I paid more than you for a new set. It was my first star wars lego Set since I started building bricks a couple of years ago. When I realised what I got for my money, I couldn't believe it. LEGO is really trying to find out how far they can go before the very last fanboy leaves their ship. The details, bricks quality and the construction are quite alright, don't get me wrong. But this diorama is ridiculously small. The size just doesn't look good in my eyes. I opened up the left end and elongated it by MOCing a floor and back wall in similar style like the right side. Now my copy of the trench is almost twice as wide as the puny original. It's just my personal opinion, you know. I just got remembered again why I hardly buy Lego Sets anymore
This sounds like a great looking MOC. I absolutely agree with you, the sets are just way too expensive. LEGO does cool stuff but not awesome enough to pay those prices. I almost exclusively buy their sets in used condition. With a bit of patience you can find most sets for a way more sane price then. Or you can build a MOC which can look way more detailed than an official LEGO set.
