- In this homily given on Corpus Christi (Sunday, June 2, 2024), Fr Mathias outlines what it means to receive Jesus worthily and reverently. Intentionally not going into too much detail, Father offers an overview of the Church's teaching that Holy Communion is only for professed Catholics who are in a state of grace. He also reviews what it means to receive Holy Communion with great reverence, both in the heart and how we express that reverence in the postures at Mass.

I have watched the eucharist fall to the floor on multiple occasions in these past months at a NY cathedral....in fact...this AM at this same cathedral..the host fell to the floor and the priest picked it up and put it in his mouth. Also 1 person (not in a state to receive...)...presented to receive a blessing and received the blessing from the EUCHARISTIC MINISTER.
I would never ever take Holy Communion from a so called 'Eucharistic minister'. It's a sham from the devil.
They need patens! We need to pray for more priests. Adoration is essential to this

“‘Reverence’ is a buzzword in some Catholic circles. . . . it’s almost as if people are trying to out-reverence each other when it comes to the Mass . . . and they’re looking down on people who don’t have as much reverence as they do. . . . There are people who are so attentive to receiving Jesus with reverence, that they overcompensate and focus on the externals more than the interior reverence of the heart. They’re so focused on what they’re doing physically and how they comport themselves that they miss the whole point, and that is being reverent and being attentive to the living God who comes to them. We need to remember that as Christians, reverence is primarily a matter of the heart.”
My friend wa s practice catholic. Now she gives herself communion. I don't know what to say to her.
If crumbs on hand fall to ground then we walk on Jesus how is showing reverence to the living God
Yes. No communion in the hand!
@@crsw7041 I've seen the host fall to the ground more from receiving on the tongue than the hand. I go every day.
