The charcoal filter should be installed AFTER the softener. If you put it before the softener it will remove the chlorine and bacteria can form.

SOMETHING YOU NEED TO MENTION = After you've been filtering water for a period of time, the filter elements of your system will be filling up with captured radioactive materials. The filter elements are now dangerous and need to be handled with care, stored away from you and your family, etc.

    • @RealitySurvival

Yep that is a fair point. The amount in them will be quite small and shouldn’t be a problem unless you are sleeping near them or something. But if it was kept in a garage or shed or something it would be good to go. Then just bury it when they start to get clogged.

Russia has cried nuke a zillion times, and they only do it because it looks “strong” at home, and to try to scare Western voters to vote out anyone who doesn’t give in to their threats….so they can make more and more threats. It is all bluff.

thanks for the great info! i did not know about radioactive gasses dissolved in water. you mentioned a gallon of water a day for drinking/consumption, which is a good estimate to start with. what i have learned by trail and error to see if that is possible for me, is that i needed about 2.6 gallons a day for drinking, cooking and brushing my teeth. i came to this figure by practicing living on just minimum amount that i could. what i have been storing for food needs water, foods like rice and mountain house meals. cooking needs are something to think about. and coffee/tea. i am a caffeine addict. i hope others will try for themselves to see how much they will need based off their plans and what they have stored for food.what i need to do next is figure out how much i need for showers, washing clothes, washing dishes, using the bathroom, and general cleaning. i am estimating about 50 gallons a day.

They would eventually have enough to be a concern but as long as they are not stored anywhere close to where you spend a bunch of time it is not likely to cause too much of a concern. But they should be disposed of in a manner like burying them so as not to be an issue.

@RealitySurvival Good idea. I'm a member of a volunteer group CERT ( community emergency response team ) We to help local LEO and first Responders in disasters and emerging situations. We have a training called REVC ( Radiological emergency response Corp ) We are trained to assist in shelters and gathering radiation levels after a radiological event. CERT was established in 2017 as a result of the earthquakes Mexico, when it determined that if the community was better prepared they could have survived longer until medical help got to them and save many lives. Every state in the US has CERT mostly larger couties ( just because the word of mouth hasn't gotten out enough yet ) I'd be glad to get some information to ya and let ya check it out. WE'RE THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND UNTILL THE LEO and FIRE DEPT. and EMS and THE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES GET TO DISASTERS.

    • @RealitySurvival
      @RealitySurvival  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah CERT is great. I’m pretty familiar with it. I have recommended people get involved with it for quite a while. Make sure to use an actual Geiger counter for checking food and water contamination. As a radiological survey meter that you might use in CERT would not be sensitive enough to pick up trace amounts.

You can find them online as well as in craft stores. The mechanics or physics of it may well provide similar if not the same purpose when applied as a filtration medium. ???

The reason why river estuaries are so muddy is due to a process called 'flocculation'.
Negatively charged clay particles suspended in the river water meet positively charged ions in the sea water (calcium, magnesium etc). This cause the clay particles to react, clump together and settle out as estuarine silt and mud.
What has this got to do with nuclear fallout?
Well Strontium and Caesium (typical radionuclides associated with fallout) are positively charged, so filtering water through a clay filter should remove the main fallout components.

The easiest way to think about is the dog crap analogy.
Contamination, in this case the fallout, is the crap. The radiation it gives off is the stink.
The biggest problem is stepping in or handling it, because it spreads just like tracking dog crap through the house.
Most modern nukes are made of materials that can be metabolized, so if it is ingested you'll take the rads while it's in your system but it will pass through. It won't stay in your system and continue to emit. Just take your iodine supplements to keep saturated.
I'm only moderately concerned about fallout from modern nuclear weapons. Ten years in that field.
