Maybe depends on where you're from 🤷. For years where I grew up it was common for people to say, you know what I mean, Vern. Or to simply call everybody Vern. Another unrelated but common phrase used was from a commercial saying, make it smoke, Bobby. Anyway, best to ya. Hope you have a happy & safe Christmas & New Year. May God Bless Us All!!! 😇✌️
As a fellow Kentuckian, I grew up on Jim Varney... God gave him a lot of humorous talent... He brought laughter and cheer to so many... bless his memory.
They tore down the house Ernest "lived in" in "Ernest Saves Christmas", about a year ago.The train station is still operating, museum is running, and the one roadway he"s driving his cab on, it's by Disneys Epcot.
My eldest sister & brother in law introduced this to the rest of the family in the mid 80s. Varney definitely had the comedic gift/curse. Good clean humour. May GOD greet him as a faithful friend
I remember the death of the great Jim Varney like it was yesterday. I think because I grew up with E goes to camp, Jail, Saves Christmas, Scared Stupid, etc. and cherished each movie in its own way, his death literally became a memory that I see in exact detail. . .like where I was when Kurt Cobain was killed, or when the 9/11 insanity took place. I pulled over on my way to work as it came over the radio that he had died, and sat on the side of the highway thinking of how much his work had meant to me as a child. It was harmless. Decent. Southern. and therefore get's mocked by those who don't get it, but is adored by those smart enough to enjoy the stupidity of Ernest. We miss you Jim.
I watched Ernest Goes To Jail today with my 7 year old and after it was over he asked if there were any recent Ernest movies. I had to tell him that the guy playing him died 20 years ago and he began to cry...broke my heart. Just shows you the power of just how awesome this character was/is. I’ve been on an Ernest binge all day now.
yeah i watched the halloween movie with my brother and i went to my mom and said i loved the movie then she responded "yeah too bad he passed away" and i experienced the feeling where every ounce of joy in my body vanishes faster than i could blink
28:10-28:19: Aleda Lea Pope (September 14, 1946-February 3, 1985). She would have been 74 years old today. She was featured in a Patsy Cline movie which was her second film. She died before the movie came out. This was her first movie in this. Rest in Peace.
Jim Varney is Incredible. So easily fitting into different characters, and yet seems at home with his performances. Truly, this the sign of an very talented actor. He is missed. I can only imagine what achievements he would've accomplished to the present day. Iconic.
I wasn't born in this age but, As a toddler I grew up on Ernest Goes to Camp, Ernest Scared Stupid, Ernest Goes to Jail, and Ernest Saves Christmas. My whole family loved him and when I was 10, We got another Ernest pack with Ernest in the Army, Ernest Goes to Africa, and Ernest Goes to School. A couple months after, I got a whole season pack of a Ernest tv show called Hey Vern, Its Ernest. I have just recently seen Slam Dunk Ernest and Ernest Rides Again. I love Ernest so much. I have never seen this one but, I love this one too!
Thank you for posting this. I lost my brother to suicide this year and this was his favorite! He could imitate it so good and always had us laughing. Watching this in tears.
I grew up watching Ernest and this was one of my favorites. My family and I quote the Lloyd and Pop skits all the time. "Naw he ain't a good boy! He's dangerous!" I don't think I have ever seen a fishing reel as large as the one on Pop's fishing pole!
It was a deep sea fishing pole, tbh. Oh and btw, sorry about that. I meant to press the Like button and not the dislike. Greasy hand made me push it instead.
His commitment to character is better than Jim Carrey. Totally underrated. They made him screen test for the Jed Clampett role which is an insult. Maybe they forgot this guy did f-ing Shakespeare.
He was trying to do what Bill Murray did with Meatballs with the Ernest movies. However, he had to do slapstick on them. I believe Robert Zemericks wrote the Forest Gump character based on the Ernest character.
Jim Varney was one of my favs growing up and extremely funny, talented, and versatile. Did a great job playing Uncle Jed in the Beverly Hillbillies movie.
I've always loved this one. I used to watch it all the time with my brother when it first came out. Now, this evening, my 23 year old son sends me this link. He and his brothers watched it growing up too. Jim was such an important person in our lives. ❤
Earnest was a childhood staple growing up. I remember living in NC watching the pine state dairy commercials and then he had his own movies. That was always so cool to me growing up
My best friend and I used to watch this video when we were in high school. We laughed our butts off all the time and when we said 'Boogie' only he and I knew what we meant. Had looked for this for a long time. Thank you!
There’s a special moment when BTS footage captured Robin Williams and Jim Varney playing off each other. They were practically on the same page every second
What a comic genius and great impressionist he was! The voices, body language, facial expressions.. he just becomes all those characters and they are all hilarious! So many great quotes! How to pick one? "I've wiped out entire villages of Indian women and children but Luke's done things that make me heave! " " Make 'em YOU heave!? " HA, HA, HA!
My dad, I called him "Daddy-O", was into all this old stuff. He had all the Ernest DVD's he could find and even raised me and my sister on it. It was great, and still is. We lost him on March 13 to lung/liver cancer. He was a great man of God, and I will always love him not only for raising me and my sister on this, but his great personality and content of character.
I have a VHS cape with this on it, but I've misplaced it somehow haha. So I was thinking, man I really wanna watch Ernest's Family Album, and here I am. This guy was a comedy genius. This gave me hours of laughs when I was younger!

Mainly Ernest scared stupid is their favorite. R.I.P Jim Varney , the world got a little bit dimmer when you left it.

When you see Ernest on a ladder, 100% chance he falls off. It's one of Newton's laws.
Oh yeah, that’s ladder is going down………….with him on it😂
I did the calculations, and it turns out you’re wrong; it’s a 300% chance he falls off. I was surprised m’self, but the numbers don’t lie.
Yeah, he even stop the window at first with the window stopper, I like how he's working on it.
