    Great review Pony boy ! Anybody that doesn't think this car is fast enough, sporty enough, or a great value has probably not driven it. Probably also never owned an Acura before. Ditto, if they are also comparing this to the Accord; and also simply kidding themselves. Additionally, if you are one of those folks complaining about the infotainment system, then you just dont get it, and you are too much into the tech and not enough of a driver. Great car, great review; looks excellent in this white color.

      Too much into tech? My guy how is Honda out performing in terms of interior and argumentatively exterior for a non luxury brand? Thats disgraceful by "luxury" standards.

    • @daver1161
      @daver1161 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I find the dual screen infotainment to be quite luxurious. I can pull up a map to my destination, while changing the music the "Pony" by Ginuwine while Raze's mom services my shift-knob.

  • @trip66
    @trip66 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have this car (and love it), but one thing I found out that if you put it is S+ and switch to paddle shifters, you can redline it and it will still shift itself automatically (I guess as a safety), but only when it redlines (all other shifting is still manual). I took off on a nice straight road and just let it redline and shift itself. I hit the top speed of 140 MPH rather fast, and just let it shift itself without busying myself to check my RPMs. It went as far as 5th gear to 140 MPH. That is the top speed, gas pedal was flat on the ground.
    If you put it in S or S+ with out doing paddle shifters, it won't redline itself, and you won't accelerate as fast.

      Look at the 2019 Acura RDX that is how the design will be like the current generation has been around since 2014 and back in 2014 that was the latest tech in the 2017 New York Auto Show the introduced the new front, the redesign will probably be for the 2020 Model Year and will be reviled in spring of 2019 we most likely she the same front but maybe new tail lights and a new interior can not wait

    Impeccable review, as always, Drew! I absolutely love the new front fascia on the Acura TLX. I always liked Acura's beak grille design, but I am really digging their new diamond inspired grille. All in all, this refresh has definitely put the Acura TLX back on the charts in my book. Keep up the great work! 👍🏽

    I recently purchased the 2019 A-spec. After driving both the 4cylinder and 6..the 4cyl feels quicker and much more efficient due to the dual clutch transmission. If you're interested, go with the 4!!

      I agree, tested both and the i4 Aspec feels much lighter and quicker with the dual-clutch tranny. The ZF9 transmission on the V6 is awful in comparison, the slow shifts and hesitations was very frustrating and they were both 2018 models. I have the same V6 engine in my MDX but with the 6-speed and it's awesome.

    As an Acura owner they are nice, ask me about maintenance I have alot more to add on. But in essence what you have you have is Japanese race engine wrapped in leather. Get one if you can.

    • @alanpena3249
      @alanpena3249 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      How costly is the maintenance?

    • @styleemusic
      @styleemusic 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alanpena3249 if I compare with my Accord, the parts are pricey. e.g my power steering canister had a leak I was quoted at $600 with labor by the Honda dealership to replace. However these are super reliable cars, you don't have to worry much about maintenance I.e. if you take care of it and don't beat it to death. Just regular scheduled maintenance. The engine is proven, the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine is the same 205hp one that has been around for 10yrs + in previous gens, so it's well refined.

  • @Senor_3210
    @Senor_3210 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Nice review! I understand this is the A-Spec version. Do you have experience with the base 4cyl? If so would you recommend it over a Mazda 6 signature? My price cap is just under $36k. I'm always hearing the 6 is a class above. What do you think?

    • @landocalrisian2014
      @landocalrisian2014 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't speak for a Mazda 6 but I do own a 4 cyl 2015 TLX and I love the power it has and the handling over my former Altima. I love driving it in sport mode. I only use premium bc I want the performance to be there when I need it but it drives really nice Senor Dario.

    • @josephsmith594
      @josephsmith594 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's hard to find reviews of the 4 cylinder - I have a 2018 TLX 2.4 Elite (Canada). Leather seats, ELS stereo, every bell and whistle, just 4 cylinders and not A-Spec, so no low profile tires and not the stiffer shocks and steering, which is all the A-Spec is, plus an extra sway bar - fantastic value since its way cheaper than the 6 cylinder, and at least 10K cheaper than any luxury car in its class with the same options. I absolutely love it, and the 8-speed dual clutch transmission makes it jump like a manual when you gun it. The ELS stereo sounds really good too, but still not as good as aftermarket hi-fi, and the subwoofer is a weak disappointment that I will be replacing.

      The 9 speed transmission from Europe will be fine. It’s just that the 8 speed dual clutch in the 4 cylinder might have problems. All the in house design honda/Acura transmission historically are not long lasting.

      I think the accord looks like dad's family car, big and boring. I wasn't ready to buy dad's family car, so I bought the TLX. I guess if I had enough money I might have bought an Audi A4, but it was ALOT more money for the same features. Every time I saw the Accord in the showroom, I thought "I'm not going to be proud driving that." I feel like a boss in my new TLX - it looks much more impressive in real life than in video btw. I was a bit nervous about the looks, really on the fence, but when I drove it the feeling evaporated. The interior is REALLY luxurious, and it is REALLY quiet inside, and there is tons of room to stretch your arms and legs. The tan perforated milano leather is gorgeous, an obvious class above the Accord.

    The 2019 accord touring 2.0 is actually quicker than the acura tlx with the v6. Also it looks better,sportier. Features and materials are just as nice. This car needs a huge update. I wouldnt even call it a luxury car. Just a nice sporty sedan. That is only better than the accord touring in the top advanced trim.

      U lost your mind. The rear of accord is ugly af. Deal breaker. Interior design is not that important because your eyes will be on the road 99%. No one is going to sit and stare at the interior! Its kind of obsolete to have a pretty interior or not. Its all about practicality. Thats how i see it.

  • @Caldwell1234

    I mean what is the logic behind Acura deciding to go with that obsolete dash/infotainment dual screen,especially with that sharp, bad a-- exterior ?Im baffled but who am I ? I would not buy it based on the interior design period.Then to top it off no remote engine start or heads-up display as found on the Honda Accord.

    So disappointed. I was looking forward to the four cylinder sharing the same engine as the 2019 RDX along with the V6 making a jump to turbo.
    And that interior should’ve been updated! The RDX again got it right.

Other than the grill, I think it’s essentially the same car compared with the ‘19. As for my husband’s old TL , she just keeps on going!
