i personally think asap isn’t a metaphor other than showcasing the girls’ youth (i believe they’re supposed to nymphs which are known for their youth & beauty) it’s also very similar to a previous project mhj worked on which was f(x)’s electric shock. the concept photos depict the girls wearing animal masks & being chased by a teddy bear.

Its theorised this is about their then situation with HYBE at the time... with the hybe/ador situation at the time newjeans were in a literal and metaphorical 'car crash' moment in their careers.. just like a car crash everyone watches on but does nothing to help, the animals, inanimate objects like cctv, truck refusing to pick them up and peoples perspectives (notice when they dance in the crowd the people stand there totally still uninterested... just watching) its meant to show the world just watching on to see how their situation 'pans' out (the drone camera is literally 'panning' in and out of them all the time)... newjeans themselves try their best to just have fun while they look for 'help'.. they eventually find it.. but even then their car being towed is metaphorically showing they are still here for now but their 'situation' simply has a temporary band aid and is still broken. The ducks are prominent throughtout the whole video and its said they signify how hybe views newjeans as the'ugly ducklings' of their girl groups. HYBE then started region blocking and deleting comments from the official video which adds fuel to this theory as well. oh i forgot the lyrics themselves.. its about being happier after leaving a 'toxic' relationship... on surface level you'd assume they are talking about a boy... but its possible they are reffering to hybe. (the little demon in their storyline)

sorry to comment again but i thought of a theory for the asap mv. So the daytime could represent what’s on camera, like newjeans running around, having picnics, and just having fun in their ”own” fantasy world by being fairies (notice how i put own in quotes because I’ll talk about that more) but when nighttime hits it gets all creepy with the bunnies watching them and stuff and i think that could be a metaphor for what’s happing behind closed doors. how most people know about the horrors that is the kpop industry that isn’t shown and how the creepy bunny(s) is watching them like staff members and other people. though on camera the staff aka their mascots can seem harmless cute little bunnies. omg i love this video and theories but i feel like the how sweet mv has a deeper meaning because I watched a video by choujimi and during his explanation i and an another commenter thought about the whole min heejin drama because about how all the people weren’t paying attention to newjeans (technically the animals were but they’re not people) like when the truck passed by them and it didn’t pick them up and how they danced in the middle of town but everybody walked past them until they made a circle around of them but everyone didn’t look interested in them. then with all the drama that was going on how nobody cared about newjeans the girls in the middle of drama nor noticed them. Also the lyrics like how it’s about a toxic person you’re leaving that and how good it feels metaphorical person could be hybe and how hybe would keep calling them back. With cool with you i'm fairly certain newjeans are representing the '9 muses' who follow cupid around with dance and song... they also likely reported cupids actions to aphrodite... if you notice in the video cupid looks almost scared when she notices newjeans watching her but she goes ahead and gives up her divinity in front of thrm anyway.. almost like she knew with them watching there would be consequences.. even atthe end when she goes to see them she looks at the with contempt.. further suggesting newjeans ratted her out lol. Plus it makes much more sense as the 9 muses are part of Greek Mythology and also associated with cupid.. Angels makes much less sense as its very generic and nothing really to do with greek mythology or cupid.

omg i love this video and theories but i feel like the how sweet mv has a deeper meaning because I watched a video by choujimi and during his explanation i and an another commenter thought about the whole min heejin drama because about how all the people weren’t paying attention to newjeans (technically the animals were but they’re not people) like when the truck passed by them and it didn’t pick them up and how they danced in the middle of town but everybody walked past them until they made a circle around of them but everyone didn’t look interested in them. then with all the drama that was going on how nobody cared about newjeans the girls in the middle of drama nor noticed them. Also the lyrics like how it’s about a toxic person you’re leaving that and how good it feels metaphorical person could be hybe and how hybe would keep calling them back. other things i noticed: the spiders in the music video are animated with coca-cola in them. also there’s a dandelion growing from one of the animations (looks also like a carrot) and one also growing from Haerin’s head. i will say, i think they understood how it would look for them to sing “how sweet it taste now that im without you” in the performances while they miss a member. i doubt hyein hurt herself, i think she’ is just suppose to represent youth who are being victimized. the producers understand not everyone will look this deep into it or see the symbolisms and associations because they are so specific . this gives them great plausible deniability but i DO think there is a very unsettling message in this music video, one that is very hard to explain so only a few will see it and much less will communicate it well
