Another tip is to add more weight on your belt, in shallow water you want to have more weight so you can sit on the bottom with no effort, but make sure you are able to float not sink while on the surface. 👍 nice vid !

Thanks, mate! I’m probably weighted better for deeper dives rather than what we are diving now. Wondered if I could do better with another pound or two at our current shallow depths. Would certainly help keep my legs from floating when I hit the bottom! Thanks for the feedback! 🤙

I appreciate your efforts. I to will be transplanting to the big island in the near future. Going to be experiencing the same learning curve that you are living now. Only thing is I will be doing it at age 60. Good thing I am a young 60.

Awesome! Thankfully spearfishing is a low impact sport! Look us up after you make the move!

Make sure you know the regulations for size limits, whats in/out of season, and regulated areas. Your bottom time is fine focus more are stalking the fish. Choose a target species and study them. You'll learn how the react to you and be able to adapt your style according to the species. Thats why its best to start 3 prong first so it forces you to become a smarter hunter. 👍

Thanks, Jon! We three-pronged manini and kole for the first 4 months or so before pulling the trigger on the aimrite. Manged to get some menpachi with it on our dive just the other day! Thanks for the comments and hopefully we will see you out there diving sometime soon!

I noticed you did a few things that I think you could polish to help improve your diving. First thing is be smoother when you do your duck dive. Especially when you're in shallow waters like this, you need to be smooth and slow when heading to the bottom. Another thing would be to flatten out when you get to the bottom. I noticed you tend to start to flatten out about 3 or 4 feet off the bottom and then you kinda sit in mid water. Getting to the bottom and settling in will start to make the fish curious about you. Lastly, for the shot you took at 7:30, make sure to extend your arm and try to lock it out if you can. I noticed your gun kicked a lot more than your shot at 5:23. The recoil of your gun will affect the shaft trajectory. All in all though, looks like you guys had a blast and that's what it's all about. Dive safe!

Cheers, Dennis! Thanks for the positive feedback! We are actually headed out this morning so I’ll try to put your advice to work! Hopefully things will look smoother in the next video!
