Awesome! Everything you say and have done Chris is what martial art is supposed to be. The "Black Eye" of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that it has attracted and provided a platform for individuals who don't really need Jiu-Jitsu! So many regular people are intimidated and lose out on the chance to learn.
Even though jiujitsu was formed for self defense, I see it as a mental training! I love sport jiujitsu and no gi. I hate self defense bjj. Most of it doesn’t work.
@@panterajiujitsu1 what he said about base and distance management helps immensely in any fight situation as does the confidence aspect. a big part of our training and belt promotion is having someone with gloves attack, that helps as well.
Got the privilege to roll with Chris when he was at a conference at our Gym. I have a purple belt and 50 pounds on him and I could make zero progress towards anything meaningful. I then drove him across town and dropped him off solo at a restaurant he wanted to try and he said I’ll make it from here. To add color based on his dark answers in the interview, “The restaurant” was a horror movie themed food truck in a gravel parking lot with a lifesize Jason standing outside. Cool dude with insane knowledge that he can apply.
Man I love this. Thank you for listening and sharing your story about Chris. I'm looking forward to getting to train with him this year. He will certainly be back on the show
when he said "Show up on time and don't be a dick" I was like damn, you're a real one Chris! He's the man. Thank you for taking the time to listen and leave a message
Well he is pretty much rickson in a different body and hes not that well known. One of our better BB trains with him regularly and he said he makes him feel like a white belt. The guys really legit and probably had his butt get kicked repeatedly back in the day, maybe its just toughness and not anger.
I feel like competitive blue or purple would fold any of those old school Gracie self defense guys. He said they are teaching warm up. Literally sounds like what I thought it was. Just sounds so outdated and childish. Especially with this 14 year old bravado talk.
IDK. Competetive jiu jitsu is very physical. What if that modern competitor gets old or gets an injury which limits his athletic abilities. What actual knowledge, awareness and jiu jitsu he actually has compared to those old school guys? I'm not trying to make a point that todays bjj guys are somehow worse. I am stating that competetive ANYTHING not only jiu jitsu has a huge ATHLETIC part.
@@nikogdatakogo I totally agree with you. I compete and I dont even think thats the best way to teach jiujitsu. I think self defense part is kind of neglected and principles that you just mentioned. I only say rolling and practical use of BJJ is necessary for it to be effective and that can be done in non competitive or non sport environment. Like if me and you put MMA gloves and roll and throw light punches thats in my mind perfect and better than sport BJJ. I actually think BJJ schools can use some more of that which is what made Gracie jiujitsu so great. Like Vale Tudo style rolling.

Kron Gracie showed a great display of Gracie jiu jitsu in his recent fight. He survived which seems to be the biggest underlying message I believe.
That was a hard fight to watch. I hope Kron comes back with a menacing gameplan and puts his striking on display next time.
Kron was useless in his last 2 fights, surviving isnt the goal of a professional fighter.
@@scarred10 that's the joke haha
Are you on drugs?
Man, i miss this guy...Having said that, i feel a little triggered about the "show up on time..." part. 😂

I like his demeanor, I feel like he will be a spearhead in jiu-jitsu, in Preserving the jiu-jitsu for self defense
indeed
Oss 🔥
He hosted a seminar at my JJ school & the trainers raved for weeks about it. Disappointed I missed it.
I just missed him as well. He was in LA for a weekend but I was traveling. Super bumed.
I can see why he's best mates with Chris Haueter
Lol, gracie mafia clan helper
What makes you say that ?
dude seems angry
He's definitely been through a wild ride, as he mentioned. Jiu Jitsu seems to be the stronghold

Great interview! Burns is a cool dude

He seems like a idiot ,a self righteous one that worships rickson who certainly doesnt deserve it.
