    I really liked the colored pencil piece. It’s not as bad as you think, but I understand why you feel that way as an artist.

    Hey there! I’m looking to join an art school but I’m in my senior year of hs and I don’t know how to prepare I only have like few pieces up till now which I want to include in my portfolio… can u help me out on how many art pieces usually a portfolio requires and general advice on how I should go about it?… I’m quite terrified of it cause what if everything goes wrong..

    • @billierose3574
      @billierose3574  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Of course! I go over some tips in the video towards the end. For the portfolio it depends on the school but it could be anywhere from 12-20 pieces. Something helpful to do is to look up other videos like this one to see what other people did for their portfolios- the more recent the better! I promise it will be ok, it’s a stressful process (esp for me since I’m a slow artist) but you’ll get through just fine ! If you have any other specific questions you can DM on Instagram @labillierose 💟

    hi!! i’m a freshman in hs and i want to go to an art school, do you have any tips on how to prepare to make my portfolio throughout the years?

    • @billierose3574
      @billierose3574  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      first of all proud of u for thinking that far ahead ! All I can think of is just to make art lol. When you build your portfolio you want to have lots of pieces to choose from so you don’t feel like you’re just scraping together anything you have- that’s kind of what I did and it was not great. Other than that practice some of the “boring” parts of art like still life’s and anatomy so you can explore more creative projects with a greater skill, hope this helped ! 💖

    do you think your academics had any part in your acceptance for the art schools? i have a 3.4 gpa but ive taken all honors classes and will have taken around 10 aps by the time i graduate. does that matter at all lol

    • @billierose3574
      @billierose3574  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think it does play an important role, but your portfolio holds more weight- I would try to look up the specific schools you were considering and see if there are any specific things it's looking for (ie. good grades, variety in medium, or ur artistic process). Also please take care of yourself 10 aps is crazy my love! If ur down for the challenge go for it but honestly I wouldn't go too hard! You seem in a good spot atm

    Do you have any advice on the parsons supplemental essays?

    • @billierose3574
      @billierose3574  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Make it as personable as possible and try to appeal to the school's values! On the parsons about page, they seem most interested in innovation, creativity, and community. Looks like one of the '23 essays is about a social issue that's valuable to you, maybe try to do some research into if Parsons has done anything around a similar issue and mention it. Giving those little references makes your essay seem more authentic. Hope that helps at all!

    hi ! i hope to transfer to massart for fall 2024 n i wanna ask how the portfolio n over overall application process was 🫶🏼 this is my dream school so im rly excited 🏃🏽‍♀️

    • @billierose3574
      @billierose3574  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was relatively straightforward! I did my application through the common app and my portfolio through something called slideshow. Remembering the dates of pieces and describing them was probably the most difficult part for me, I also remember messing around with the order of my portfolio a lot. The only other thing was that I'm someone who works slowly so it was difficult to find pieces I felt were good enough and met the minimum requirement. Massart freshman year is major-less so it's all very experimentative and broad and I think they look for that in Freshman portfolios as well. Whereas transfer portfolios are definitely expected to be major-based, showing off your strengths in whatever you'd like to do.

      @@billierose3574 ouhh, i also work slowly even tho i had basically a whole yr to plan 🧍🏽‍♀️ anddd another question, what should b put in the resume + list of activities ? dumb question but i lowkey don’t got much to add to those so i was hoping to get some ideas yk 💀😅

      @@melonball_ I didn't have much to put there either, I was in a GSA leadership position in middle and high school for a bit so I put that but honestly that was it. If you've done any work or volunteer work I'd mention that, especially if it's art-related otherwise my only other tip is to really stretch and exaggerate anything you have done lol
