Thanks @MrBIGTEE504 allot of work and time went into finding good and practical ways for the staff to work efficiently. Do you have any ideas we could consider to build on our current set up? the staff also use a hammer holder to keep their hammer close by to them

I'm here because I went to a hiring event at a pallet repair warehouse. It was myself and 3 other guys. The manager did a quick pre screen and said this job is not easy. He also said its equivalent to working out for 8hrs straight after mentioning after your shift you'd most likely want to go home, shower and sleep. He said the pay is .45 cents per pallet. He said his top guys are knocking out 300 to 400 or more a day.

@Timothy Simpson that’s a good rate and sounds like a nice place to work which is sometimes hard to find and always safety first!

@Timothy Simpson I did this job many years ago (mid 90's), one day one of the lads dropped an air nail gun accidentally and it tipped JUST on the edge of a table saw, enough to release the little safety trigger on the tip, and it fired a 3 inch wire nail right through his work boot into his calf.He was off for a week. I got fed up with nails going through soles of my "safety boots" thats when I got some wooden clogs
We got 33p (or 35p??) a pallet piece work (no base rate) Euro style 4 ways are slower than american 2 ways to fix. Our boss couldnt resist ANY crappy pallets, and some he bought in were real filthy rough basket cases, but on a good day I could do 150 to 180/£50/£60 a day, also bearing in mind we had to work up a stock of spare boards for the repairs by dismantling crap in our own time. Its a young lads game, After 20 years of "pallet bashing" you'd almost certainly end up with artheririts

I have nothing to do with this business but I came across a job ad on Indeed where I saw the employer saying "a typical pallet repair worker repairs 350-400 pallets a day". That seemed like a lot given the work day was listed as 8 hours. So, I came here to see what does the repair includes.

Hi xl777Ix the numbers you saw are possible. We dont post repair expectations on our ads but 350-400 is possible but also misleading since only a small percentage can reach 400+ in a day unless there is allot of automation to make the repair easier

My business partner and I have a poorly designed work area and together we did 120 in 8 hrs. We also included removing the pallets from the trailer, loading them, and breaking down scrap for the repairs. Looks like we need to up our game.

Hi Ben, yes they are - I agree however the staff work on a piece rate system and they feel another 'tool' slows them down to much :(
