally represents the aussie quality of great technique and terrific form.. I grew up doing athletics for 10 years, the leg snapping, 1,2,3 hurdle etc. we all learnt that from a young age.. I am a thrower and I still remember the exact way to hurdle 😂 Aussie aths deserves more recognition for real
That is beast mode!
love ya sally, absolutely smashed it
I was at the stadium that night. The result seemed to take an eternity but on watching the video it wasn’t so long!
I can imagine what athletes feel that is the happiness of feeling pride!
Very gracious reaction from the Americans. But Sally - you're SUCH an Aussie!
Wow they did so good never seen everyone so close and not one hurdle down I don't think.
wow... harper... such a gracious runner-up...
Mi Key Remember 2008... Sally was more than gracious to her as well.
It was so fake.
Eva B. let’s not compare sportsmanship, both are great athletes and great losers
4:14 The moment when the cockroach started to fly.
They're brown not black dummy
What?
Bhahahaha I hate when that happens
Huh
So impressive
the camera of the runners looking at the hurdles at the beginning was awesome. A lifetime of training for these 12 seconds....incredible. The pressure must have been intense
Can you please upload all the Salley pearson 2012 Olympics races? All the trials...full segments , including all the intros??
I was living on the other side of the Thames river, I swear I could hear that scream, wonderful wonderful.
What a beautiful example of great sportsmanship by these Women my Gosh, come on Human Race follow this example. Well done Ladies
Some people just love one particular stadium - Sally is arguably the queen of this one after 2017.
Sally is awesome.
Great moment !!
She looked really determined
sALLY PEARSON, CONGRATULATION VERY PROUD OF YOU.
That beautiful.
Most always the smoothest form wins these running races.
Wells soocute at the end !
GO AUSSIE!!!! WHOOOP. AWESOME JOB SALLY!
Amazing.
Her abs are so aesthetic!
I love these photo finish races . Sally Pearson was refreshing because she was so concentrated and serious just before the race . The prevailing attitude now is joke around before the race .
Pearson`s hand was the FIRST !!! She is a champion! Look at 6.26 - her hand was the first .
Tremenda carrera se me tieron justa ganadora queda para su recuerdo
Great run by Sally Pearson by mark Jones author of the book great Jamaican athletes
beautiful to see this, one of tough race but these 3 women so enjoyed their medal, Sally on her peak, the best one! Dawn Harper defending champion from Beijing working so hard that year and bring passion to the race as she done before, Kellie wells, this girl had many injure on her carrier , one of her big achievement in her life that day, no wonder they both enjoyed that moment! beautiful
Pearson`s hand was the FIRST !!! She is a champion! Look at 6.26 - her hand was the first .
Damn I think if she attended this Olympics she would've won again...damn injuries .-.
she's too old
Christian 0000 anything can happen. Like Japan beating usa in the relay
Haven that is completely different, and if you know anything about the sprinting world, Japan is a fast country and we will be seeing them a lot more in the future Olympics
Nah Brianna Rollin would have beat her anyway
I believe Nia Ali ran faster times this season as well I think...regardless America has the best 100m hurdlers anyway Kendra Harrison didnt even make the Olympics
wow that was in the rain too
The purpose behind the years training tirelessly is the very journey of perfecting those 13 sec
awesome
What a good sport (the runner up)
That’s the way I love American athletes, they always shown sportsmanship
