When even Joseph Alessi isn’t the soloist you know you’re going to hear something absolutely beautiful.
This.... I didn't even realize that was him in there!!
Damn, this is what it sounds like when you get to a level where the mechanics of your instrument have zero negative influence on your ability to make incredible music and nothing holds back what you have to offer musically. Such an incredible musician.
The flexibility of being able to go above the staff, drop to a pedal tone for a split second and go back up is rather impressive
True, but to me it still feels a bit disconnected. Not that I could do anything like it.
4:52 must've been one of the hardest things to pull off. It's absolutely unbelievable how everyone can play separate notes in time together.
i knowww it actually sounds so unreal how good it is
I thought it was a synthesizer
This is ridiculous, one of the greatest musicians on the planet with an extraordinary ensemble!
that trombone playing is mind bendingly bonkers, man
It feels impossible to play this on trombone. Magnificent!
Mr Gilkes has an unbelievable command of the trombone, flexibility, range and fantastic beautiful tone.He is probably the most incredible trombone player I have ever heard
This is unreal. The sort of brass playing that, by all logic, should be pretty much impossible. The functional equivalent of a quad axel or a 3.5 minute mile. And it's *beautiful.* Phenomenal work.
That’s what happens when you gather the best into one place.
Nothing is impossible.
Listen to Bill Watrous! Manhattan Wildlife Refuge
This is the piece that always gives me the most shivers. Makes me feel so much at once I can't describe it
Brass playing from outer space. Unreal and so beautiful. I am in awe!
Gilkes is straight up insane!
OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not a brass player, i’ve never heard this and know nothing about this piece, but THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! You’re all so in sink and the musicality is on point!! Thank you, i needed this random video to pop up!
Such a rich sound
The opening melody is lovely🧡
I have never clapped after a music video until today. That was simply incredible
I don't know how I just came across this. Absolutely phenomenal! I think he just did the largest interval in trombone repertoire history!
Wow. Just wow. Sky high difficulty level for the trombone. But the piece didn't sound like it was written just for the sake of difficulty to show virtuosity. Instead, the piece came together very musically in an exciting way. Great music and performance.
Absolutely outrageous! Wonderful playing all around! And wonderful composition, Mr. Gilkes.
Heavy, heavy, heavy...Brilliance once again Mr.Gilkes. The finest brass on the planet! 😎
WOW,, awesome ensemble,, everything perfect.
Marshall Gilkes is the best sounding most skilled tenor trombonist on the planet! Sorry Joe Alessi, it’s true!
Insanely perfect. The best trombone solo ever heard.
This is insane!!! Bravo!! Absolutely beautiful and masterful
The best I've ever heard from Gilkes. composition and performance. Beautiful!
0:32 dont know why but i get heavy legend of zelda vides from this harmony
Beautiful playing guys😎
SOOOOO GOOOD! I wanna cryyy :''')
Absolutely insane. I want to play like this 😅

金管楽器の音色がなんとも美しいです。
The sound of brass instruments is so beautiful
It's honestly performances like these that make me wonder I ever even decided to play the trombone LOL

Bravo, it's beautiful
This shit is absolutely unreal. I can’t believe those range jumps are humanly possible. And not to seemingly miss even one note. I can’t believe it. Wow.
awesome Marshall
Incredible, Marshall

Just the undisputed GOAT.
Loved every part as s trombonist. Especially the bell tones part at 4:53

Holy crap. That's all.
1:38 An almost four octave jump, ladies and gentlemen
What in the world was that? Wow! My trombone refuses to do that. I’ve tried.
The man is a freak!
Waaaaooooo😮😮
They should call themselves one to many banjos, with good good they are.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Top demais
I'd call myself pro level and he makes me feel like I'm in beginning band.
Очень круто 👍
I'm a bass trombonist and bassist but this is totally out of my comprehension!!! Totally sublime!!! XXXXX
6:19-6:23. 😳😳😳😳😳
watching his face do the changes at 7:03 is hilarious

What's Your Instrument Setup on this beautiful recording?
Se parar e analisar bem ele respira no vídeo e o som continua , ele toca muito mais o vídeo é editado gravou o som e depois fez o vídeo em cima , mas ta muito top a sonoridade , belo trabalho de edição 👏🏾👏🏾
must be one of the best Trombonist of all time. notice also that it is a classic trombone and not one of the cheating one that has the extra tubing and valves.
Some would argue that playing hard repertoire on a small bore is cheating because it’s easier for flexibility and high notes instead of using a large bore that is harder to control for this kind of extreme stuff lol
Trombones are just fretless baritones.
Baritones are just trombones with frets
Not really - the timbre of each instrument is quite unique

🤣 ridiculous
I wish the video wasn't so edited. It's jarring to see him taking breaths while hearing notes continue in legato. In the middle section, it's crystal clear we're watching what we're hearing, but that first couple minutes makes it look like this video is all trickery and falsehoods.
Crazy good sound!
The video is not edited, I brought the album , I think he has the technique of circular breathing which allows for what you hear . Mr Marshall has Great technique
@@BlackSpock135 So? The video is clearly edited and he didn't breathe in exactly the same places as the recording.
Wow! Back in the day, as a bass trombonist, I thought I had a great degree of flexibility as I could pop out a pedal D and jump to a G above the staff. This guy's flexibility and speed in doing so is so phenomenal! Super cool and his musicality is impeccable. The group is pretty extraordinary as well! Thanks for the video!
Wow.....He really is an actual trombone virtuoso. Just finished the video and that's 100% the BEST trombone playing I've ever heard.
Same here, and I've heard a lot of trombone.
Fantastic tone and intonation in all the musicians . The lyrical melodies are my favorite parts of the piece
Absolutely amazing!! AWESOME group, composition and performance!
Esto es una locura!! que gran interpretación y dominio de la técnica del trombón! Agradezco vivir durante este momento, para ser capaz de apreciar este tipo de interpretaciones.
Marshall you're a amazing trombonist, thanks for this master piece... Bravo 👏👏👏
That is the sweetest piece of trombone playing I’ve ever heard. Beautiful.
Totally amazing. He's from another planet, surely? What it must be to be able to do that...........! Bravo Sir!
“The Larry Bird of Trombonists💃🏼☝️😁
6:03 gives me goosebumps every single time, jesus christ man the natural slurs employed to optimize the ease of partial jumps. He’s a genius of our instrument!
Bom dia, muito show!
É de tirar o fôlego.👍👍👍
Impresionante.
Thank you, Mr. Gilkes.
Im here from Insta thsi is amazing
Well, I’ve heard trombonists play very fast, high, musical and with crazy flexibility but this is on a whole other level, several levels to exact. Just, wow…. I wonder if I bought his signature horn I could have any hope of sounding anything close to this lol. This is modern trombone playing at its finest.
Красотища какая! Просто космос! 👍👍👍
The balls to put Joe Alessi on ensemble trombone 😂
pura buena musica !!!!!
