I was genuinely scared at several points because it was like watching a nuclear reactor going off close-up. So Michael, the ex, my 2 youngest son's (16 and 14 at the time) and the 16 year son's buddy all hung out afterwards and later went to dinner. After he finished his set walking to the "green" room back stage he asked me what I thought ( of course I knew of him since OFr Nitro days) and I stopped walking, put my arm around his shoulders, looked him in eye and told him he had no technique. The discussion of who is the greatest guitar player, or greatest whatever, will always be a subjective one. Regardless, in my own personal opinion, MAB has to be right up there with the greats and definitely one of the best all out shredders I've ever heard.
Exactly! And when he shreds he knows exactly what he's doing, and what I love about MAB is that he takes a famous riff, like in this video, and improvises in the same scale that exact riff is written in. Ok that didn't make much sense. The part at 03:05 is what I'm talking about.
What distinguishes MAB amongst the guitar gods is his flat phrasing, his often disconnected ends of ideas, like what are you trying to say with this flawless admirable technique.

After watching this video again( I guess for the 600th time now), I have some feelings I'd like to share, especially knowing that Mr. Batio is reading all of these comments: I've been following you since I was 15. I am 26 now, and most of my guitar playing( the picking stance and your style of bends which you've explained in countless tutorials), have your influence in them. More importantly, you have influenced my life as a person, making me better, helping me realise that humanity shouldn't be forgotten no matter what success levels you reach. You sir, are a genuis at mind, and a loving, respectful person at heart, and A GOD of music. Thank you for existing, and thank you for influencing people like me with your dedication and humbleness. I got my first guitar in 1964 and was playing lead in a band just a few years after that to this day I do not have the skill and mastery by any measure. As Mr Batio has said many times, it is all about focus, dedication to the task and practice , practice and more practice. Thank you for the inspiration.

And he can do it with both hands on 2 necks at the same time with his arms crossed. I found his album and Vinnie Moore's about the same time and I was listening to it on the way home and decided... This man is incredible!!!!❤️👍🤠👍
just found out about the greatest guitarist of all time. got chills
Thanks!
If Randy were still alive and playing THIS IS WHAT IT WOULD SOUND LIKE!!! Michael you are a LEGEND for this... Randy is my favorite guitarist of all time. I studied his solos more than any other... This a gift! Thank you Michael Anglo!
Really beautiful tribute to Randy. Never thought I would hear new solos that perfectly capture Randy's style while adding that Michaelangelo flair. Your love of the source material really comes through. Thanks for making my night with this jam.
This version is really good and I've listened to it countless times. There's another cover of Mr Crowley that's maybe a bit better. It's by Oziel Zinho, I think he's Brazilian.

After watching this video again( I guess for the 600th time now), I have some feelings I'd like to share, especially knowing that Mr. Batio is reading all of these comments:
I've been following you since I was 15.
I still feel shock and awe while watching your videos. Wish you a long, healthy life, full of shredds and even more guitars!
I still keep returning to this song 13 years later whenever I feel down. It brings back all that energy life needs. They say there will never be anyone as Randy again, But the same goes for Michael.
A great guitar player paying homage to a very great and influential guitar player. I love the quad-guitar MAB plays on Nitro's Freight Train music video. Both Rhoads and Batio deserve the respect of the Metal Nation.
bruh that sweep is smoother than butter. You're music is truly an inspiration! And watching you play is such a joy!
Michael is just so incredible. His fantastic performances on the guitar. You won't find anyone better in the world with that kind of technique. You are an inspiration to all guitarists.
I got my first guitar in 1964 and was playing lead in a band just a few years after that to this day I do not have the skill and mastery by any measure. As Mr Batio has said many times, it is all about focus, dedication to the task and practice , practice and more practice. Thank you for the inspiration.
i know you don't need it Michael but some much needed recognition is in order herefor your many achievments and contributions to the music world . Thank you for filling my soul with your beautiful music.
Micheal Thanks for keeping Randy alive through his music. It was a big loss to music Industry but people like you with you massive talent to remind us. RIP Randy
Been listening to this since 2010 and never got enough 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for sticking around! Glad you enjoy the track.
@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial Enjoy it? I love it, so energetic and vital, the arpeggios, the sweeps, it's awesome. I'm a very big fan 🤘
Jeez is it 10 years gone already?! Missed my Tea again.🤔
god damn Michael's tone here is to die for, just like Randy's!
Thank you for the Tribute to Randy. Randy will always be my favorite Guitarist. It’s great to see such a talented artist playing Randy’s music. It brings joy to my soul.
the mr. crowley part gives my chills every time :)
absolutely
+James Edwards which part is that?
+SwedenMetaFan you damn right sir
legitimate goosebumps every single time
Couldn't agree more! And I play Mr. Crowley at my weekly gigs, and it still hits me everytime!
Not even one single fucking note missed!
I could hear this for the rest of my life...
of course not a single note was missed...this was recorded in a studio....
João Matos what about 5:27
Cant think of a more patient Teacher than MAB. Love all your music.
Best Guitar player in the world.
Thanks James!
@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial i am from indonesia... Fans MAB.. 😁
Best shredder
@@MichaelAngeloBatioOfficial best guitaris 😊
Yes he’s awesome, crazy stuff I’ve seen
Crazy Train, Mr Crowley. Above and beyond, just the basic day in the life for Mick Batio, so swift
This is just so mindbogglingly good performance and interpreted. Omg the skill of Michael Batio is insane!! And on top of that such a great person!!!!!!! Michael you rock!!!
Hey Mike , do you remember when we did this for the movie (which never came out as far as i know) you were in front of a bunch of Marshalls and i was on the floor switching the pedals ! Great times. Love you Brother.
I can imagine an enormous smile on Randy Rhoads face.
Mr.Michael Angelo you are the reason that made me play guitar , thank you for all the good music and lessons you gave us , greetings from Kurdistan of Iraq
you sir are definetly one of the best guitar players ever
When Michael Angelo plays solos better than you with his hand over the neck.
And he can do it with both hands on 2 necks at the same time with his arms crossed. I found his album and Vinnie Moore's about the same time and I was listening to it on the way home and decided... Ok just fuck it, I'm going home and burning my guitar. Luckily my house was about an hours ride from the record store and I got over it and was properly inspired by then, still felt like crap though. I'll never be that good, I said, here it is about 30-31 years later and though I got a lot better he still makes me shake my head and say. But how the fuck? lol
Chuchi 98 I can do that too...
*IF I'M MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO*
He may be more technically proficient, there's a certain magic in the way Randy played them originally. He seems to try to capture that but fucks it up. I think he's great, but some things are better left as they are.
:(
i quit
thank you for existing on earth Micheal Angelo, I’m a fan of yours since I started playin guitar in 2005, I stoped but today will continue..
this man is a beast. no wonder he has 2 world records
What are they?
MAB has easily the best Guitar Sound of all the guys out there
The way he sweeped all those tappings my goodness !!. Thats some next level playing. He just inspires me every second. I wish I could take lessons from such a legend like MAB.
This was very tasteful and well done. Amazing speed and left hand synchronization.
Glad you enjoyed Tom!
O guitarrista com a técnica mais perfeita que eu já vi.
Obrigado pelas boas palavras! Você é demais!
People like you are probably the reason for all the person that start to play guitar! Respect!!
The efficiency of his right picking hand is amazing with very minimal movement...just awesome!
what is this guitar model? Perfect !
This is MAB in his absolute prime. The cleanest, fastest and most in the pocket playing that I've seen of his out of any video so far. Rhoads brought out the primal focus in Michael!
Tribute to Randy? More like possessed by his spirit :P Amazing cover!
You're right, he's possessed by Rhandy's spirit.
Fr
With Michael there's no doubt. A real guitar player.
I love everything about Michael, his playing, his personality and of course his hair !!! One of the best out there !
