Certain body is definitely true you don’t need to have a certain body to join gaurd at my school a few years ago we had a big girl and tall and then the next year we had a girl who was 4 feet something and then this coming up year we have a tall girl on the team
I am so glad you say there is no specific gender I go to a private Christian school and the year before I joined MB they refused a guy who was amazing at color guard just because he is a guy and he was better than most of the girls too
It’s not just private schools that do this, I’ve seen many a public school limit color guard membership to girls as well and I think that’s crazy. Believe it or not, Color Guard used to be an EXCLUSIVELY male activity!
@@SpintronixGuard so did acting, men dressed up as women for plays back in Shakespeare’s time and I can’t believe that they have changed it so much my school hates when boys act and they the teachers call them thespians to provoke them
So I’m a boy and I’m going into my freshman year into high school. My classes are already chosen and band camp is over. For my sophomore year I’ve decided to join color guard because I’ve gotten inspired by my friend and by watching a color guard show at my Jr high school. This has made me want to join even more!!! Thank you
I’m trying out for my high school color guard team next week, I actually got invited to try out from the coach! I’ve never done it before so Wish me luck. xx
Lol my marching band only has 3 girls doing guard so we got to do a bit of everything. This is the first time we are having guard in over 10 years so im pretty nervous for band camp.
Especially when it comes to Varsity, I used to be in junior varsity and then this year they told me to be in Varsity it was because they didn't have a junior varsity and only starting last year I was not prepared for varsity. But did I challenge through it? Yeah! Was it hard? Yeah! Did I think that there was no shot in being in Varsity and I should just quit right then and there? Yes! But even through all that challenging hard work I mean through it and now we're having our show soon I'm terrified but I know that everyone else is
Hey, I’m thinking about joining I’m a tall freshman who hasn’t had any experience, i would love to join my school color guard. Is there anything I should be aware of when going into color guard with absolutely zero experience?
Height generally has no bearing on color guard auditions! Your instructors will be looking for someone who is excited about learning, enjoys performing, and works well with other people on a team. :)
I’m late, but In case you haven’t started, here’s a tip. Don’t expect to do everything with flags. I just joined and did my second practice yesterday, and we didn’t even touch the flag until the very end. We did a lot of stretches and dance stuff that I didn’t expect
Hello im doing color guard for high school and I just found out tryouts are tommorrow 🥲 they said no experience needed but is there anything that’d make it so you can’t get in the team?
It sounds like they are looking for people who are hard working and willing to learn! An attitude of “No I can’t do that” or an unwillingness to work with other people will probably be the only things that could stand in your way. Good luck!
@@SpintronixGuard the color guard I am going to try to get in to they combined four different middle schools into one school so they have to make eight day tryouts it’s Cadent 8th grade

Yes, one of our favorite things about guard is how inclusive it is!
This is all so true! You don’t have to have a certain body type, or any skills! It will be so worth it!
Exactly!! 🥰

You are welcome!!! Let us know how it goes!!!
I must say that being on the short side, it is a little more difficult with the 6ft pole. But i love a good challenge! 😊
There are ways around it!
Color guard really is worth it.
So true!!!
Thank you for the information I will need!! Tonight I am going to a clinic for being a color guard and join it!
Good luck!!! Enjoy yourself!!!
@@SpintronixGuard thank you! I also made the team

It is definitely not easy and it makes me mad when people say it is love your videos
Truth, and thanks for the love!!!

@@vianpik you don’t need to be flexible, trust me, I’m not flexible at all either 😂
How much does the rifle weigh
Only between 2-3lbs. On the heavier end you might have up to 4 or 5 but I tend to stay away from those if possible!
