This song is amazing- yet it’s completely overshadowed by how good the rest of Fear Inoculum is...A truly incredible album👏🏻👏🏻

This is a VERY underrated song!
True only recently came to appreciate it and I consider myself a massive Tool head
Understatement
The reason why this is such an underrated song is due to the impatience of most people listening to music nowadays, the prevalence of soundbites, snippets, quick satisfaction. This song slowly builds to an absolute epic crescendo, but you need to immerse yourself for 6 mins of build up to appreciate the full power of the song and unfortunately most people don't take the time to fully listen. Their loss i say ;-)
Well said. You have to have patience with Tool! The progression of this song beyond belief. Cheers!
I hardly hear anyone talking about "Culling Voices". This song is so underrated.
I'd love to see you react to "The Patient" or "Jimmy" one of these days. Two of their most underrated songs.
Song is a major dud. Annoying too. "Fear Inoculum" is a 2-star track as well. Overrated. Doesn't do anything. Songs that are badass? Uh...Pneuma, Invincible, Descending and 7empest. I don't know why they throw dumb tracks on albums, especially after a hiatus for 13 years.
@@jwc1977 Can you put your inferior opinion in your own thread? Lol
No, but seriously. I don't know what kind of response you expect from me, other than the exact opposite. :) Peace.
I also think this is the weakest track on the album (aside from the filler tracks). just formulaic and boring. and the lyrics and guitar work are weakest on the album too.
Miss G I love "Culling Voices". I believe it's one of the best songs on the record.
@@hydros25 Nope, not "maybe," the filler tracks are incredibly dumb. Fact. Good day.
Probably my favorite song on the album. Its so haunting.
It was my initial favorite too, but now they are all just massive to listen to. The longer the song the better
@@billybob1346 Oh yeah I 100% agree. Every few times I listen to it a new song stands out.
You should check out tool: disposition, reflection, triad.
It’s 3 songs in 1
Such a wonderful and hypnotic sequence!
Yeah for sure
I would save that for last, to be honest. It would be a good finale
@@cristiantentella6266 it's a great finale indeed but Third Eye would also be great to save for last
I agree
Great reaction! I think Maynard's vocals in this one are something out of this world, he can create undescribable atmospheres
I'm glad you did this song, I think it's a masterpiece and my fav of this album. The lyric is from another world
Glad you liked it Drew. This is my favorite off the new album and I’m baffled at how few mentions it gets
This song requires a bit of work. Kind of like the hot girl wearing glasses with the PhD. She gets hotter every time you see her..
This song gets better with more listens
best build up on the entire album imo.
edit- go to "tool first live show 1991" on youtube. thats a good place to start bud.
culling voices and pneuma are the two i keep finding myself going back to again and again.
I think Maynard really gets to shine on this track...it's a little more laid back but when it kicks in...boy does it kick in!! Excellent tune!!
Probably going to be the last reaction I do from ‘Fear Inoculum’ 👏🏻
Hope you guys enjoyed the journey - if you stuck around, please drop a like🙏🏻
Now, what’s next?🧐
Rosetta Stoned
Pushit, Salival version (live)
Jimmy
Stinkfist
Ticks and Leeches
Just to name a few 😀
Just react to every Tool song.
I dare say you're ready for Wings For Marie & 10,000 Days (Wings Pt.2)... Masterpieces 🔥 Lyric video is a must!
Do Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned. 46 and 2, Right in two
Korn new album?
Drew, a pleasure to see your happy screwfaces yet again.
Tool have 5 albums - Undertow (1993), Aenima (1996), Lateralus (2001), 10,000 Days (2006) and, of course, Fear Inoculum (2019). They do actually have the Opiate EP (1992) which predates their studio albums.
Another TH-camr summarised the albums nicely in a way I agree with:
Undertow - The most outright raw and brutal
Aenima - The most fun and energetic
Lateralus - The most psychedelic
10,000 Days - The most heartfelt
Fear Inoculum - The most hypnotic
Each album brings its own thing to the table, but all are essential listens. There is no bad album at all and, as you can see with FI, much of their catalogue grows on you over time as you listen and hear more nuances, complexities and depth in their music.
To help you avoid ruining some experiences on the albums if you choose to react to individual tracks here and there, you HAVE to listen to the following songs together, in sequence, for full effect:
Lateralus - Parabol, Parabola
Lateralus - Disposition, Reflection, Triad
10,000 Days - Wings for Marie, 10,000 Days
10,000 Days - Lost Keys, Rosetta Stoned
Good luck on your journey my dude!
Deadmode excellent
🙌🏻
Tool has 7 albums:
OPIATE
UNDERTOW
AENIME
SALIVAL
LATERALUS
10,000 DAYS
FEAR INOCULUM
@@hollis68 opiate is an E.P technically
I feel like it's kind of on a spectrum, and that's probably why Lateralus is the most common favorite, it's a middle ground that doesn't feel like it's compromising anything
Such an awesome song! So simply worded yet so powerful! Love the line ‘heated altercations we never had, or so I’m told, yet guided by them all, every single one’ it’s absolutely brilliant!!!
I always come back to this song for some reason so far. It’s strangely my favorite off this album. I can’t explain it
Maynard’s voice is so beautiful here
I feel like this band will be considered more legendary 2 hundred years from than any other band because of their content and style, ahead of their time when we are even more of a spiritual species than now..hard to really explain what I'm sensing...
I am just really digging and understanding their evolution as individuals, musicians, and reaching plateaus of achievement together. This project, Fear Inoculum, hits a sonic vibrational nerve to me. What ever they were thriving for..........They fucking hit it hard.
All of their albums are f'n amazing. Culling voices is STUNNING. I have a soft spot for Aenima and Lateralus personally. Those are my absolute faves. Fear Inoculum is phenomenal on so many levels. Every song is brilliant and insanely good. Masterpieces. Love your reviews. Keep 'em coming!!!
This song wasnt popular before someone saw it live at concert . Wow that blew my mind when I saw it . After that I cant stop listening .
ABSOLUTELY!!! MY FAVORITE SONG> My heart swells w/this song. When i 1st herd this songI sobbed hearing that wall of sound. Then laughed from my emotions. What a song. What a BAND! loved yr shouts of pleasure....see u on the next one!!
My fav right now. The "don't you dare" whispers are spine tingling. Love your reaction m8!
Another awesome reaction video Drew. Can't wait for you to get into the other albums. They're all gems, masterpieces. Cheers!
"I'm going to have trouble listening to other bands" welcome to my life haha. I have to purposefully check expectations at the door when listening to other music and it's been that way for 22 years lol
rsbdotexe yep that’s what I accidentally did to my girlfriend. I overheard her explaining TOOL and their complex time signatures to her friends, and telling them that now it’s hard to listen to other bands because of it. It was the most adorable thing ever
The best is still yet to come. All their best music is on Aenima and Lateralus. And saying that, Tool's "good" stuff is amazing to most bands at their best.
Fear inoculum is the best album ever . You HAVE TO buy tickets for the concert . Then listening to Tool will be never the same . The best concert I ever been.
This has become my fave off this album. Until my mood changes that is.
I want to shout out a thank you for strategically placing the ads at convenient spots.
And its really fun to see a new member of the #ToolArmy developing.
Thank you!
That guitar riff in the middle is INSANE
Right in two is another epic experience
They are one of the most underrated bands ever. This song is my second favorite song on this album, the first being descending. I've been listening to Tool since 1995. They are right up there with, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Rush for me.
You have to listen to their cover of No Quarter from the salival show it is one of my favorite songs by Tool and it is one hell of a live performance
Puts me in a trance like state. No one creates a soundscape like these geniuses
This song sounds really fun to play!
Drew, I've enjoyed seeing you fall down the rabbit hole and watching your musical horizons expand listening to Fear Inoculum. I'll be sticking around to watch you tackle their other work!
Loving your TOOL reactions man! This album is phenomenal, but so is all of their discography! I am SO looking forward to you discovering the rest of their music, it is SO good! 🤘
Please listen to dispositon/reflection/triad next!
I've been listening to Tool since 1995, in all that time I have NEVER got tired of any of the material, everything they have done still evokes so much feeling and emotion whenever I listen to it. This album is still blowing my mind at each listen (and thats alot of listens so far!!). I don't care when or even if new tool material comes out, IMO they have left such an important legacy that I am sure I will listen to till the day I die. And it is really nice to watch you discover and appreciate them for the true artists that they are.
I envy you. I remember enamored I was with Tool when I first heard eulogy on the radio visiting my brother for the summer in California. And I really still am. Tool has a way invoking a wide array of emotions in the course of a single song
Oh how much I envy you, for you are yet to discover their discography. Keep it up
This whole album is great, this song is amazing, instantly like this track first time around. Great reaction vids BTW, keep it up.
been calling it since the release. Sleeper pick on the entire album. Just phenomenal song. These dudes dont age.
Hey Drew, if your checking out Tool’s back catalogue I recommend “Right inTwo”
I agree Culling Voices gets overlooked. Decending is my favorite but this might be right there as the 2nd...along with Pnema. Shit the whole thing is, true to form, genius. I just gravitated toward Descending right away. But this might be the most beautiful and graceful song on the album
I see my spelling mistakes and hate them 😂
Love your tool reactions man. Keep em coming please. And yes the build up to that big riff was fucking fantastic!!! Very underrated song.
hey i have the same headphones :DDD they are amazing. Nice react video
I think this song is Maynard's answer to the Me too incident that happened some time back. Where someone accused Maynard of doing the unthinkable. Just my thoughts. Love your reactions. Remember to spiral out with compassion, self respect, and friction.
Here...
consequenceofsound.net/2018/06/maynard-james-keenan-sexual-assault-allegations/amp/
I saw some Twitter thread exposing the fake identify of the person as well.
If it was a hoax, please refrain from referring to is as the "Me Too" incident, as the Me Too movement is giving strength to actual survivors. Any liars have nothing to do with the actual movement or any healing and justice that comes from it. I hope you understand.
@@MaynardsSpaceship I understand where you are coming from, but people like you need realize many of the loudest champions of your movement are hypocrites. You need to take responsibility for your movement being used for political and social cancel culture reasons if you want it to be taken seriously. You can't expect people to support your movement when it's also destroying innocent people's lives and ironically making people who have actually been abused less likely to be taken seriously. To ignore that very large bad side of your movement is just gaslighting anyone who has a problem with it. Telling them to ignore all the bad stuff while claiming it's "just about helping victims," does me, you, the innocent that are accused, and real victims all a disservice.
This is the song i just cant get out of my head. That guitar is hypnotic and maynards vocals are excellent.
I think you should react to Tool playing live, Pushit (Salival). It's awesome! Maynard's vocals are incredible on that track.
This is actually my favorite song from the album....close to Descending. I love the melodies, Maynard's voice, and the slow build-up to the explosive final 1/3 of the song. I only wish they were playing these two tracks live on their tour.
thomas richards me too! Seeing them again Jan 29. I wish they would play this and/or 7empest. My face would melt away and I’d be happy 🤘🏻🌀
@@lbow09 Just saw them here tonight in Dallas. Great show as always. Kept pretty much the same setlist as the last leg with a couple of cool surprises. I do wish they would mix it up a little more and play a few more deeper cuts, but still a great show. Maybe on the next leg or two they will play 7empest, Culling Voices, or my wish, Disposition.Reflection/Triad.
Tool has done it again...a song I wasnt all digging compared to their others but it just hit me how good it really is!
Drew.... to get the full effect of Tool, you need to go from start to finish on their entire discography. Nothing will excite you more than seeing how this band evolved, I know you have heard songs from most of their albums, but really man do it over from the start, I promise you IT WILL BE WORTH IT 🤘🏻
Always love joining you for these journeys my friend, hope all is well and everything man 🍺🍺
Go raibh maith agat mo chara, as ag éisteach le Tool!!!
The amount of people discovering Tool since they opened up to the streaming services and the actuality of Fear Inoculum finally arriving has been so cool to see here online. I got into them at 17, a good friend taped me the Aenima album right before the Leaving Cert results. That was in 1997,and the whole album scared the shite outta me. Id been a huge Grunge/Metallica fan for years in but I hadnt heard anyting like Aenima at that time. It was unsettling, uncompromising, uneasy, and over the weeks, it became utterly insidiously addictive, each song sounding like a soundtrack to a movie. It mirrored and soundtracked the fears in my head at the time about growing up, life after school, moving on, and uncertainties ahead. Today, its easily one of my favourite albums of all time.
If yer digging into that one, my personal faves are "Stinkfist" "Jimmy", "H", 46 and 2, Aenima itself - and as mentioned here by others, - the hallucinogenic , gargantuan WTF of "Third Eye".
And "Pushit"- but the live version from "Salival" is even better. If you liked the trance inducing brilliance of the new album, that is for you!
Ive seen them every time they've been to Éire, so lets hope then, for a mind blowing, eye popping show from them nxt year here!
Sláinte!
My FAVORITE track on the cd!
Your reaction to Culling Voices made me a subscriber. This is my favorite song on the album.
Definitely do Sober live in 1993 (I think). So good!
Yeah I agree definitely Disposition, Reflection and Triad all together from Lateralus.
You pretty much introduced me to Tool. Thank you!
It seams like you're loving what Danny puts into the band. He does a drum bit in one of their best songs. 46 and 2. The song is predominantly in 4\4 time but occasionally falls into 7\8 time. and Danny solos over along section in 7\8. check it out.. 46 and 2 off Aenema
The song is predominantly in 6/8, drops into 4/4 at times.
@@gSWG3R Culling Voices is for sure.. I was talking about 46 and 2. :)
Glad you are enjoying TOOL!
Top 5 recommendations:
Pushit (Live) - Salival
No Quarter - Salival
Wings for Marie Part 1 & 2 - 10,000 Days
Rosetta Stoned - 10,000 Days
Sober - Undertow
For live stuff I really recommend the Salival album live version of Pushit (just search Pushit Salival) and people love the 'Tool Sober 93' live video. Thanks for the great videos!
Lateralus is one of the greatest albums of all time, regardless of the genre.
Yah! Greatest work of art in any media, be it literary, theater, visual arts, or song.
🙌🏻 absolutely! It’s brilliant!
I would love to see you reacting to the songs Jimmy, A Perfect Circle - Judith, Wings For Marie & 10,000 Days (Wings Pt.2). In that order in one video.
Drew, my main dood... another great job mate. Loving the channel more and more every time I watch a video. On a side note allow me compliment you on to tattoo you got on the left arm there. I myself am a bit of a tattoo collector and have a rather large number of them. Yours does seem to compliment you well and that is the point of a good tattoo. 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
The vocals on this track are so angelic. This is a great song off an incredible good album. There's nobody like Tool, period.
Maynard James Keenan ,the only singer that can scream a whisper.
Time for the Aenima album... the album that changed my taste in music.. Enjoy bud!
And you definitely gotta do the live version of "Pushit" off the Salival album fo sho!
@@jeremiahmackay226 though that version is good, the original is best. Would rather him try the studio version first. Almost two different songs.
@@armitaged3573 oh for sure! I agree 100%.. I just suggested that cause he asked for a live song. But Drewskie should totally listen to the originals before going to the live versions.. Unless he wants to bang out "No Quarter" from Salival. Not sure if that was "live" tho. Or Id recommend "Sober" cause that sounded the same as the original. I cant wait till he digs deeper and discovers Aenima tho... Maynards voice is at its best.. As always, Tool has never made a bad song.. But they didnt even come close to making a bad song off of that cd.
@@jeremiahmackay226 now we're talking lol
9 albums, where the hell are the rest? Now that I've got the playful jab off my chest, seriously my wife and I are going to see them in a couple of weeks and I just found out that they have added this to the setlist and I'm beyond stoked, I love this song, it strikes a very deep chord with me personally, and I appreciate the reaction.
I think the only reason people would still rank Aenima and Lateralus as decidedly better albums is mostly volume of content. Aenima had 9 full-length songs (all masterpieces) and Lateralus had 9, though Disposition/Reflection/Triad are practically one really long cohesive experience that play better in tandem than individually - even though I'll listen to them all individually. There's also more of a balance with the aggressiveness and solemness than there is here that I think captures a more youthful + mature sound. However, this album I feel is going to be the one I play on into my twilight years.
All that being said, each album carries so much weight that picking a favorite comes down to your own headspace at any given moment. While I find 10,000 Days potentially the weakest overall album in terms of collective experience it has 4 songs that I probably listen to most frequently (Vicarious, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, and Right in Two) and Wings For Marie Parts 1 and 2 are among the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
Jambi? Cmon man. That is one of bangiest banger tool songs lol.
For me the favourite album changes all the time, ive stopped saying I prefer this or that album, they are all just great.
To me personally the flow is a little better on both of those, with a tiny bit more energetic lyrics, anything else to me is HIGHLY up to debate
You realky need to explore Maynard singung in A Perfect Circle. Huge band with some rock all stars in it. Culling Voices sounds just like A Perfect Circle. The Outsider, Pet, The Noose are all solid songs to start with. They have one of the best live performances ever on You Tube at Red Rocks. Amazing concert and Maynard steels the show. APC is a must listen too fot All Tool Fans and I know you fans are backingbme on this....
Hey Drew, thanks for your reaction man. Can’t wait to hear your opinion of the album AEnima after hearing and hopefully reacting to all of it :)
Listening start to finish, Lateralus is the more impactful experience imo.
do 46 & 2 if you haven't, and this live performance of sober th-cam.com/video/u7lweNCCwS0/w-d-xo.html
Definitely do tool push it live salival! Great live performance.
Favorite tune on an album of great great tunes.
Lateralus and Fear Inoculum are tied for my favorites
Aenima, Lateralus are number 1 in my book. Fear Inoculum is starting to get there to. It took me a few listens to really get into it. You have to experience Tool, not just listen. This masterpiece is quickly becoming a fave as well. Brilliant.
Hi Drew... Best genuine reactions with no hysterics :) so glad this album is introducing new fans to Tool. Please do the live version of Sober. Would love to see you do some reactions to A Perfect Circle starting with The Noose.
Another fantastic reaction, and great to see your continued evolution through TOOL.
I think you may be ready for The Mars Volta now.... start with one of their songs “Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt” or “Tetragrammaton” and strap in for a confusing, terrifying, exciting, and musically genius ride.
I second TMV. I would start with shorter brilliant tracks, like
Inertiatic Esp or Widow.
As a Tool fan of 25+ years I love every track, but Pnuema and Culling Voices were my initial favorites, and both of them still are a month later.
This song literally has the best buildup of all time, period. Fucking masterful.
Welcome to the Tool Army....next is Salival ....Tool’s live album....will blow u away
November 9th in Detroit cant come soon enough!!!
When it comes to the music part (guitar drums and bass). Fear Inoculum is the best imo. Lyrically (meaning of the song) I like Anemia.
This is incredible my man 🔥🔥🔥
Why don't you 'descend' down the release ladder and do 10000 Days next? 🙃❤️🤘
when you first listen to this album you would say that pneuma and tempest are the greatest songs..but then you listen to all the songs multiple times..and then it hits you..culling voices rules..second half of the song is truly incredible!!!
Thanks Drew you rock!
Compass Rose my man!🙏🏻🙏🏻
Favorite band!!! Welcome to the TOOL ARMY!!!
great sum-up. tool have remained constant and true to their sound. the production gets better. when i first heard Aenima, it was the sound -as much as the songs- that blew me away, and i think that is probably true of every fan irrespective of which recording it was. the production on all their albums has been state of the art (as has the art) and fear inoculum is surely their best sounding album.
On the subject of the 'build up' style you mentioned, you might want to check out King Crimson. Besides other 70s prog bands, Crimson's sound is a major influence on Tool's music...Particularly their album's RED and STARLESS & BIBLE BLACK
I heard swans were a bit of an influence for the first 2 albums, similar vibe
The song is definitely a haunting one
Your so right about other bands being worse after loving tool, other bands will never come close to making me feel what a song like pushit (salival) does.
they don’t have any “bad”albums, and haven’t written a “bad” song
@Scott Heslin The fillers on the new album are probably their best interludes. Very atmospheric. If you think these interludes are bad, listen to Ænima's lol. 4 and a half minutes of wind and an electronic noise.
@Scott Heslin 3 words for you : dier von Satan
@@thebatman1482 They felt pretty out of space for me.
@Scott Heslin The interludes don't really count IMO, especially since they're not even included on the physical release.
Have you heard Fear inoculum ?
Mi favorita …hay que disfrutar cada segundo y como te envuelve la música hasta que estalla y tu mente vuela lejos de este plano
Keep spiraling out man 🤘🏻
This album is a tidal wave! It’s picking up momentum!
Its almost takes characteristics of a Gregorian chant the inflections he uses, just amazing.
YES! I've said before that MJK sometimes sounds like an ancient monk!
Oh man, nailed it. I’d been trying to place that sound and that’s totally it.
This Tool album was worth the wait!
Check out the song "you lied" its a live cover of Justin Chancellor's previous band.
man, just heard that song today and i can't believe i didn't listen to it before, absolute fucking banger
@@norseca542 incredible isn't it? I was blown away!
@@wellickdellick the bass in that song is a fucking force of nature, when Tool covers your song it becomes theirs
This song rips. Super underrated. I can’t wait until they break it out live. I have 4 TOOL shows lined up in the next 3 months. CoronaVirus better not get the tour canceled!

you gotta do Lost Keys / Rosetta Stoned off of 10,000 days. One of their best
I don’t normally recommend another band on these reaction vids. With that said check out Porcupine Tree live from Tilburg. You’ll dig it.
And yes this is my favorite on the album for now.
Do you know whats the beauty here? You remind me of my colegue from work. Tool reminds me me of Tool.
