  • After having a hard day on Hydro, Elliot came back on day two for some redemption. We went back to Beowolf which we had tried to do earlier in the season but the pools were not filled in yet and I had a fun time swimming to recover my tool. All in all great day.

It's Beowulf, like the rambling old English poem.

Love the vids dude, finally catching up on the latest two. When you're out doing foolishness, avoid recovering another vehicle in reverse at all costs. The gears are cut to provide nearly all the strength in one direction, relying on reverse for force is a quick way to find out how much a regear costs (it's about 4-6 grand). I have connections in Calgary for ya though if it happens!

I just climbed this last week and led the money pitches linking 1st and 2nd then the 5th up to the chains past where foster belayed and the last pitch same line you took. Was so much fun except I though I was gonna go in like you last time since the entire climb was an actual waterfall with 40°F temps

Holy crap that shock load on the tow strap getting yanked!!
Also, deer don't like loud noises, so honk at them when they're on the road and it'll condition them to avoid cars and roads.

Hey if you couldn't reach one of the bolted anchors (buried under ice or whatnot), could you do a V thread on the horizontal ice at the top of a pitch? Would that be extra heinous friction to pull the rope afterwards?

That could have totally worked and would have probably been easier to pull
