There are remnants of the Tower, Minnesota streetcar track (active 1892-1896) that can still be found - but they're just old rail road beds going through the swamp at this point.
Love finding these old remnants still out there. A few more I have found: The remains of Duluth streetcar 251 parked outside a warehouse on Airpark Blvd. in Duluth. The scars from the streetcar rails are visible on the abandoned portion of Lamborn Ave. at Main St on Connors Point in Superior, WI. The general offices of the Duluth St Ry still exist on W Superior St & 27th Ave. An overhead wire pole exists in St. Paul on Rice St & Lawson Ave. There are 4 manhole covers along Central Ave in Minneapolis market for the street railway company (Central & 12th Ave NE, 12th Ave NE & Van Buren St NE, Central & Spring St NE, and just north of Central & 3rd Ave. NE). An interpretive display in front of the depot in Breckenridge has a piece of a switch from the street railway that ran there. Also, can’t forget about the steamboat Minnehaha at Lake Minnetonka.
It would be a real tourist attraction to run streetcars again in Duluth. Thanks for the good slideshow.
