To be honest, I bought the XM5's BECAUSE it doesnt have voice clip feedback. I absolutely hated that with my XM4's. Also the microphone sounds a lot better in the XM5, which means that because there are better microphones, the ANC is also better.

I’ve purchased both. I actually bought for my wife and two kids the Bose 700. I myself didn’t like the sound of the Bose. They sounded more synthetic if that makes sense. I returned them and got the Sony xm5. The sound is amazing especially with Deezer 360. The Sony eq is
way more useable to tweak your music. As you’ve said the app is filled with options. I like Bose but I love the Sony. Thanks for your review.

@Mahham Baber They're actually quite comfortable, provided you wear the headband properly, otherwise it can cause some earache, but I'm sure the same can be said for any headphone.

I had actually chosen the Bose just at the start of the pandemic over the previous Sony ones based off of DHRME reviews and sound tests, actually. I have absolutely loved the headphones and they've served me very well with the noise cancellation, and especially calls. The only downside for me has been Bose's app, which is glitchy sometimes, and the sources for my headphones have disappeared in the app, so it's back to the old way of switching devices, rather than just a couple of quick taps on your phone. Also, my bose ones are blue ones and I think they look gorgeous, even compared to other high end headphones in the market today. Thanks for your Directional, Helpful, Realistically Managed Expertise.

Yo my man, I'm struggling to decide between those two - and kinda still considering Sennheiser Momentum 4 I gotta say. Does the MX5's bass really overwelm and takes out the definition of everything else as some reviewers said? I'm almost going for it, but still concerned with the sound (want it for work/calls, youtube and some music listening). Thanks bro.

Good job guys! I'd been trying to decide between these 2 for which has the best anc & comfort (I have others for top sound quality, but they are not great on calls or with anc). Being an android user this clinches it for me - going with the Sony!! Super helpful to hear about the differences between android & ios, you're literally the only 2 to point this important factor out! Thanks guys. You're awesome!

I owned XM3 and no issues with them except for the call quality, which is terrible. Found these two and decided to try Bose 700 at first, but had to return them a day after. They caused discomfort and just after a few minutes of wearing them I found adjusting them a lot and wanting to get them off my had. After taking them off I felt some kind of relief on my ears. Never had such issues with xm3, they are very comfortable.
So I went and bought XM5 - sound is same or close so XM3, mic is great, and no comfort issues so far.
The bottom line is that you really should try each pair yourself, because no review will tell you if it suits you head, your music tastes, etc.
Also, I wouldn't trade my XM3 for any of these if not for the mic quality.

Rocking the Bose NC 700 in Soapstone. Beautiful color honestly! I'm using a costum EQ because they have a peak around 6K which makes them sound a bit off but since made that change it's like I have a new Headphone and it's awesome.

@@lars5727 Sorry for the late reply... As I said i listen to them with my personal EQ but the bass was never the issue. For me the Bass is enough. I would describe the Bass as "suficient to be fun" and pleasent. I can only remember one or two occasions when I felt like more Bass would be better. I must say that I am no Basshead though. I don't listen to Rap or Hip Hop. The Bose are good for good for Pop music and other types of musik that have singers and instruments like Rock etc.

@@nishkarmaharaj9505 sorry for the late reply 😅. But i'll get straight into it. So inside the Bose App I left the 3-band-Equalizer on 0 for all. I didn't touch the Bose Equalizer. Instead i downloaded a third party 10 band EQ called Flat Equalizer - Bass Booster by the company Beat Blend Laps (The icon is white with 3 redish sliders). This one is only available on Android unfortunately.
I like it because it activates automatically this sound profile if i connect my headphones to my phone.
I prefer flat sound and tried to make them sound as neutral as possible. These are the values of my EQ:
      -3,5 db @ 31 Hz
      -4,5 db @ 62 Hz
      -5,0 db @ 125 Hz
      -4,3 db @ 250 Hz
      -4,0 db @ 500 Hz
      -5,0 db @ 1k Hz
      -9,5 db @ 2k Hz
      -9,0 db @ 4k Hz
      -5,0 db @ 8k Hz
      -2,5 db @ 16 Hz
It's a minus infront of all numbers. This makes the headphones a bit more quiet but other than this will make your headphones sound better.
I have a pair of Devialet Phantom II and tried to make the Bose Nc 700 sound as close as possible to the Phantoms which have an excellent sound.
      I hope it helps

I was surprised by how much better the Sony did than the Bose in your test when cars were going by (and the test with the fan).
I've got the Bose nc700 (black) and also Sony WHXM3. I like the Bose a lot, they're light and comfy for me, with a better fit over my ears. It sounds like the WH5 that you tested is quite a bit better than the WH3.
I like the Bose nc700 for listening to when cooking when I need to hear the sound of things cooking. Also, I prefer it for audiobooks and spoken material. The WFXM3 is much bassier and it sounds like Sony have continued with that.
A key thing I like about the Bose is you press the button and it turns on (or off). The Sony WHXM3 you have to keep pressing the button (the Edifier stax Spirit s3 is even worse for needing to press buttons for longer and its app is appalling, though sound is very good).
One feature I like a lot with the Sony WHXM3 is the NFC touch to pair, a shame Sony removed that on the xm4 and xm5.

I have both but I like the Sony's sound qualities better. Though Sony has a common issue with intermittent feedback (whistling sound) after long periods of use. It's caused by moisture (from sweat) apparently. It disappears after you turn it off and let it dry up after a few hours.

Great review and sound clip comparisons. I think if you could combine the two of them you would have something. What jumped out at me was on the android jazz, the Sony's were warm, but listen to the piano on both. The Sony's sound more muddy, while you can clearly hear a cleaner sound of that piano. But the Sony has that bass on other clips that the Bose doesn't. I would say to buy one based off the type of music you listen to most.

With factory settings Bose is almost always better for classical music than almost any other brand. But Sony just has superior EQ settings and has better response in lower frequencies. If you like to only listen to classical, Bose is the way to go, if you like to mix in all kinds Sony is superior.

The Bose 700s are just so much clearer and more accurate; it's not even a contest. You can hear it in every sample, but it's most pronounced in the Hard Rock. The Sony's smaller drivers mix the midrange and bass to produce a "louder" sound, but they sacrifice the true sound of the music. The Bose simply are FAR more accurate and clear than the Sony Xm5s. Sony reduced its driver size from 40 mm to 30 mm and you can hear the difference. With the Bose 700s you can hear each instrument DISTINCTLY, apart from the others. The XM5s mash the lows, the mids and the highs altogether. It really is a matter of physics, you cannot reduce the speaker size by 25% and improve the speaker sound. That's why audiophile speakers are HUGE. Sony did greatly improve the ANC on the XM5s, I give them credit for that, but their audio quality sucks if you want to hear music accurately like it was recorded.
Momentum is putting out a new set of headphones with 60 hours of battery life and 42 mm drivers. THOSE will be the headphones to test, because they could become the number one best headphones available. We will see. Typically Momentum headphones have great sound but their app and user interface on the headphones themselves is not that great. Hopefully, Momentum has corrected these issues.

i think the bose sounds better and is better balanced, but the Sony's mic's especially outside were noticeably better. I have the bose UC 700, and my experience has been worse than using built in bluetooth with the intel ax200 wifi/bt chip.
the UC adapter constantly clicks and pops at different periods, especially when connected to 2 devices. as a result, i just resorted to built in bluetooth and it was better. The UC adds an automatic connection, so there is no fumbling with bluetooth or turning it on/off again etc.
neither however work simultaneously with their mics in windows during gaming and discord for example. they both switch to Handsfree mode in windows and its awful and unusably bad.

Is it worth getting the XM5s over APM or NC700 if I like bass and comfort? I’ve tried both from Best Buy and I can’t make up my mind. One one hand, the APM fully support my iPhone, Apple Music and AppleTV and seamlessly switch between devices with every feature enabled. On the other, the XM5s feel more comfy and I think I like the sound a little more but I feel like I am gimped or missing out by spending my hard earned dollars on the XM5.

I bought the bose too... but the bluetooth and firmware and app are horrible. I regularly use 2 devices and for a few days the switching was seamless...but after some time they began to drop connection...so frequently. I have had to change headphones in the middle of my meetings for so many times now...I would throw them away if it weren't for the guilt of how much money I spent on these. I'll never buy bose again. The sound is really good but if I can't use it there is no point. Do you guys think the sennheiser momentums or the sonys are better?

Not so sure about Bose. I had NC700's up until 2 days ago when I forgot them in Uber and they grew wings. I have to say, in my opinion Sony takes a noticeable lead in the microphone quality. Just ordered them, will test them by the ocean when I go to walk my dog. From your demo Sony did quite a bit better.

@@DHRME Thank you brother! Wearing them right now. When I used Bose NC700 and was walking by the ocean my Mom could hear the noise, which wasn't even the waves, just noise. Sony XM5 cleaned it up completely. She kept wondering why am I walking by the ocean and she hears nothing :) Which is good. Last night I picked up a fake pair of AirPod Max's, they were a total botch job. Mom said they sounded bad. But they were fake, so it was expected. Didn't update, were stuck on the earliest firmware. So after two unsuccessful Offer up attempts, I just went on Amazon and got the same day XM5 delivery. I actually don't mind getting stuff a couple of years behind the curve. That way they get all the updates to make the experience fuller in my opinion. Very happy. Not sure about you guys, but I got a big head and AirPod Max's were kind of tight on me. I had to flex the arch to actually escape it being painful. Was even more painful with lower temperatures outside. So to sum it up, I think XM5 noise canceling is defo better on the receiving end of another party, which is good for me. They are light and the arch is soft, which fits just right on my big melon. I like that the voices are very clear and I can use the EQ to make adjustments if need be. But I've just set them to Speech EQ so far and am happy! Thank you for the wonderful video! You guys rock!
