You can avoid the blackening of your pots just by coating the outside with a small amount of liquid dish soap before you cook with it. The black easily washes off when you are done.
Thanks for the info. I will try it!
Thank you for the suggestion
Thank you so much, I'm learning all I can the last couple of years. Praying we all stay safe and have food to eat.
i really learned and enjoyed this video! thank you so much
You are welcome! I am glad it was helpful.
Personally, I'm very hesitant of buying anything important like a lighter or matches from the dollar store. From my experience, they have a very high rate of not working
I have bought the three pack of lighters for years and they all have worked perfectly. I use on a daily basis lol. The matches are good as well.. They’re the same ones Walmart sell. Though I do believe Walmart has them for a little cheaper, a few cents.. But same company and packaging. So go ahead and stock up!!
@@Momma4210 your anecdotal story doesn't mean much to me since I also have several lighters and matches from them. About half the lighters don't even work right out of the box, and about three out of four matches won't light no matter how many times I try to strike them and will fall apart long before they ever strike a flame
Match inefficiency is a result of federally mandated changes in the formula. Don't you feel safer?
Thank you for your survival lessons presented in your gentle way. Im q new prepper and have come a ling way since I started watching these channels. Don't want to be scared, just prepared for my family.
Probably the most straightforward and informative video compared to the countless other TH-camrs out there.
Added to my playlist.
Thank you. Glad it was helpful.
Finally someone not freaking out about the latest things you won't be able to get/panic/fear mongering. Just good info.
You can buy 10 boxes of matches for $1.25 there
Yes one of the best buys at Dollar Tree
This was the best preparedness solution to cooking. THANK YOU!
Wow, thank you!
Just a note.
For the Suite on the pan. When you do the alcohol or a campfire , to make it EASY to CLEAN UP!
COAT the OUT SIDE of the pan with SOAP.
Recommend, bar bath soap. Suggest Unscented (like ivory).
To your comment about no flame adjustment. Just raise up, or lower the pan or rack.
Thank you for the info about the soap.
Raising and lowering will adjust the heat, just hard to do after you start cooking, but can be done.
Why bar soap instead of liquid?
I believe my folks used liquid dish soap to coat pans/coffee pot when camping.
🌷Living in North Pole Alaska here, my house kitchen is my grid down kitchen. When I moved in here 40 some odd years ago. The power would go off for a Month at a time so when I remodeled the all electric house and kitchen, I Installed a propane cook stove and a wood stove to heat the house. I just need a bug out stove. 🏡😊
Thank you for the video. For alcohol I use denatured alcohol or go to the liquor store and buy Everclear 190 proof, they both burn hot and clean and with Everclear you can also use it as an antiseptic and for a cocktail to knock the edge off of a life and death day of survival and as a pain killer in a emergency.
Lol. Great advice.
Chef Prepper, This is fantastic! I subscribed because I love it!
Thank you IOSALive! And Welcome to our channel!
Way back when I was in Girl Scouts we wiped liquid dishwashing detergent on the bottom of our pots and pans to keep the soot from sticking to the pan. This was back in the late ‘50’s/early ‘60’s. We have a small percolating drip coffee pot at home that has come in handy without electricity. We also made a “Buddy burner”. made from a tall Hawaiian Punch can with one end removed. You use an old fashioned can opener.( the part to punch triangular pour holes to cut four holes along the bottom edge and three holes on the opposite top side where the lid is still attached. You use an empty tuna can with rolled up corrugated cardboard inside of it covered with melted parafin for your fire. We cooked a sausage paddy on the Buddy burner first, then an egg.
i am blown away at how easy it is to make a stove.. just rubbing alcohol?!! wow..
THANK YOU for the links that you put below video..... I urge anyone to vist those links.....I have most of that already.....but..... gonna get more Lodge and also other things ...yup.... thanks..... give me a link to the best buy on butane fuel for the camp stove in that kitchen??
Ya know, if you take a wool welders blanket and cut it the circumference and hight then line the can, you will save ALOT of alcohol!
I do have a couple sterno stoves and cans of sterno
I learned a lot of these things back in 2021 but when you live in a city and dont use that knowledge, its easy to forget. I actually bought that Stanley coffee press but may have forgotten how to use it. We had tornados come through Omaha a couple of days ago. 40,000 have been without power for 2 days already. This is a GREAT REMINDER on how to keep cooking and surviving ❤
Thnx and especially for mentioning the fire safety items too.
You are welcome.
Rocket stove
Chef Prepper, I love this! I have saved many of your videos and this one will be added to my collection! You have a wonderful way of presenting information in an easy to understand manner. Thank you!
You are welcome. And Thank you Cyndajo. I am glad our videos are helpful.
Nice but it seems like more than 30 % water in that alcohol. Have you tried the yellow bottles of gas dryer from the dollar tree ???
That was a reallu good video. Thanks. Didnt knlw about the alchol can.
Thank you, glad it was helpful.
I woukd stay away from the dollar tree or one like it grate/rack. Those things are too flimsy to mess with for hot liquids.
Look for a more heavy duty one thats harder to bend.
Or else maybe double up the cheap bendy one.
Plus for those that dont know it. You wantt to keep those unopen cans away from the heat. They can ex.
Plowed (spelled wrong on purpose) . But usually take a lot of heat. Back as kid we thru a few in a campfire for science of course. And they bust and jump and open real nice in a campfire.
Les, sometimes that tuna can can still be burning and just so low, the flame cannot be seen..so people need to know that, to NOT ADD FUEL unless they are POSITIVE that fire is OUT.
We bought a water distiller, and of course, I had to try to make some alcohol with it and ended up with some stuff that MIGHT work in a small engine or mower in a bind. And THAT fuel is even more invisible..I would test what was coming out of the spout, by getting a spoonful, take it to the sink, and light it over the drain. And it was often quite invisible. But very much still lit. Did you know that this kind of alcohol can be made with ONLY water, yeast and sugar? YEP! And it's easy to make to, to run through the distiller. I don't know much about that stuff, but I know it would be a good stove fuel like this. Another great option is a biogas stove, which I think all of us should have on hand..and the knowledge on how to make it. We truly COULD be making our own biogas every day and using it for all KINDS of needs. Why are we wasting all those food scraps and grass clippings, etc?
You don't even need a still for this. You can freeze concentrate it in plastic jugs in the freezer. Once solid, allow it to drain open and upside down into another container. The alcohol separates from the water when the water freezes. Not recommended for drinking as the heads that you would discard or save for a parts cleaner at the beginning of the distillation process would remain and give you quite the hangover later. A great way to get a higher concentration of alcohol without the expense of a still. Also buy yourself some champaign yeast as it has a higher alcohol tolerance and can get you to 20% just brewing.
@@josephrogers6689 I have heard of doing this! I never tried it yet, but think it would likely work well. And that's smart, about the yeast, too. Where is the best place to buy that yeast? I should get some of it.
I'd like to know why we aren't driving cars that run on BIOGAS? The scumbags want to save the earth, so why aren't we using this organic method to fuel everything smarter?
@@josephrogers6689 I have a freeze dryer..lol..the first fluids out would be the ones to save..lol..
I didn't know that Cafe Bustelo had an instant version! I usually use Gold Medal Espresso for my instant, but will look for the Cafe Bustelo now! Ole'!
My Wal-Mart had it
I have a lot of left over sanitizer. How well does it work?
Tea candles are another option. A roll of cardboard soaked in wax works too. I prefer sterno to all the rest if im not using a gas stove. Or outdoor of course firewood.
Great ideas. Sounds like you have a some experience in such things!
Just stumbled onto this video in my feed. Awesome! I never even knew there was such a thing as a fire blanket for home use! I immediately subscribed and went to Amazon to order this very important item! Thank you so much for sharing! Extremely helpful video!
Awesome! Thank you!
You can adjust the flame by lowering the amount of alcohol in the can
Lowering the amount of alcohol will only shorten the burn time in my experience
You do have flame adjustment on a stove like this - raising or lowering the rack the pot sits on.
I love this idea! The only thing that concerns me is that I have coil stoves so I wouldn't know where I could put it that it wouldn't overheat the surface that covers the coils.
Also, I heard somewhere else about cutting cardboard into strip about the same width as whatever tuna or chicken can you're going to use and then pour wax in there as fuel. Would that not last longer?
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS Use a cover on the can before adding fuel. In daylight, you can have a flame even though it looks like it has gone out already and that could be disastrous.
This may be a silly question, but have you ever boiled dry beans on this? I see so many talking about storing dry beans but if you don't have power how would you fully cook them? They take 3 hours to cook, over an hour if you soak them overnight.
No, I don't think these type of stoves would be a good choice for cooking dry beans. I suppose it could be done, but would take a lot of fuel.
Would probably be better to use commercial stove (butane or propane) and use a pressure cooker. Or, use canned beans.
Why do more campers not use the alcohol tuna can stove? What about Co carbon Monoxide compared to other fuels?
I think a lot of people use alcohol, they just usually use a commercially made alcohol stove like the Trangia or something similar.
Those type of stoves are a little safer to use, especially if you are not on a good solid, flat surface. But DIY stoves like these can come in very handy in emergencies.
I haven't ever measured any Carbon Monoxide from alcohol fuels. But still you should have a Carbon Monoxide Detector if using any alternative fuels indoors.
Your oven rack works well and is very sturdy for this style of cooking.
Yes, true, true idea.
Good informative video. I noticed your individual instant coffee packets. These are quite expensive. As a diabetic I accumulate a lot of test strip canisters, which are very sturdy and watertight. Three grams of Folgers instant in one of those canisters makes a great cup of coffee at a huge savings over the store bought packets.

What is themname of the liquid you put in the Alcohol the red. Ct
It was the same Rubbing Alcohol.
Excellent. Finally something practical. Have been doing alcohol cooking for years. Alcohol and #1 diesel heating also. Caution, if you know that you are stupid, don’t do this.
70% doesn't burn well...91% is better.
Yes, the higher the alcohol content, the cleaner the burn. You can also use 50%, but you will have water left over after the flame goes out.
Great demonstration. I learn something each time you put a video out.
Thank you. I am glad you find our videos helpful.
Thank you, this is very smart, very knowledgeable, for someone who might not know hoe to survive,ty for your teaching.ty
You are very welcome
Your videos are so full of great information. Thank you for the time you put into them.
How long does this mini stove burn?
Depends on the amount of alcohol, but with an ounce of alcohol about 10-12 minutes or so.
Coat the bottom of your pan with bar soap suds before putting over flame to make cleanup easy.
yup....100%
In the toilet paper stove could you roll newspaper up in a tight roll and use it instead of toilet paper?
How do you get to your Amazon store?
Most of our videos have a link in the description box. Thank you.
We have been campers for years and we found if we rub the bottom and sides of a saucepan with a light dish soap (film) it helps with the cleanup of the pan so much easier. Thank you for the video, gave me some more ideas. Liz
You are welcome! I will be trying your idea, thank you.
Very nice.
I have Used one before.
Works well.
Yeah, can come in very handy and is actually kinda fun to use.
Thank you for watching.
Thinking out of the box Good job
Thank you even for showing us your mistakes. We learn also.
This was great! Thanks! I live in an apartment, and many things, like propane stoves, are prohibited!
Glad it was helpful!
Looks dangerous. I did not like seeing that flame billowing so high.
More dangerous than commercial stoves. You have to be cautious, and have the proper safety equipment.
Thank you sir !
Most welcome!
nice. thanks.
Thank you for this! Great advice.
You are welcome!
👍👍👍
Maybe put a piece of metal over part of can to adjust heat some
It will probably work, but be careful and don't get burned.
Thank you
You are welcome.
This was actually informative. I didn’t think of this way, thank you!

Didn't know Stanley made a French press , but noticed it seems to be made of plastic ,i love a French press but must be glass and stainless steel only and trust me u can taste the difference been using the 50 yrs

Perfect time for the coffee to brew is 4 min and 4 sec., according to coffee experts. Where did you get your French press?
I will try that 4 minute and four seconds or as close to it as I can get the next time.
The French Press I have is a Stanley. I think I got it from Amazon. I have had it for several years.
I really like it for when I am only want to make a couple cups of coffee.
