I'll say what I always say: its all of their albums put together. So many hints and fusions from felt mountain, black cherry, super nature. A wonderful combination of romanticism, folk and electric seduction.
The great thing about Goldfrapp to me is that I no longer have to question their lyrics. It doesn't have to mean anything to me and I'll accept it just the same. That makes a true artist in my eyes.

I just watched Jack goes boating, a very good movie, and absolutely loved this song! The colours in the video are exactly the colours I see in my head when listening to this.

@BigJohnWoody they are underrated, in turns of chart performance and generally to me their make some of the cleverest music ever, everything is so subtle, the music is always so powerful and visual, no matter what styles they choose,and I really think Head First is Goldfrapp's most underrated album (not best, most underrated)as always its so visulal,clever subtle and really relates to the artwork and general themes, structurally headfirst is very unusual but you don't notice its that creative

Goldfrapp is of my top favorite artists! She eminates beauty and art....something lacking in our current music industry. Music is no longer music...it's just 'sound.' (main-stream) And wtf is happening to Europe? They're top 10 consist of American pop and R&B stars like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake? Sad sad sad!
Ah well, the 'seated on that land' line is absent from the booklet lyrics. As is the reference to the 'blade is deep'. In the first stanza, I hear: If you don't eat yourself no doubt the pain instead you could love your life seated on that land ...and in second stanza I hear: If you don't eat yourself no doubt the blade is deep ...but it may be 'pain is deep'
I think the saddest thing about this album is it sounds deep, but it is all surface, which is crueler than Trent Reznor ever could be. If you read the lyrics she is remarking on her OWN LACK of depth on Clowns and perhaps EMPATHY. "Only clowns would play with those balloons. What do you want to look like Barbie for?" set to a 60's psychedelic guitar and vocals with heavy reverse reverb. Here she coos to a loved one to eat themselves over a lost love. But, there is something about her cast as a harlequin in a tree with an OWL that shows she could care less. In happiness she tells a bouncing fool "give us all your money and you fill find harmony and peace of mind"-perhaps she works for scientology. Utopia, Supernatural, & this. COLD and CRUEL INDEED. A professional stripper. Before you get carried away with production values. WHICH ARE AMAZING. Really sit down and thumb through the lyrics. She might be a psychotic with a GREAT VOICE.

@oliban78 Goldfrapp plays around with a lot of different kinds of music, its difficult to pigeon hole their style into one genre. This particular song sounds like folk music to me tough.
