Definitely a life long dream to walk in my great-grandfather's step by driving a Studebaker. He used to work in the factory at South Bend, Indiana, the main place where it originated and owned a Studebaker in the day.

Next, you've got a real good eye for tastefully done classics - I was thinking the same thing about this coupe express being the El Camino of its' day. But you've either got really good hand/eye coordination or you keep a damp cloth handy for refueling, 'cause I know I'd hate getting gas stains on the beautiful woodwork. Great job as usual!

This is a renowned build in Studebaker-land. Search "1937 Studebaker coupe express" on Facebook - and it is a well-documented build (incl 300+ photos in-process), including some modifications. It is also documented very briefly in an article in October 2019 CAR KULTURE DELUXE Magazine, written by the builder/owner Shaun Salehyan of San Diego. Aprx 3000 of the C-E were built in 1937; more were built in 1938 & 1939 - both years receiving different front-end designs and a slightly longer rear bed. Yes, the original 6-cyl engine was swapped to a Supercharged Studebaker 289 from a 1964 Studebaker GT Hawk - where the supercharged V8 R2 was factory-installed.
Very nice video Scottie! In fact i am a plastic modelist! I am assembling now a Impala 64 SS Low Rider from Revell which is giving me a real headache lol. It has some parts fabrication errors like bodywork crooked and it was not fitting to chassi. However, this i solved! Anyways, congratulations for your videos. They are awesome!
I believe it was designated as a CJ 5 Coupe Express. Although I have never seen one in person, I did come across it featured in Collectible Automobile magazine a long time ago
The way we do buttons is they get pressed and wrapped with button press. They have eye hole for string and needle them throw and put exact pressure throw seat tie to back. Recovering bench seats are easy copy old pattern make ton marks. We only unsew half seat flip flop pattern. Everything has to be an exact copy. Or tayor like good suit. Tighter fit better look.

A car with a goods carrying capacity at the back on the original car chassis. I drive the last model Holden ute SSV which is the best one ever- 6.2 Liter LS3 - all the bells and whistles. They stopped making them about a year ago. Independent rear end on a Caprice chassis.
There is nothing better than a Studebaker, the people of the usa were wrong to only prefer gm, ford and chrysler, when these cars like Studebaker were immensely superior, but since at that time they had tons of dollars they could make their wishes and destroy the other manufacturers and so they did. Today in 2022 it is not like that, they are no longer the first and they are suffering what they did to all those wonderful brands that unfortunately we do not have today. As is life at that time, not even the government helped them, instead between 2005 and 2010 the government had to put up billions of dollars to rescue them.

Yes, I believe I read that was a 1957 Studie 289 V8 with a McCollough supercharger…from a Golden Hawk, backed by a 4 spd manual.
