I have NEVER seen a better highlight reel. The creativity, the athleticism, the crowd involvement, the reckless abandon to play the game like no other, and the blinding talent to pull it off. Sheer entertainment and a genuine original!
Yes. He hasn't even won an ATP 1000 Master Series so who the hell cares about anything else. Maybe if he walked normally without hunching his back like a 100 year old senile old man then maybe he can win something valuable. Is that okay with you James or would you like more?
Joseph Rase ....no, that was very educational ...if he didn't hunch his back maybe he would win more, absolutely brilliant by you. have you thought of coaching ,I think you have what it takes
Kyrgios, without a doubt, is very entertaining. He brings something different from the monotonous baseline grinding that has become so common in today's game. I love watching the guy play.
Great things happen when you just play tennis up to your fab abilities & forget about those dark, destructive things rattling round inside your head. Inventive, out of body level tennis Nick, a pure joy to watch tennis played at such a level, that so few in the world are capable of reaching. Bloody well done mate. So sweet, sublime.
Future of tennis is fake outs and cat & mouse games. Everyone has trained for power baseline game. Now, Kyrgios comes in and makes them guess on every shot and plays to a different script making them confused and losing points.
I don't know if it's genius, but he makes the most of his two world class skills: power and soft hands. He lacks stability (mental from time to time and in terms of his physical game with his strokes within rallies) but when he plays the way he does, that doesn't matter because he keeps it fun for himself and he keeps his opponents off balance. A good way to counter this for power baseliners is to just bore the shit out of him. Keep the balls deep, make predictable but decent choices. I think Medvedev's tactical plan in the final pretty much succeeded, he just wasn't there for the big points and lost 2 tie breakers.
I am not a tennis fan. But always though that the bunch of them professionals were idiots sometimes. They trade for 1 minute with powershots, lose unnecessary effort and points by not playing it easy. In many occasions I was thinking that they could just send the ball near the net and make it bounce twice, as the opponent is like 7 meters away.
That point at 2:33 Is why we all salivate over the possibility of Kyrgios putting in 100% every point. He has the ability to be the best in the world and that isn't hyperbole as demonstrated by his head to head record against the big 3
So happy for Nick, he’s been brilliant all week, amazing shotmaking, entertaining, great to watch & he stayed focused & motivated as well. Hope this form & attitude continues as a happy, engaged Nick is so good for tennis!

Reananda Hidayat Permono because he’s pure box office. I honestly wouldn’t go out of my way to watch any tournaments less than a masters but kyrgios makes me wanna watch first rounds of a 250 just for him
This guy is good for the game, no doubt about it. One of the few players I’d pay good money to watch cause one thing is certain: you will be entertained. If he can cut down a little on the swearing and aggressive unsportsmanlike behaviour (which I admit is asking for a lot) and find a balance that will enable him retain his personality, he’d be the next RF and RN, loved and adored by all. Let’s face it everyone loves a bit of crazy and madness otherwise life will be pretty boring. We can’t all dot the i’s and cross the t’s and sit pretty, spine straight and knees crossed. Having said that, respect for the game, the fans, and his opponents must be observed. He’s got the skills, the entertainment value, the star factor he only needs to learn to be a bit more in control of his mouth and his body language. This tournament shows he can achieve all that. Jolly good show, young man. Well done.
Honestly, I like what he does because I'm sick and tired of this whole mannerism shenanigans going on in the tennis world where people insist that there is "the right way" to play the game. His mixture of typical strong serve and baseline plays with additional fake shots, underhand serve and funky net plays really add variety to the game and I hope some of other players can adopt his attitude and don't simply play their games out with grindy baseline strategies
cck3 - You've been reading my thoughts. Until relatively recently a 'tweener' was frowned upon by every single Australian tennis commentator. Those who used to be tennis players themselves were the worst. Enter Kyrgios. He's been around for what - 5 or 6 years now? Even NOW I hear mumbles of displeasure when Nick does a tweener. When asked why the answer is something like 'not in the tradition of the game' . We might as well be in church.
Can't agree with you more, I think Baseline Game nowadays is quite boring especially if both players wouldn't take a risk at all. that's why we see some "Backhand duel" a lot in highlight and it's very disappointing.
Hope he will change his mentality thanks to this win. Kyrgios has quality but is distracted by entertaining the spectators, sometimes he did wrong things instead of easier ones...but we need something like him in court making all more exciting and less boring
Not true, Kyrgios was brilliant all week, amazing shots every match, so entertaining & great to watch, he’s good for tennis, unlike so many of the robotic baseline players that are yawn feast. I’d rather watch Kyrgios any day over those players!
