I enjoy your videos, watched 3 tonight, and Im not yet a subscriber, but in a few seconds, I will be. From Johannesburg, South Africa, I will soon be the proud owner of a 2019 Husky 701, but I need to wait a few months for them to arrive. Cant wait! Will definitely be doing the Rotweiller airbox, and SAS removal etc. Keep up the great videos!
Hi. Not so long ago i got brand new 690 enduro R in 2021 and got first oil change done by KTM (600 miles after break in period). I will be doing my own oil/filter change soon and wanted to ask if the amount of gunk/shaving are less in future oil changes. Also wanted to know what mileage you had with urs Husqvarna 701 and how did you like it in a long run? Thanks!
1 year later BUT. From what I read online people say 200 miles is the max range for the enduro. Obviously, that depends on how hard you run the bike. I personally don't like to go over 100 miles without getting gas.
Fantasic video thank you. You have given me confidence to do an service on my 690 between dealer services. At my first service the dealer said the fuel filter must also be changed. Did you do this too?
hello I checked my biked oil and my bike is leveled and it was pretty low, I just need to top it off. I am at 100 miles. How long did u leave it running and cool out. When your oil level went low again is that normal?
mine currently clocked at 6500km, the 2nd oil change was 4500, from the service sticker. It was 4900 when i bought it. The recommended oil is 10-60 , is it ok if uses like yours 10-50? and right now i van only see tiny oil through the sight glass (approx 2000km since last service). I plan to top it up for now until 9500km oil change interval as written on the sticker
@@motoken yeah, my bike burns oil so quick now. But im gonna have it check again incase it still hast flow down to the sump. If oil brand never an issues, i would try other with thicker oil, 15w i think
I just did my first oil change at 25 miles. With the amount of metal shavings I found in the oil and the screens I wouldn’t wait for 600 miles for that first oil change.
I honestly have no idea...I have never used Bel Ray oils....I would be leaning towards Motorex more since I have been using it with my KTM 690 and I've used it plenty in the past.
Both are good oils. I used to run Motorex 10/60. I now run 15w/60 Motul 300v. It’s better oil. I noticed it helped a tad with the notchy shifting in the 701. It’s also bright green so it makes it a little easier to spot in the oil glass.
i have the same bike also- i have 509 miles on her, i also will be doing all my own service, just keep a record in a log book, at least that way you will have something to show the new owner when you sell it.
Thanks voor de vid, really helpfull. I got a few questions though, do you need to replace the oil filter after you have broken in the engine (after 600 miles) do you need to replace the oil filter? I was told only replacing the old oil with new oil is sufficient. How did you exactly clean the oil screens?
Seems like my oils low when kick stand is Down it’s at the bottom of my circle, is that the correct way to check ? Or do I level out my bike like I was sitting on it then check ???
@@martin_11 In theory, synthetic oil kind of lubes the engine too well and doesn't allow things to break in properly. In practice, with the newer type cylinder sleeves they have on motorcycles now, it should not really matter that much, maybe the first 1000kms
@@elainehoodies I went for fully synthetic. Acc. to my engine builder, one could opt to use mineral during break-in, but with newer cylinder coatings, wether that's usefull or not is up for debate.
@@rolandpeelen3271 thanks Roland. @@motoken And 1 Quart = 0.946 liters. It's important that American's know that a quart isn't exactly a Liter. When dealing with ml (milileters) of oil as in my 2013 Husqvarna TE 511, you need to be this precise. I have the 701 as well where you can eyeball the sight glass and get away with it. Not so on the TE 449 or 511. Great videos @KenMoto Keep up the great work!
The bike on its side stand will give a false low reading. Put the bike on a stand or at least hold it level while inspecting the sight window for a true reading.
the only way to check the oil level is when the bike is upright. there's no instance where you check the oil level while its on a side stand. that's already a given.

look at all the oil filters/screens, this is why this engine will outlast all the others!! I love KTM/Husky
So is it exactly the same bike as the ktm 690 smc? Or which is better? I'm debating this bike it's gorgeous
thanks for the video man. I got the 2020 and love it.
i just got the 2021 690 love the color scheme on the new one

Thanks! Appreciate it!
@@BlueRage That is very odd. i can't think of what would cause that other than a loose oil screen or oil plug.
