Camping used to be an enjoyable hobby, nowadays everyone assumes you are homeless and treats you like dirt
Depends on where though
I feel like some of how people treat someone else is a jealousy thing. Like with anything, someone sees you doing something amazing and realizes for whatever reason that they cant do it. It’s what I have noticed anyway.
Yor so right
depends on what your rig looks like, a Mercedes benz NOPE, or a newer looking rig.............will not be noticed out of place!
My bad bro I actually am homeless and camp on the side…lol
Listening to your philosophy of the road life is so energizing. Thanks
Great video and great channel Kevin. Just subscribed! Thanks for sharing. 😁
Great info, as always, Kevin. The ocean!!! Very jealous of your time. I hope you get to stay there for a while. The sunsets. Awesome.
Another banger Kevin! Keep em coming buddy!
Have you budgeted for health care? If you had health care benefits at work, that's great, but when not working you need to get Blue Cross or something. Also check if health care benefits are different in BC than AB. If you go south to the US, make sure you get medical insurance, so research that too, because in the US you'll pay ALL medical expenses you incur, and it can add up really quick and really $$$$$. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Your videos very awesome and realistic. Your personality is great. Thank you for being you.
Living in Canada is much more expensive.
You should come back to the coast. No 40 below you can get a job use less fuel and snowboard to your heart's content at a number of places.
Very practical information. Good job.
Wow! That's expensive.
Tyvm for these videos. I am now subscribed after finding your channel. This is exactly what I am looking to do in a couple of years after I retire. I reside in Ontario and want to travel across Canada from coast to coast to coast. I really want to see the Yukon and Alaska as well, in the same sort of get up that you have. I'm sure that these videos will help me plan out on how to approach this journey. I know which truck I will purchase already as i work for the Ford motor Co. and I will get a nice discount on an F350 dually with a diesel motor. Look forward to more videos from you and again....Thank you very much for this content !!
That’s great! I’m excited for you!
You know.... Have you ever heard you resemble Jimmy Aka Mr.Beast. You two have similar mannerisms. Anyways! Great Video!
Bahahaha, I had people at my work say I look like him a lot 😂
You do realize that there is a world class ski resort up hill from Courteney. You could do ski to sea every day if you like.
I knoooooow and I’ve struggled with that but I’m hoping to hit a lot more resorts this year aswell. Mount Washington also has the best price season pass I’ve seen. Still all up in the air 😂
Where are you in the Pacific Ocean
$2300 is crazy high! That must be a Canadian thing. I’ve been van living (Ram Promaster) for 6 months (home base in Wisconsin) and I’m spending approx $950 a month. And, that’s for me and my sixty-pound dog who eats raw (steaks, chicken, fish etc..)
Safe travels
That sounds about right, when I was budgeting fuel I noticed it would be way cheaper in the US to travel.
Full timing in Canada is definitely much more expensive than in the states. You planning on coming to the states?
I would like to! I’m hoping things work out for it next year!
Thank you for explaining the cost of living in your camper. I think because it’s a video it seemed like it didn’t cost anything but in reality it does. So this has been very informative. Take care
Running that same 25 year old Atwood hydro-flame, it is an absolute unstoppable beast
Right!!!!
@@KevinWaldsAdventures I just retired and I'm new to the camper life, your channel has been very helpful and informative, I appreciate it.
Great information for anyone considering this. Beautiful country too. I'm in Washington State, so yes, gorgeous, just like Canada. Been many times. Thank you for your great content. ❤❤❤
I can’t wait to visit!!
If you’re coming through Lethbridge-medicine hat area on your way to Sask you can park at my acreage for the night if needed!
Thank you I’ll keep that in mind I appreciate that!!!
Hello why don’t you work during the week and have a camping video for the weekend this way you can save money up to travel all summer long if you put lot’s of cantent out there people like that I will share your videos on my Facebook page publicly if that’s okay I travelled in a van for almost one year from Ontario Canada to Vancouver Island I lived in Toronto back in the day 40 years ago it was amazing I had $10,000 dollars to travel with I think gas was about.49 cents per gallon bank thanand food was so much cheaper here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
I actually did just that before this summer! I worked all winter during the week and was putting out weekend videos, then I quit my job and left my home town to travel around for the summer! Just all coming to an end and need to start thinking about the next job!
Great info! N I just love your positivity and the way you are just loving it! Keep it up, your light is inspiring.❤
Where do you stow your snowboards during travel? I've looked at the Host campers because they have that large pullout basement, but the cost and weight is kinda insane.
I have a basement storage on mine, northern lite and Bigfoot both have them just make sure you measure your board to make sure bindings will clear, some basements have a very narrow opening
@@KevinWaldsAdventures ok awesome. I was planning to go to an RV show and have a look cause there are so many models. I didn't know these had a basement. Appreciate it!
How the heck did u find a place to park for 3 days on the island, without it being a campground, and being surrounded by squatters or no overnite staying signs? 😳🍻
Get past Campbell river, feels empty up here! It’s amazing after dealing with no where to camp around Squamish 😂 🍻
@@KevinWaldsAdventures ooooh!! Lol brilliant! 🍻
I am living in a Toyota Sienna hybrid, 400W of solar, 200Ah battery. If I don't run the van's AC/heat, I can run a small portable heater off the batteries. Fuel cost is minimal vs. foods. Phone plan with Visible at $35/month, $32 if you pay a whole year up front. Existing on $500/month, comfortable stationary $1000/month, travel extensively $1500/month. Cross the border to Mexico and the expenses drop significantly, I've lived on $600/month and do not feel deprived.
How do you live in a car in Mexico? I’m in San Diego
Only problem with Mexico is that he would get robbed the first week if not the first night for his truck by the cartel. They actively seek out trucks like his for drug running.
Fuel is by far the biggest expense
Would like to see you snow bird into the USA like “RV and Boat” channel. Get out of the snow and cold. Ray has some excellent advise.
I live hanging by the ocean. N-- Creek on the island is on of my favourite getaway places.
Is this all Canadian dollars?
Yes
You need to start memberships
Thanks Kevin for the info. I guess it’s too expensive for some, pension or disability cheques are slim pickins Cheers❤
I like your camper, I am thinking of buying (used) or building one. I see a lot of the mass produced campers and trailers with the walls blown in from high wind areas, sometimes with holes in them. Maybe the fiberglass ones are less prone to this?
Also forgot to say nice haircut!
Haha thank you
@@KevinWaldsAdventures yes! Sorry, Nice haircut. Didn’t think you were that sensitive.
I am looking at a Freelance style lifestyle, I currently own a 2005 Ford F350 Diesel, but looking at a small travel camper, I will be traveling all over the US and Canada, I don't know if I am going to keep using the Diesel or trade it/buy a smaller truck like a Colorado, this way I can park to Camper and use the smaller truck to boot around in. I am in my homework stage, lots to consider, thanks for the great video, gives me a lot of considerations!
Looks like a camper Jonathan Yench went up there to Canada to go get.
Great video, keeping it real and honest, new subscriber 😃
Excellent video Kevin. I’m like you. I prefer to over budget and under spend. Love your channel:)
Hello Kevin,
Another GREAT informative video with spectacular scenery. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
I wish There was a way a guy could live in the Canadian winter in his camper as house heating water electric are very high and take those costs could handle the camper!
Love your videos and your camper. You always teach me something and appreciate your skills. Admire how you spend your days.
You do need to take care of yourself first before you entertain us I would feel badly if you suffered harm in any manner trying to entertain us
Great video of your expenses broken down, gives people a great idea of how much it can cost to live simply. Life sure isn't free! Love your videos! ❤
Tive a thought to doing One or two videos per month of cooking ideas.
Great video. Thanks for the information.
I bet it isn't cheap by any means.
Great video thanks for the info so to sum it all up roughly 1800 dollars sitting still in one town and 2500 traveling around the province have fun and keep rolling
Thank bide for everything being more expensive.
Hiya Kevin,
Wow 😮 I thought that was a lake at first , then you said it was the ocean, stunning mate.
So apart from Harry potter and snowboarding, hiking. What else do you like ???
I make things from wool am interested in what I can make you as a gift 🎁🎁🎁.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care ❤ X X X
cozy days cold weather camping, lately that's been o my mind lol
Yup we got out 5 spots in red deer that we rotate every week, your right it's easier that way
Awesome! 👍😎🇨🇦🌊❄
Thanks!
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!
@@KevinWaldsAdventures My pleasure! I am in the process of working a freelance job and looking at my options, I will be working all over Canada and the US, I have a 2005 Ford F350 6.0 Powerstroke, I considering the Truck Camper or pull behind camper, or downsizing the Truck to get a smaller one with a Tow Behind...decisions decisions! but thanks for doing a deep dive, it helping me in my decision process! - Jeff, Edmonton!
excellent content. I appreciate the openness and honesty.
Winter camping videos are my favorite things to watch
A little omething for the tip jar brother ... 👊🏻 Not much but it's something 😹
Thank you so much I appreciate it!!!
Kevin, I’m sure you have a ton followers in the states. Would like it if you take a second to convert metric to US for us dummies!
Just google it. BTW -40 is -40 in both C & F. You can also get a rough conversion (C x 2 )+ 32= F (20°C × 2) + 32 = 62°F
If you want exact formula: (20°C × 9/5) + 32 = 68°F :)
Your total doesn't sound bad at all, especially considering how much driving you're doing. In my budget I currently have $3k USD just in fixed expenses for rent and bills, truck loan, etc. That doesn't include fuel for driving around town and food and incidentals. Being able to live on $2500 CAD (~$1800 USD) sounds like a dream still, even if it's more expensive than it used to be! I have a full time IT job currently but if that ever goes south I like the idea of working winters and traveling around in the summer.
I think next summer I would try working from may to September, enjoy the off season with less people running around! This years been great too though!
Maybe you already looked into it but when you head back over from the island check into faresaver ferry trips.
We just came back from port McNeil fishing, and truck camper and boat is way cheaper on some sailings.
I’ll definitely check into that! Thank you!!!
Love it nice rig
Just out of curiosity. Would you buy a new truck or a used one? I ask because I can't decide yet but I would like to know your opinion.
I always buy used, can save a lot of money getting something with 50000km on it and it will be hassle free for a bit yet, when you get into higher miled vehicles that’s fine too but budget in bigger repairs the 5.9 Cummins is a rock solid motor but I can guarantee after 500000km it is going to want something lol best to pay cash for anything over 250000km and then just budget for repairs. I do most of my own work so I’ve never seen a point in buying new for a warranty that never gets used. Rather save 15000$ on the sticker
theres two ski hills on the island. you can stay up at both of them. mt Washington and Mt Cain.
I didn’t know about mt Cain, I always wanted to try out mt Washington
I would love to live in one unfortunately I can't afford to get one. So I'm going to have to get a travel trailer for my SUV that has a decent tow package but I would much rather have one of those
When I had my jeep many years ago I thought about doing a old boler trailer and putting a wood stove in it and working the ski season out in fernie living in it, thinking about it just makes me feel warm and cozy 😂 😊
Winter is my fav❤
Later.
Thank you for sharing. Great information for those looking to start this life.
@@blairM363 thank you I really appreciate that!!! I’ll keep putting out as much info as I can!
Good info
if you are ever near fernie/cranbrook, i have an acre you can park at. also, 46 a month for prime??
lol so I actually have prime and then the prime channels, I do actually split that with my parents but they pay half yearly so I just put the whole bill in cause it comes out every month
Thank you by the way I appreciate that!
👍
Question, why wet propane heat vs diesel heater dry heat?
common misconception, a propane furnace works exactly the same as a diesel heater but has a more powerful blower. A Buddy heater or wave 3 provide a wet heat because they don't exhaust outside. A Rv furnace exhausts outside just like a diesel heater, both those systems are a forced air heating that basically pushes air over a heat exchanger then out into a area.
@@KevinWaldsAdventures Wow 🤯 I had no idea. Thank you so much for providing that information! I thought all propane heat was wet heat. Good to know it’s not true for camper furnaces. I just bought a 2019 lance 650 that comes with a furnace. I also bought a diesel heater thinking I would need to install it. Thank you so much for saving me from all that work!
❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
Thank you so much I really appreciate it!!!
@@KevinWaldsAdventures yeah man I dig your videos. I actually have the same truck, crew cab though and a camper I have been working on. Shooting to do the same as you soon.
@@adventuretravelproject that’s awesome man!!
Well hello again beautiful eyes 👀 Kevin I still would love camping 🏕️ in a van anyway it' nice to know how much it costs amazing video
