    u need to use the correct software for them as they also support encrypt , not the same as 777 or 888 cos the batt is lower voltage on them ?

    My Baofeng BF-888s will routinely transmit at 2.5 watts with full battery charge.

    Where do you get this antennas from ? The aftermarket ones you put on them

    Hi mate, I've recently got a couple of these thanks to Ebay, I am interested in fitting your upgraded aerials, what are they and how much do they improve the RX/TX?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert, I got them off eBay, just generic dual band aerials, they're unbranded and I can't remember the link now. The RX is significantly improved on the stock antenna. TX is better but conditions and terrain are the main factors.

      Would these do the job?

      Yes but be careful, the antenna base might be too wide for the hole in the radio case meaning it might not screw on properly

    nice review!! I have BF-888 and they are great. btw I program ch 16 and it works just fine. Just cant use FM Radio. I like the 7.2 v battery. Maybe better power output?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alec Wasserman I'll check the output on the battery and see if it is true. The output power of the radio is only 2w Alec. Cheers

    its bs that you have to program channel 16 if you let it open you can scan the channel,when you set it on in the menu in the offical program for baofeng 888

    I bought two of those cheap antenna off the bay and found that the do not work with the Baofeng 888s. The reason is that the Baofeng 888s antenna has an extended thread, the cheap replacement antennas I bought have a short thread. Fortunately they do fit the UV82 and the 5R

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mike Chapman That's strange mike, I thought they were a universal thread. All the best.

      See Miklor website www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Technical.php for notes titled 'SMA-F Antenna Extended Threads' , there is a good photo there whch shows what I mean.

      I removed approximately 1mm from the plastic so that they 'seat' deeper, now they work fine.

    We want to use 10 of these for our supra cruises this summer. I'm lost with the programming bit. How do I set all ten up to work together on the same channel? Thanks

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Harry Moore You just programme them all the same mate. Very easy with the cable and software. Let me know how you get on.

    Sorry i am lost But i wanna buy/purchase 2 of these for work but for what reason and why do i need to program the walkie talkies?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to programme them because the frequencies they come with are illegal to transmit on and often out of the allocated band for license free comms

  • @FrancisMulvaney
    @FrancisMulvaney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What's the best way to program the radio for in house security at a nightclub? So just one channel amongst a team of door staff?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the cable, select a frequency and CTCSS tone. Be aware though you'd not be legal to use these should anyone check. :)

    • @FrancisMulvaney
      @FrancisMulvaney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ringway Manchester does it not comply with non-license use with PMR446 on low power?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Francis Mulvaney no mate legal is 0.5w. These radios are all 2w. The chances of being caught are really low though,

      They ARE illegal to have after September 2019, I’m not sure if you need a license to have it now.

    • @jonesjones4036
      @jonesjones4036 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes retevis have started to become more prominent and make more radios and in my opinion better radios than baofeng.

    I'm in a explorers program , Any way i can program these to all my channels for example (Main Dispatch , Tac 1 , Tac 2) That way it's easier for us?

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Digi Gurus TV They can be programmed to anything between 400-470mhz off the top of my head. Anything UHF anyway.

    If that mains cable is actually rated for 240v I'll eat my hat mate ;) Make sure you have a fire extingusher handy :P
    I'd fit 1A fuses into the mains plugs to be safe or do a 12v charger conversion :)

    • @MPGOlicensedinjan
      @MPGOlicensedinjan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ben Thomson +Ringway Manchester .On the charger it has 110 to 240ac input, the output is only 5v dc so in theory you could use a usb port for charging. all you need is a tp4056 board. Their is a couple of vids out there, it will be a safer alternative

    • @Andromedan
      @Andromedan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an idea :) I'd use a 12v -> 5v converter to be compatible with all ham supplies though :) No USB ports on my PSU. Yet. ;)

    • @MPGOlicensedinjan
      @MPGOlicensedinjan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah that would be better, although you could use a 12v dc usb cig jack

    • @Andromedan
      @Andromedan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DC-DC converters for that are easy & very cheap, I don't use those cigar lighter plugs though, they're not suitable for anything really. Never were designed for power ;)

    welcome to fake radio land... box doesnt match specs of radio is sign one... they claim they are 5 watts but many sold are just 1 watt. You can turn on the female voice in English which tells you what channel you are on. Most come defaulted to have that voice on which gets around your issue of no numbers visible on the channel knob. 5 watts they are ok... but only one watt £5 is about the right price. Your were 2 watt so it shows its all a farce when you buy these radios. You never know what your going to get. Also you should mention that they are NOT legal for use in the UK by anyone other than radio amateurs and if programmed by a radio professional for private channel use. The channels they come with from the factory are ILLEGAL AS HELL in the UK.

    • @RingwayManchester
      @RingwayManchester  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree, power on these was pretty standard at around 2w. Hi/lo power setting is useless as they're both the same. Like you say £5 isn't bad. I sold all these in the end.
