I think a great deal at Dollar Tree is the wound care kit. I think thete are 25 items ... gauze pads of various sizes, tape, bandaids. I probably left something out. I saw something similar at Walgreens for $21.xx
Definitely cheap hygiene is great from dollar tree. You can use the 4 bars of soap melt them down add some scented oil. Give it a much better smell. Also the tall candles they have. You can heat up the wax and make them into different sizes.
Start saving your dryer lint and toilet paper rolls. Stuff the tp roll (but not too tightly) with dryer lint, dip each end of the roll and you have a really good fire starter. Most home fires start from dryer lint, so we all know it combust easily. Been using these to start campfires for years.
I see in your video (on the counter) the dollar tree dehumidifier - THEY WORK! I had one, unopened on the counter by the stove. About 2 months or so later, I saw wetness on the counter and was baffled (there's no water near that particular counter). Lo and behold, it was filled to overflowing with water, so mystery was solved. It sucked the water out of the air, I can conclusively state these work! (obviously somewhere on the package it had an opening).
Box milk, shelf stable for 6+ months due to UHT pasturization. I rotate it. More expensive than regular milk at grocery store, but regular milk often sours before I use it all. They sell box milk at grocery store too but at 3x the price.
Here in Northern Utah dollar tree used to carry the ACV but not for years .. The best thing I ever saw in there was canned corn beef back when it was $! It was a mistake, it should have gone to Dollar General, it was that brand. Needless to say I bought them all but there was just 10. Still pretty good deal. I have never seen those little lamps here.
please put your matches in a dry environment (baggie w/air removed). the moisture in the air ruin the match tips. petroleum jelly is a great fire starter, medical and protectorant. Epsom salt is an infection remover, stool loosener and plant food. Crisco (et al) vegetable shortening great for cooking, lighting and heat. honey antiseptic great for burns, cuts and sopapillas.
I buy the solar lights and put them away. When hurricane predicted I put them outside and when my neighbors realize they have no flashlights I gift them They also come in handy for small children afraid in hurricane my neighbor took one broke off the post put it in kids room it stayed lit until kid asleep
Some of my favorite food items to get are the La Sierra Refried Pinto Beans. They come in a 15.2 ounce pouch and can be microwaved or heated on the stovetop. Great on burritos. And the Brunswick Chicken salad kits ( they have tuna, too). They come with a small can of chicken salad, cracker and a (reusable) small spoon. It's not something that will sustain you over a long period of time, but I like it sometimes for a light lunch or supper. The same kit by Bumblebee (which also makes the Brunswick), is about twice the price at Walmart.
I would add a first aid supply kit to the list, Band-Aids, bandages, gauze. and aspirin. Aspirin you can also use as an anti fungal agent in your boots. I also use a DT spray bottle to spray H2O2 H peroxide on wounds.
The reason why the lantern isn't the best prepping value is that you have not factored the cost of ownership. When compared to a lantern with a rechargeable battery vs replacing alkaline batteries, this Dollar Tree lantern is 1000-7000% more expensive over the course of its lifetime. Naturally, you can buy rechargeable AA lithium batteries, but they are still more expensive than a lantern that includes a built in rechargeable battery. The best bang for your buck item at the Dollar Tree is ....100 Tea bags. Why? Obviously because you can make tea with it, but also it is an astringent that can stem the flow of bleeding (get it wet and pack it on top the wound).
It Doesn't need cooking, I grew up eating it on a bun or bread as a sandwich. Back then they were called kipper snacks. They are delicious but they do make your house smell fishy.
None of my local Dollar Trees have the QuickFlame. I’d checked 6 different ones. That stuff is sold out at all of them. I got Isopropyl alcohol to use instead. If I saturate cotton balls with it, and light it in a safe, burn proof container, it may do the trick. DT website has an option to pay online and have a case of them delivered to store. But do I need 36 of them? I am not so sure.
Les, your audio level was WAY down in this one. Not a problem with closed captions though. Thought you would like to know. An unlisted item I like to keep a supply of at home from Dollar Tree is Hydrogen Peroxide. Have not seen the Himalayan Salt at mine but will keep an eye out. Thank you!

I really like your idea for the fire kit.
I bought 2 of those cute lamps a few months ago. Great suggestions!
Thanks, I'm going to look for those lanterns.
I like sardines and other tinned sea foods. So does my dog. Tuna/salmon,sardines,smoked oysters on rice are a good emergency dog food.
Thanks for not talking too much at the start. Some folks think what they have to say is more important than the information itself.🤗🙄🤗
Those lanterns work just fine.

Bar soap is great for travel too since it can't accidentally spill all over your stuff.

All of these items are good, but I like the rice.

Hi Chef, I see neither kits nor soaps on the buymeacoffee page. Am I too late, or am I looking at the wrong thing?
