    It may sound strange, but what i like the most about 'ditto' is the fact it sounds exactly like you feel when something or someone 'touches your soul'. And i don't mean the lyrics, but the sound itself. These 'whoo whoo hoo' feel like breathing when air gets fresher all of a sudden and this beat goes at the exact pace as your heartbeat. There are also birds chirping in the intro at the background as if spring comes to you to wake you up from long winter of loneliness. End everything is just so light and tender that you can actually understand why you would like this feeling.

      a part i literally love sm abt this song is in the background there’s this sample or lyric that goes something like “Where is my love?” right before the first verse. It honestly adds so much to the nostalgic feel and meaning of the song itself for me. Its also blends in with the dreamy synth as the lyric ends and i feel like it’s such an overlooked detail.
      There is also an echo behind the singing that blends in with the synth often and a lot of sort of faint melodies which help the nostalgic vibe. You can hear it nicely when they say “Oh say it, Ditto” in the chorus

    I don’t see why people discredit the talent of people they don’t like. The same people calling her a p*do (she’s weird, but there’s no proof she’s sexually attracted to children lol) and saying she’s overrated and had no impact on kpop are the same people who praise all the concepts she worked on in a video about how SM fell off after she left.

    The song is healing . The first time I saw the video I just sat there in silence when I saw the end and then side B and I had to process my entire life

    I will say that Ditto Side B is the only Kpop music video to make me cry, so do with that what you will🥲. Shit’s life-changing.

    Ditto is a healing song in my point of view, it did heal me by crushing my heart since the first time I saw the MV, and I had to delete the song from all my playlists, being aware of it being one of the best Newjeans tracks, like, every time I revisited the MV I would just start crying, and no other video has ever done that, I consider myself a very positive person, and I think what made Ditto a song that touched me so deep in my heart was the fact that it kind of revealed my biggest fear, losing my friends, like it just went and grabbed that feeling from my subconscious, that, and all the deep meaning behind the relationship between idols and fans that the song and MV has is what really made Ditto one of or maybe the best songs not in just K-POP, but in general for me, and believe me, I don't have favorites or biases of any kind in anything, Ditto is just something else man... I really could go on and on with this, but I think I made my point.

    Great video. This is the song that hooked me into NewJeans, Hyein's voice at the beginning was really different reminded me of like indie alternative bands rather than kpop. I also liked how you mentioned Timbaland as a huge influence to 250 because that's exactly what a new jeans sound reminds me of.

  • @Haiirogrey
    @Haiirogrey 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    Really love this kind in depth of explanation and analysis, you delve into the real aspect on why Newjeans are different and how others attempt to replicate fail to capture the essence lot of casual enjoyed even k-pop enthusiast don't touch this aspect to your level.
    as non k-poper, in my eyes lot of NJ haters just discredit their differentness as just a trendy things or tries to be different for the sake of different or even a means to hide their lacks of actual talent behind their (for lack of better words) gimmick, but in a lot of aspect it's really using uncommon approach and experimental aspect that safe to say obscure and against industry standard. Yet their basic core skill like singing,dancing, performance and visual still there and not to be shunned and shielded by their novelty.
    Keep it up! I maybe nobody and just 1 random subscriber, but I hope your channel become big enough and keep deliver this kind of enrichment!

    why are some of nj fans hating on mhj , you do realise she fought hard for newjeans to debut , hybe literally wanted to scrap and cancel their debut , shes the only person in that company who cares about them , the moment she steps down hybe will throw nj to the dungeons and turn them to fromis 2.0 , and you'll be seeing them every 18 month's until their contracts end , and btw you're making some serious allegations against that woman , dont throw that word around just casually

    • @wavzone
      @wavzone 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

      They didn't want to cancel their debut, they wanted to push it back so they could debut Lesserafim since they had Sakura/Chaewon. MHJ didn't want to add Sakura to her group because she was "too old", so HYBE decided to debut her & Chaewon since they'd create bigger buzz and have a higher chance of competing against IVE and other big gg's at the time. The only reason MHJ "fought hard" for nj to debut at that time was so they could claim the "HYBE'S first gg" title. They were going to debut regardless, but MHJ wanted that name for them so she could use it to push him harder. To this day that's the only reason she's even mad about it all, because HYBE didn't let NJ become their first gg. MHJ has had everything handed to her, including her own company, trainees, budget, high paying salary *and* the top floor of the HYBE building, upon her request. She's not a helpless, poor victim. She's a greedy businessman just like everyone else in the HYBE building. You people defending her either can't read, haven't been keeping up, or are victims of false information.

    • @beaniebabybun
      @beaniebabybun 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

      @@wavzone if I may just chime in to this respectfully, the issue is more than just being the first HYBE gg. There have been promises to MHJ for this + IF the girls were going to debut or not. It seems like with the reports and the press conference, there wasn't solid YES to NewJeans debuting even. As we know with the kpop industry, you can be a trainee all your life and think you're close to debuting but other things can stand in the way of that and a lot of it is management and business.
      We have a multi label system under HYBE that by virtue is to support these labels but also let them run themselves independently and creatively. This is not limited to ADOR but all labels. But given the claims, HYBE is butting in a little too hard and it can be restricting to the creative side of things as well as with promotions and such, along with the other groups from other labels under them. We know this story all too well, not just with kpop but just business vs creatives in any field.
      Now, yes HYBE does have reason as a company to protect itself and its shares of course, that's all just typical business yk. But does it give it right to abuse its powers over its labels after promising that they can all develop their own projects. And I'm pretty sure it would be on paper but we don't have access to those contracts. We as the public are also just left with piecing things together through articles and what people often forget, think pieces from people on the internet. I will not absolve myself of this as I write this but I make it clear that these are my thoughts and just for discussion's sake.
      Anyways. We can pull up the receipts from since debut era that HYBE thought that NewJeans wouldn't be a hit. They thought that the sound wasn't that interesting and as we know the NJ sound was different from everyone else and didn't follow the conventional kpop formula at the time of their debut.
      Their debut was well thought out and it was a hit and their success over the coming months leading up all the way to Get Up era was something that they probably didn't fully expect. And so yes, they made a lot of money. Which is why we see the girls living well and are taken care of. And that's also why we see them spending and investing a lot in all aspects of their group
      My thoughts now are that not everything was "handed" to MHJ but there were things discussed in a business stand point. As I mentioned, the multi label system by virtue is to support these acquired labels so that they can focus on developing and producing their groups (this is not limited to just creatives but also in the talks with their timeline and concepts). If there is major interference from HYBE going as far as dictating plans and such, then doesn't that defeat the purpose and goes against what was promised and signed on?
      From what I've read from articles, MHJ has never said about not wanting to debut Sakura. It's just that Sakura was not part of the vision for her group. And I don't recall her ever calling Sakura "too old" so I'd like to read some sources on that. There was already a set plan for a group and adjusting to what was being shoved at her would change everything. It's like you have a detailed report that you've worked on for weeks and a day or two before the presentation, an entirely new part is being requested for you to include. But this is like x10 difficulty in this situation.
      Just to be clear, I'm not attacking you, I just wanted to chime in for a discussion because to say that MHJ's sole reason why she's mad is that her group didn't debut as the first HYBE gg as promised... it's overlooking the bigger issues presented. Which gets even more complicated as we know.
      I don't exactly know how this issue is going to go and there have been more reports popping up which does make me raise my eyebrow given the timeline of it being released and done. But yeah, we can only hope that this does come to a peaceful, fair, and justified resolution.
      NewJeans has so much more to offer and entering their 2nd year like this is stressful and the girls don't deserve their dreams be derailed.

    i dont really care about the whole mhj vs hitman bang thing but riddle me this, if the person who conceptualized nwjs' core concept is out, who the heck would head the creative team of nwjns and think of new materials for nwjns for their future comebacks? hybe would place their own people inside ador, then what? do you guys really think that the unique concept that nwjns has grown to be known for would continue as it is without a clear path and direction?
    cause belift with hybe's 100% backing(and with the intention to crush nwjns) certainly thought they could replicate what nwjns did and look what happened.

    I haven't watched the video yet but I think what made ditto special is how its portrayal of dealing with loneliness whilst discovering who you are as you teeter between childhood and adulthood resonated with a new generation of kpop stans in a similar way to how Itzy's Wannabe did during the start of the pandemic in 4th gen. Furthermore, what's significant about both songs is that you don't have to look up their lyrics to understand what kind of feeling they're trying to convey as hearing it in the groups' delivery of their lines is enough. It makes me excited for when a song as culturally significant in kpop will appear in 6th gen, how will it sound and how it will reinterpret the theme of the loneliness of growing up.

    12:15 a lot of these are things loona have done. its interesting how kpop stans and this video completely ignore their existence but mention every other group (triple S even, funny enough, their creative director just redid what he already tried with loona). they've done with retro footage style music videos with retro aspect ratios (rain 51db, ill be there, around you), mvs following the girls around town (my sunday, my melody), story based/narrative music videos, heavy lore, pre-debut releases, nostalgia concept, the school girl concept with similar creepy undertones (love4eva).
