You guys are having absolutely, way and entirely too much fun. I felt like I should have been watching this on a tiny black and white portable TV (with rabbit ears, turned just so to catch TVOntario on that weird UHF dial that worked more like a radio than TV) at 2:30 am in the mid-70s. After Monty Python's Flying Circus and Elwy Yost introducing 'One Of Our Aircraft Is Missing". Had to watch that one in 30-minute increments all week long. Those were good times. You guys keep having *this* much of a good time, someone might actually start to think model railroading isn't just a crew of overly-serious grumped-out frowners in polo shirts complaining about where all the cabooses went and the multimark and the endless miles of doublestacks. They *might* just think that it's fun. Serious, crazy, 2:30am-in-the-middle-of-the-night fun. Best bit in an endless parade of them: when APT-E 'tilting guy' solemnly points at his name badge. Priceless.
Sorry I'm late, I've only JUST read the comments. It was the other way round, the LRC was developed after the APT-E but benefitted greatly from it. Not the least because Trevor Easton, who was on the APT-E team, went to Canada to work on the LRC after APD was closed down in 1976.

And here we are three years later, the APT was a massive success and we are eagerly awaiting the Stirling Single model....good times. :)
now if Hornby or Bachmann were this serious the model railways would be much more fun
