Nuclear radiation: How to protect yourself from fallout

  • Since the start of Putin’s invasion, The Russian leader has used nuclear rhetoric to threaten Nato allies and countries that support Ukraine.
Putin’s nuclear sabre rattling has caused unease across the globe as potential nuclear attacks plague on the minds off the public.
In reality though the risk of any nuclear strike from a foreign nation is always incredibly low, some military analysts have even commented the risk of an attack has never exceeded 1% in recent years.
We spoke to Professor Patrick Regan from the National Physical Labourity and The University of Surrey about what the public can do to survive the radiation from a nuclear strike in a worst case scenario event.

@@michaelsaucedo9233 Be more worried about what is in the food, water and medicines if you really want to live a long, healthy life. You need to be more concerned with what your own government is doing to you than what the Russian government is doing. It's The British Government that just sent depleted Uranium shells to The Russian border to be used in a proxy war. If The Russians did that to Britain, NATO would invade Russia immediately. Look up this on your search engine-

As the sergeant taught me, back in the Soviet Army, during a nuclear explosion, it is necessary to hold the machine gun at arm's length so that drops of molten metal do not drip onto the official uniform.

Well I live less than an hour away from one of the largest cities in the United States, that being Atlanta Georgia and I would imagine if another country fired several nukes here, Atlanta being such a densely populated area would be one of the targets for sure, so I would imagine my best bet to avoid nuclear fallout would be to just get lucky and die in the blast so it's painless. One of my two workplaces is only 20 minutes from Atlanta, so I guess my best bet would be to be at work when it happens. I would rather die instantly then to suffer from radiation poisoning.

The risk of another nuclear explosion is maybe higher than extremely unlikely and likely will occur some day on the law of averages. The deterrent argument is very relevant as proven since 1945 but people commit suicide and strange things have happened such as the Jonestown massacre and 9/11 where people have been unconcerned with death only a cause so it only takes someone in an appropriate frame of mind with likely accomplices to go through with it.

What i got from another channel is Cover attic vent windows and doors with plastic and good tape plus cardboard and or wood on the inside. If you're in a room or basement below ground level add dirt to the area where the house meets the ground so fall out doesn't creep in where the wood meets the concrete. Stay inside for a minimum of 3 days! But longer if you can. Lay on the floor these 3+ days. If in a basement make sure your head is in the corner, its the safest spot. Bury yourself in a 10' by 10' space. If possible under and between 4" of lead or 10" of steal or 24" of concrete or 36" of dirt or 72 " of water via buckets etc or 110" of wood can give a pf of 1000.

These isotopes include strontium-90, which has a half-life of 28 years, and cesium-137, which has a half-life of 33 years. Plants will soon absorb these elements from the groundwater and they will enter the food chain.

It would depend on the type of nuclear weapon. Fallout would be dangerous in a concerted multi-megaton attack with weapons designed to produce substantial fallout. Otherwise the effects would be immediate blinding light, heat, morbid or lethal ionizing radiation, blast, and the secondary flame and smoke effects within the ignition radius.
