1) Not worth countering 2) Not alone, but possible with Greninja and Gruddigon 3) You mean Dragonite? 4) Valid point, only reason to use Gengar 5) I guess Charizard is still 5th or 6th popular deck
1. Just bc Mew does not 1 shot Gengar does not mean Mew isn't good into this match up. Mew also does not get 1 shot by gengar. It comes down to first hit. 2. Once again you also don't 1 shot gryados. Why is gengar favored into stall decks. Bc you cut off there supporters? I don't look at gengar and think strong stall match up. 4. Arguably gengars best trait. Means you don't have to play around gio, Leaf and sabrina. Charzard would still lose to this deck bc Mew is why zard is unplayable. I just don't think the reasons you mentioned are strong for him being meta. If gengar was Dark then he would actually be really good. Shame they made him Psychic.
I feel like gengar has a lot more potential with the new set, pretty much everything released helps in his favor he just really needs another attack to be a great card
@@Teeeh4723or just make his ability work from the bench. Forcing him to be the active Pokemon is pretty rough. While I get that would make him op af, forcing him to be the active pokemon is pretty bad too
I use a variant deck that has Jynx and Porygon instead of Sigilyph not bc it's better, but I love using Porygon's scrying ability to my advantage combined with Mythical Slate. It takes some drawing luck to get going (and as much energy saved as possible), but the smarter you are about thinning out your deck without wasting your items, the better chances you have at a comeback. The Gengar EX-Jynx combo with Giovanni can theoretically take out Gyarados EX even after 2 potions. And it's 1 energy less than building both Gengar EXs.
8:18 for that play I would’ve not attacked to give time for the second gengar to build up and he can’t retreat so he would have to commit energy to venu instead of cel if he wants to retreat
I think that most Celebi players are just dumb, I've seen high level players throw using Celebi because of stupid plays. Never concede against Celebi players when you're losing

Love my gengar EX deck. Can feel the rage simmer through the phone as their Sabrina's/Erika's sit there in there hands. Just a suggestion, but I wouldn't sleep on normal gengar. The key difference between the two is that normal gengar makes your opponent unable to use supporter cards AFTER it's attk. That means even if Pidgeot or Victorebeel swaps your pkmn then it wouldn't matter cause the debuff was applied during the attack. Also, for one energy to do dmg and sitting at a healthy 130 *chef kiss*.

These awesome Pokemon are finally getting decent decks! 😭 We need a Blastoise deck next! I’ve been using Druddigon as a wall to build Blastoise. It’s like a less consistent Gyaradoes. Lmao
I only use slab after i used at least 2/4 of my pokeballs and professor Oak, and the pokémon i want to evolve is actually able to that turn My version of thia deck only has 1 GengarEX and a regular gengar along side the sigilyph
I think the play is to slab BEFORE you pokeball/professor bc they shuffle your deck. So whatever the slab put on bottom isn't bottom anymore (most likely)
Before you use the Slab, count how many psychic mons, Oaks, and Pokeballs you have left if in your deck. If you have more than 50% mons in your deck, then it’s a good idea to Slab now. If you have less than 50% mons, and don’t need any mons specifically, then probably wait. Slab before Ball, unless you’re looking for an Evo card, the Ball before Slab. If you have >50% mons, Slab before Oak, if you have
You get a like and comment: I’ve tried this deck 5 games in a row and just wrecked everytime. I love your content but this doesn’t work against the big 3 meta
It's bc gengar is not very good. I love the card but it's just a worse Mewtwo in most match ups. 3 Energy for 100 is awful. Yes you can take a hit. But you have no ko power. Look at every game and swap it with a mewtwo. It's clearly just a weaker less consistent version. The click baiting gets old so fast. A card can be fun to play and still not be competitive. But every video says there decks insane bc it won 5 games in a row. You could go on a win streak with a Caterpie only if you played enough games.
i run a gengar deck with one gengar ex and one regular just for some options, like if i need a bit more time to build up i can use regular genar, 130 hp 50 dmg and they can’t use supports, and only 1 energy needed. Its tanky its annoying, half the dmg but 2 less energy, and its not ex so only 1 point. It’s definitely a nice option to have
All these new perspective on decks make me wanna re roll so bad but I have a meta celebi deck and crown mew. 😭 I’ll just have to slug it out with the 2 dailies
This exact same deck could be used for alakazam too. Just swap out Gengar and his evolutions for Alakazam and his evolutions. I also prefer using x2 Drudiggons instead of x2 Sigilyph because Sigilyph becomes pretty much useless mid-late game. Drudiggon can be used for stalls and can shed some HP so Gengar can be swapped in for the KO.
