- This is my response to GTA IV is better than GTA V video ( • GTA IV is better than ... ). Watch the original video to understand.
I love both games and both have their strengths and weaknesses.

People dont understand that GTA V was heavily limited by the consoles at the time. the PS3 didn't even have 1gb of ram yet.
Even if GTA IV was also on the same consoles, it had a smaller map and less things to do, since gtav has more cars, a larger map, etc
Now i understand why, so it means that GTA VI will have both things, More Realism, More Cars and a Larger Map.

The way the game dealt with physics and handling was a marvel to me, and GTA V downgrading those aspects in compromise was something that affected me while playing, even if it’s still a fantastic game. And the story, I’d argue GTA V did have a great and compelling story. It just doesn’t help that it sits in between GTA IV and both Red Dead Redemption games, three games full of masterful and unbeaten video game writing. Of course GTA V isn’t gonna seem as fantastic narrative-wise sat in between those storytelling video game behemoths. It’s not realistic that people would expect a movie director to make Taxi Driver or The Godfather every time, and it’s not fair here. It’s the same thing to me with Mafia III, which had nowhere to go but down after Mafia 1 and 2.
@@Gabriel2oh6 YES THANKS YOU, i was so excited to play gta v then when i got to the driving and moving around i was very bummed out, like it seemed to have nailed it maybe tone it down 10-20% but not that 360 turn that they took in gta v, gta iv driving and physics are so special because every turn is unique every accident is unique, i can roam around gta iv for 24h and not be bored but in gta v im bored after 1h mostly because no funny random animation happens

The only bad thing about GTA V is that fast food restaurants and a bunch of huge buildings are not accessible.
As a fan of both games it's not a reason in gta 4 there are restaurant but they are useless I mean who need a restaurant where you can just buy one food for just health ? Gta v cut it up because it's useless and they can't use it for the rpc mechanics because the developers wanted the three characters to be with their same body

I personally believe it'll be a combination and balance of GTA IV's physics and realistic storyline, but also have GTA V's enhanced graphics in 4k - 8k and loaded gameplay elements and customization on the level of V and San Andreas. Have the story take place during the '70s, 80s, and modern-day, add HD Vice City and Colombia (first time GTA does a location outside the U.S.) and possibly brief appearances of Liberty and maybe Los Santos giving us the possibility and taste of the U.S. map being used for the first time, and more accessible interiors and you have an all-time best-seller and literally the perfect GTA game.

@@deleteduser5162 I also mentioned modern-day as well, but I said 70's - 80's because it had less political correctness and it was the height of drug cartels and the drug wars in South Florida, so it would make sense for the story they would tell. They haven't done a GTA game set in the past for a while, so it would be a nice change of pace, and towards the end of the story it should end in modern-day where most modern-day carries on the Online which would please Online fans. We get Vice City in the HD universe that rightfully takes place in the past during Single-player and Online takes place in the future. A win-win for everyone.

3:44 Windshields are made from laminated safety glass in real life. They are not supposed to break apart into little pieces from pinpoint projectiles like in GTA V. Side windows on the other hand are easily breakable to ensure that a trapped driver can escape easily. So, GTA IV actually got it right.
@Chaitnya Singh Do you think GTA IV takes place in ancient times or something? The game is set in the 21st Century incase you didn't know. Laminated safety glass has been the standard for car windshields since the 1930s. As for the windows that "broke" on the Cybertruck... For one, those are side windows, not the windshield. Two, they didn't shatter, they cracked. Three, It's a stupid prototype that doesn't follow vehicle safety standards anyway, so this example is bad, and you should feel bad.
Its also a game, and game is meant to be entertaining, breaking glass in V is extremely satisfying, it looks really great for its time and is definetely better than in IV.

Well, if you want a game with perfect driving physics why don't play a simulator instead, and the pedestrian's AI in GTA has the same function than a breakable post, purely decorative.

I like both .Both are good game .Before releasing of GTA V we loved GTA IV very much but now many of them unlike it. I played and now also playing both .GTA V have more graphics but GTA IV have more physics .Thanks

I dont want to look like I am GTA V fanboy, both games are great, one of the best I've ever played, I just love GTA V more cause it has much more content, you will never get bored of it. I like cause there is wildlife, GTA IV has only urban cities. GTA IV has better story,I agree with other people, but for overall experience, GTA V was better for me cause it has more content and its more fun for me. I understand, R* probably wanted to bring bland and dark city of New York as close as possible to real one, but I still miss wildlife and forests and rivers, GTA SA had. I love how GTA V bringed everything GTA SA had, just even better, cause they added more content. I dont want for anyone to get me wrong, I love every single Rockstar game, and I played them all too, I am just stating my opinion.

Shooting the front windshield in GTA IV is actually more accurate to real life. Front windshields are laminated glass designed to never shatter. Just look at any shooting course designed around vehicles. They'll shoot the windshield up like crazy but it only produces holes.

Sure, if you call bouncing down a street after bailing out of a car "realistic", I suppose GTA 4 had realistic physics. In that case, Saints Row 3 & 4 must be the most realistic games ever, when it comes to physics. :)
GTA 4 had some things that made the world feel a bit more alive, sure, but GTA 5 is more focused on the things that the average player wants to do - which is less of closely looking at how things look when you push them around (and a lot less needy contacts), and a lot more streamlined gameplay. Less focusing on minute details, and more big strokes - like actually having a whole undersea environment.

v gta seems that cars do not have buffer. gta iv can be a bit exaggerated, but it is even more realistic when you make turns or crashes the car into a wall.

To be honest both games have their positives and downsides. Gta IV removed a lot of iconic stuff from previous gta games. and gta 5 while it has a bigger map it doesn't really utilize it to an extent making it seem a lot smaller and emptier than it actually is.

Second, you can't judge a game is better than another game by 1 missing detail , while GTA V doesn't have restaurants or internet café , where are barber shops & tattoo parlors & other stuff like quads & submarine & underwater in GTA 4? Third and finally rockstar could've easily add restaurants and internet café but GTA v doesn't need them , I mean what's the point from healing from restaurants ? What about medical aids ? What's the point from internet café if you can check internet with your phone or PC at your house ? Realism ? players mostly don't care about it so what's the point from adding stuff that can make the game run slower on ps3 if nobody really care?
GTA V is prettier, bigger, and to an extent allows more freedom. GTA IV has better crash physics, WAY more interiors, a way better story, better mods, way way way better shooting, more activities (police vigilante, better friend dates + dates, bowling, pool, arcade, internet cafe, you name it), has better multiplayer, CROUCHING, and a whole lot of other things. GTA V and GTA IV are both amazing games, but overall GTA IV is way better. You just have to remember GTA IV being better doesn't make GTA V bad.
Oh and don't even get me started on parkour. I spent an hour when I first got GTA V trying to understand why Franklin kept jumping into the wall instead of climbing it

again some of this is opinion as well. GTA IV campaign was shit to me, half the game spend doing errands and wasn't as fun as GTA 5 imo. "better shooting" - opinion "better mods" not really lol, most of the biggest gta IV mods have been remade for gta 5. and the dates etc. most people dont give a shit about, even though an extra activity can't be complained about i guess. and GTA 5's multiplayer is also better imo, but yes, having customizable lobbies would make it 100x better
but in MY opinion, GTA 5 is far better for the most part, with some smaller details that gta 4 has that gta 5 should have.

They are realistic. The rocket is still a heavy chunk of metal that drops and reacts to wind. Maybe it's not 100% realistic but not that unrealistic as GTA5

3:40 - GTA V is doing it the wrong way and IV the right.. The windshields of cars have a plastic film inside of them which prevent them from shattering the way they do in the GTA V example. They would act like they do in the GTA IV example.
dude that's so different the plastic film just makes the glass shards smaller so you can't be cut as easily your thinking of bullet resistant Windows
corps 21 I am not thinking of a bullet resistant window. The plastic film holds the shards together, but the bullet passes straight through. This is to increase the strength of the glass and also to prevent people from being shovered in glass if something happens.
The side windows of a car would act that way, not the windshield - because they have no plastic film.
I've actually been in a car crash myself. Nothing too horrible, the car got off the road and flipped. Front window was completely cracked and mashed, but it hadn't shattered (like a side window) because of the film.

You're missing the point. It's just showing how meaningless the "GTA IV is better than GTA V" video was because it touched on irrelevant things.
GTA IV doesn't have better physics than GTA V, nor the other way around. They run on pretty much the same engine, they simply have different design choices. GTA V is more responsive, tactile but a more unrealistic. GTA IV is more heavy and requires more input but it resembles something more realistic. But it should be noted that neither GTA IV is still not realistic, it's far from a simulator. They both have different design choices and what both of these videos are doing is showing different design choices as being superior.
That being said I still think GTA V is better, it's still a technical improvement and it offers more to do. But both games have their merits but these videos are pretty pointless because they touch on extremely trivial stuff (like "omg i can't attach a trailer in gta iv" "omg i can't do police missions in gta v")

"Irrelevant things" no when I played GTAV it was very noticeable how much worse the combat was compared with IV and how the cars felt like they had no weight to them, the car damage physics was much worse, although I think I prefer the way cars handle in V but to say these core gameplay mechanics are irrelevant is ridiculous. Mega You're confusing graphics with details, while the two go hand in hand, they aren't necessarily the same thing. For example, you can have really low quality grass than moves when it's touched in an old game, but that doesn't mean that the game has nice "graphics", it just means it has a lot of attention to details. This attention to detail makes the game more immersive.
Grass is a graphical feature. I'm not confusing anything, you're the one misunderstanding things here. Graphical details ARE graphics. In this case, the grass is part of the game's graphics, therefore you're not making any point at all.
Mega Again, read the example I gave in my comment above. You can have a game with very low resolution grass and still have that grass move. From a graphical standpoint, the game wouldn't be very amazing since the grass itself is very low res (and perhaps just a sprite), it would however be very detailed. There's a difference between the two. It's the same with trees blowing in the wind, or with propeller blades from helicopters moving the vegetation around. This has more to do with interaction than anything else.
I played both games and I liked gta v more. I Get that gta iv has better physics etc. But gta v has more to do. It removed a few things but those few things didnt really matter. The driving in gta iv feels "realistic" but it isnt really fun. Personally I prefer gameplay over realism. Gta iv was fun but it wasnt as fun as gta v for me

I agree but what I love one small thing in GTA 4 that is not present in 5 is picking up random objects on the ground that you can throw at anyone. That feature is what I truly miss. Beside everything about 4 is super boring. I didn't finish the whole mission in GTA 4 but I also didn't finish the whole mission in 5. They were both equally boring and tideous. Only older title GTAs I was able to finish the whole mission. Saints row series appeal to me more and I finish all the major quests.

And any "GTA IV is Better than GTA V" video should be renamed to "GTA IV vs GTA V Physics Comparison". GTA community is turning into CS:GO community (Even worse, as the community is casual and consequently made of stupid cunts who has no idea about game balance or design.) for no reason nowadays. Stop shit-talking when the company actually improved their game by alot. Because it is the popular and seemingly rebel opinion to say that an older game is better than a newer game, everyone is agreeing on it without questioning it once. GTA IV has more realistic phyics in SOME cases, and that's all. Fuck anyone who seriously thinks GTA IV was a better game than GTA V, go play ARMA if you actually care about realism that much, which is a game that I really like. But if you say GTA IV is better than GTA V because it has better physics even though it reduces performance and damages some aspects of gameplay, you are nothing but another sheep in the queue crying about every single topic you can, because some biased videos on TH-cam told you so.
I DO understand that GTA 5 had some seemingly unnecessary downgrades in some point, but most of the time you won't even notice them unless you specially look for them, and as players, we can never know if there was a reason why they removed them. And because GTA 5 doesn't have one or two features that GTA 4 had, that doesn't make it worse than GTA 4. Hell, if you asked me to pick between the whole GTA 4 game and GTA 5 Online Heists only, I'd pick GTA 5 Heists.
Also, just fuck off if you're going to say "GTA 5 would be dead without GTA Online". First, that's just a way of saying "Even though I blame it all day, I actually can't stop playing GTA 5 but it's because of it's amazing multiplayer", and you would never know if people would actually stop playing it without multiplayer, because not everyone in the world thinks the same way you do. Also, MULTIPLAYER IS A PART OF THE FUCKING GAME, how dumb have you got to be to be unable to understand that? It's like saying "Nobody would enjoy GTA 4 if there were no weapons". gta iv also just got like 5 patches i think and they had to limit the content cause the xbox disc couldnt hold more then 8,7 gigs on the disk rockstar wanted xbox to have the same experience as the ps3 and by making it smaller it improved the framerate on the 360

yeah. Niko was a trained fighter. It would have been cool if the mc's of gtav had some type of combat skills as well.
GTA IV had great fighting, but left a lot to be desired with driving, GTA V had great driving, but left a lot to be desired with fighting, meanwhile Red Dead Redemption left little more wanting.

An improvement from gta 4 to GTA 5 is the reload animations because in gta iv the reload animation for the m4, ak47, and the sweeper shotgun is that they only pull the bolt and do nothing else

Very good response! I think the guy that made the other video really showed things that gta V doesn't have and even things that are superior in gta IV
But his mistake was naming the title of the video "GTA IV is better than GTA V"

Crowbcat video was heavily biased, which resulted in evening it out with this one. Truth it both games have their own strengths and weaknesses.
CrowBCat is a toxic asshole, I wouldn't go near his channel with a 10-foot pole
A few other small details:
1. Running and jumping into a wall or failing to hit the jump button fast enough when jumping over an obstacle will make your character fall down in V. In IV your character continues to run into the wall like nothing even happened.
2. When pulling out a gun on an NPC in a car, they will either back away and leave their vehicles, try to drive over you or sometimes they will get out of their cars and start shooting you (the criminal NPCs) In IV, they all do one thing, get out of the car instantly.
3. Locking onto NPCs in melee combat and raising your fists at them will provoke them to either fight or run. In IV, nobody will care if you raise your fists at them and provoke them to fight, not even the cops.
4. Shooting at gas canisters scattered throughout the game world in V actually makes gas come out of them (both V and IV have the same model gas canisters), and you can also ignite them.
5. NPCs in V now react to the world around them a lot more. If you crash your car (of iif other NPCs crash theirs), do a burnout or fall from a great height, they will pull out their phones and snap a picture/film it. They will also notice the player or even other NPCs driving customized or high end sports cars and they will comment on them.
6. You can initialize small conversations with NPCs in V, and these vary between all three main characters.
7. Car impacts can dislodge wheels in V, and when a car explodes, the wreckages flying off them are on fire.
8. The buildings in V are significantly easier to scale than the ones in IV since most of them have ladders or alternate ways of getting on top of them. In IV, there are a few buildings with interiors that allow you to get to the top, but there are significantly less building overall that you can get on top of without a helicopter.
9. Police will react to bullets whizzing by them but not hitting them through specific animations. Explosions going of next to them but not hurting them will also stun them for a second and make them play a disoriented animation.
10. Instigating a fight with a lone, unarmed gang member and then pulling out your weapon will make him/her run away. If, however, there are more gang members around, he/she will still fight you while the others also attack you. In IV, lone gang members were not afraid to fight you even if you did draw a weapon.
11. In V, cars would slow down significantly when hitting more than one
pedestrian, and an impact at a lower speed had a chance of sucking the
pedestrian underneath the car. In IV, cars barely slow down when hitting pedestrians, and they will always fly away when hit since they had a very unrealistically light weight. In fact, the entire reason why the ragdolls were apparently "downgraded" in V was due to the fact that all characters (as well as vehicles) had more weight added to them to appear more realistic.

I agree with everything you said but the last one. Peds do not have more weight to them in comparison to IV. In some cases, a head shot with a shotgun will make someone do a back flip. And so will a punch to the face, which can send them flying across the street. The peds in V flail a lot more than they do in IV. If anything, It's LESS weight than before.

I just fired up V to test this, but this doesn't seem to be true. A pointblank shotgun blast, while being able to make an NPC do a partial backflip, doesn't actually push said NPC back a lot. Same with punches, unless you're actively running towards the NPC, your punches will just make them drop down flat on the ground. If you're running, your punches will make them slide on the ground a little, but it won't send them flying.
Watch the video posted by CrowbCat, the most telling examples are when a grenade explodes next to the character and the one in V is barely pushed back, and the one where the character bails from the car, with Niko bouncing a foot into the air when touching the ground for the first time and Franklin just being dragged along the road.
Watch out, GTA V fans are coming. Most are 8 year olds.

The cars drive like complete shit wtf, no customization for cars or weapons, you get 3 characters in v to appeal to everybody, you really make big money in GTA v and you can do heists, far more vehicles, yachts, apartments etc. My question is how TF do you think GTA iv is better😂😂😂😂
